Pope Francis: Conservatives Have a ‘Suicidal Attitude

Original Article

Posted By: Beardo, 5/17/2024 3:22:26 PM

Pope Francis told CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell that conservatives are willfully blind and manifest a “suicidal attitude” in their narrowmindedness. In an interview set to air Sunday on 60 Minutes, the pope asserts that a conservative “is someone who clings to something and does not want to see beyond that. It is a suicidal attitude.” “One thing is to take tradition into account and consider situations from the past but quite another is to be closed up inside a dogmatic box,” he adds.

I left the Catholic Church for 3 years during and after covid. I started going to mass again in January. Guess I’m going to have to leave again. I found an Anglican Church which is more conservative and more traditionally Catholic than my home parish. Think I’ll give it a shot - pretty sure that, as a conservative, I’ll be welcomed there.

There may possibly exist such conservatives elsewhere in the world which is the Pope's remit, so if anyone exists per his description then yes they are dopey but how would we know. Divorce is not recognized Priests cannot marry A Catholic who marries a divorced person cannot go to communion it's ok to have sex and go to confession and Communion, but if you marry you cannot go any longer. Without Penance you cannot receive Communion. They even tell you how long you have to wait after eating before Communion. Does he realize what he just said? I doubt it. #4,EtAl~ Having been raised in a family of Byzantine Catholics and Lutherans, would encourage attending a Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS), alternating with an Anglican Church, over the course of at least a year before making a decision. Monk, Augustinian Friar, German Priest, Theologian, Author, Hymnwriter, Professor Martin Luther has been reviled for more than 500 years for the Reformation but the reality of Martin Luther possibly having been chosen by God for the purpose he served cannot be dismissed. There are numerous similarities in the lives of Martin Luther and the Catholic Church’s St. Jerome that include both men having translated the Bible; Martin Luther into German, and Jerome (whose Latin name was Eusebius Hieronymus, born in Stridon, a Roman province now in Croatia) the Latin version, known as the Vulgate. The simplicity of Lutheranism in its liturgy and décor of Lutheran churches may be most striking to Catholics; the substance, the theology of what Martin Luther gleaned from Scripture is from Scripture—Sola Scriptura.

FTA...“I would like to remind those people that ‘backwardism’ is useless, and we need to understand that there is an appropriate evolution in the understanding of matters of faith and morals,” the pope said.' There is so much to be aghast at what he has said here that it is hard to pick out the most outrageous statement. But this is the one I picked to put here in the comments section. Read that again and tell my if he isn't signaling that sooner than later the Church is going to come out in favor of homosexual marriage and abortion.

#27~ The excerpt is appreciated. What is striking is whether it stems from nescience or deliberate/purposeful disregard for the Word of God; while there may be an ‘evolution in the understanding of matters of faith and morals’ there is NO evolution, NO change, not ever, in the Word of God as written in Scripture; Scripture is the inerrant Word of God. God’s commands do not change. Sin is sin. ~ “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) ~ “knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)

There is God and there is religion. Don't ever confuse the two. Case in point, the Pope. Religion will run your life. So will the Pope. The only one entitled to run your life is God. God created you after all. Don't let anyone else run your life. All too often they aren't looking out for you.

#31~ Have heard the phrase, “There is God and there is religion” before and find it obscure. Jesus told Peter that based on Peter’s confession (Matthew 16:13-20), the ministry of the confession Peter made, that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of the living God,” Jesus would build His church on that rock, that solid confession, and that Jesus would give the church the keys of the kingdom of heaven to forgive or withhold forgiveness of sins. ~ “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19) ~ “And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.’” (John 20:22-23) Before ascending to heaven, Jesus gave the disciples “The Great Commission” telling them: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20). Webster’s dictionary defines religion as “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices; the service and worship of God or the supernatural; commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance; a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.” An explanation of how there cannot be, should not be, or no link exists between God and religion would be appropriate; God’s Word in Scripture is inerrant; God has given mortal man Law and Gospel. For example, it is possible to love God with all one’s heart and soul, but mortal man sins and needs forgiveness of sins through the Sacrament of Holy Communion as written in Scripture (Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-23). Forgiveness of sins comes from the Lord through men serving as pastors/priests to whom the “keys of the kingdom” were given to forgive or withhold forgiveness of sins.

Funny thing. Remember how Pope Benedict "resigned" (very, very unusual for a Pope to do that) for supposed health reasons? Well that was in 2013 and Benedict lived nearly 10 years after his resignation. The same cabal that orchestrated the installation of the unknown and untested marxist, Barack Hussein Obama, and, the 81 million vote geting, dementia ridden, empty vessel Biden, orchestrated the installation of this communist pope. Evil exists. But God will win in the end.

The California Senate passed a bill that would ban parental notification for gender changes in public TK-12 and provide more resources to increase parental support of LGBTQ pupils. While parents broadly support disclosure rules and have approved them in many school districts, state leaders, including the attorney general — who has supported lawsuits against districts with disclosure rules — say these efforts harm transgender children. In the past year, school districts across California have adopted measures requiring parents to be notified if their children request to officially change their pronouns, go by a different name, or use facilities or school programs for children of the opposite gender.

But it has plunged from sixth to 18th place in the rankings since the appointment of Jennifer Lucerno as dean of admissions in June 2020 amid claims that the admissions bar for underrepresented minorities is now 'as low as you could possibly imagine'.

Former President Donald Trump's rally is on in the South Bronx, and it's driving the Democrats crazy that so many people have come out to hear him in the deep blue area. Maybe it isn't so "deep blue" after all when you see the number of people coming out to see him. It was driving Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) mad to have it right in her backyard; her district is nearby. She threw a fit about it, trying to say he was there because he had to be in New York for the ridiculous lawfare against him, not realizing what she was essentially admitting about election interference.

It appears Pandemic 2.0 is truly in the works as all of the pieces fall into place: the media terror campaign, the gain-of-function work in U.S. labs, the alleged jump from animals to humans, and now the announcement of new vaxes to be produced by the feds. Via The Defender (emphasis added): Federal health officials are ramping up efforts to combat what they claim is the growing threat of H5N1 bird flu with plans to produce 4.8 million vaccine doses and increase influenza surveillance nationwide.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is a “threat to our democracy” and maybe even the clearly biased “prince of darkness” who has sympathized with insurrectionists and publicly advocated for the “movement to overturn a lawful election.” Those are just some of the claims by elected Democrats and left-wing activists who have jumped at the opportunity this week to dress down Alito, to run down the court’s legitimacy, and to call for the justice’s recusal from a couple of January 6-related cases. The chorus of voices calling for Alito’s recusal has grown in response to recent New York Times

How might we change the premise of Social Security to make it fully funded, more equitable, and sustainable indefinitely? Social Security is societal insurance, not an individual retirement plan. It’s intended to protect individuals against income loss due to retirement, disability, or death. It supports disabled individuals, survivors, and children and reduces poverty. Social Security protects taxpayers across American society. Without Social Security, millions would face poverty, straining families and state and local governments, increasing inequality, and destabilizing the economy.

The NCAA and the Big Ten Conference leadership approved a $2.8 billion groundbreaking settlement of antitrust claims that promises to usher in a chaotic and lucrative era in college sports. Four other conferences will have to approve the settlement for it to be formally approved. In House v. the NCAA, several former student-athletes who played before the 2021 agreement that allowed players to market their names, images, and likenesses (NIL) sued to recoup some of what they say they should have earned. The settlement could resolve three antitrust lawsuits against the NCAA worth $20 billion.

CNN's Ana Navarro has criticized fellow Latinos who support Donald Trump, labeling their attitudes towards immigration as 'very stupid.' Navarro suggested that some Latino immigrants seem to forget their own roots and mistakenly believe that being anti-immigrant will help them assimilate better into American society. Speaking on CNN on Friday night, the anti-Trump Republican expressed her frustration with such a mindset, saying it only serves to highlight how it contributes to a divisive atmosphere.

Travis Kelce has broken his silence over his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Harrison Butker's controversial recent speech where he said women are destined to be homemakers. Butker sparked widespread outrage with a 20-minute speech at Benedictine College, Kansas, where he directly addressed female graduates and told them to be excited for the 'vocation' of being a homemaker, using his wife as an example. Now, speaking on the latest episode of New Heights, Kelce - who was recording the show from Europe, where he is joining girlfriend Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour - stood up for his teammate against the backlash, even though he disagreed with his views.

MINNEAPOLIS - When George Floyd died at the hands of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Memorial Day in 2020, his death prompted protests and calls for change. Now, four years later, his memory is still a cause for people to take action. "We can never forget. We can never stop talking about George Floyd. We can never unsee what we saw in 2020," said Leslie E. Redmond, Executive Director of the nonprofit Win Back. Win Back organized its first annual Day Of Remembrance for George Floyd Friday. It started with an interfaith prayer service at city hall and continued
