Pope Francis told CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell that conservatives are willfully blind and manifest a “suicidal attitude” in their narrowmindedness.
In an interview set to air Sunday on 60 Minutes, the pope asserts that a conservative “is someone who clings to something and does not want to see beyond that. It is a suicidal attitude.”
“One thing is to take tradition into account and consider situations from the past but quite another is to be closed up inside a dogmatic box,” he adds.

I left the Catholic Church for 3 years during and after covid. I started going to mass again in January. Guess I’m going to have to leave again. I found an Anglican Church which is more conservative and more traditionally Catholic than my home parish. Think I’ll give it a shot - pretty sure that, as a conservative, I’ll be welcomed there.

well this is not the kkind of conservative that any of us are so it does not apply to us and let us just ignore it. There may possibly exist such conservatives elsewhere in the world which is the Pope's remit, so if anyone exists per his description then yes they are dopey but how would we know. I do wonder at times about the Iranian mullahs.

He is the leader of the most closed minded religion that exists.
Divorce is not recognized
Priests cannot marry
A Catholic who marries a divorced person cannot go to communion it's ok to have sex and go to confession and Communion, but if you marry you cannot go any longer. Without Penance you cannot receive Communion.
They even tell you how long you have to wait after eating before Communion.
Does he realize what he just said? I doubt it. The Cardinals who elected this guy made a big mistake IMO.

#4,EtAl~ Having been raised in a family of Byzantine Catholics and Lutherans, would encourage attending a Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS), alternating with an Anglican Church, over the course of at least a year before making a decision. Monk, Augustinian Friar, German Priest, Theologian, Author, Hymnwriter, Professor Martin Luther has been reviled for more than 500 years for the Reformation but the reality of Martin Luther possibly having been chosen by God for the purpose he served cannot be dismissed. There are numerous similarities in the lives of Martin Luther and the Catholic Church’s St. Jerome that include both men having translated the Bible; Martin Luther into German, and Jerome (whose Latin name was Eusebius Hieronymus, born in Stridon, a Roman province now in Croatia) the Latin version, known as the Vulgate. The simplicity of Lutheranism in its liturgy and décor of Lutheran churches may be most striking to Catholics; the substance, the theology of what Martin Luther gleaned from Scripture is from Scripture—Sola Scriptura.

FTA...“I would like to remind those people that ‘backwardism’ is useless, and we need to understand that there is an appropriate evolution in the understanding of matters of faith and morals,” the pope said.'
There is so much to be aghast at what he has said here that it is hard to pick out the most outrageous statement. But this is the one I picked to put here in the comments section. Read that again and tell my if he isn't signaling that sooner than later the Church is going to come out in favor of homosexual marriage and abortion.

#27~ The excerpt is appreciated. What is striking is whether it stems from nescience or deliberate/purposeful disregard for the Word of God; while there may be an ‘evolution in the understanding of matters of faith and morals’ there is NO evolution, NO change, not ever, in the Word of God as written in Scripture; Scripture is the inerrant Word of God. God’s commands do not change. Sin is sin.
~ “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
~ “knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)

There is God and there is religion. Don't ever confuse the two. Case in point, the Pope. Religion will run your life. So will the Pope. The only one entitled to run your life is God. God created you after all. Don't let anyone else run your life. All too often they aren't looking out for you.

Unless he's speaking on faith and morals from the Chair of Peter (ex cathedra) we Catholics don't have to listen to him. That's the only time a Pope is infallible, He is wrong on clomate change and politics and will be gone soon.

#31~ Have heard the phrase, “There is God and there is religion” before and find it obscure.
Jesus told Peter that based on Peter’s confession (Matthew 16:13-20), the ministry of the confession Peter made, that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of the living God,” Jesus would build His church on that rock, that solid confession, and that Jesus would give the church the keys of the kingdom of heaven to forgive or withhold forgiveness of sins.
~ “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
~ “And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.’” (John 20:22-23)
Before ascending to heaven, Jesus gave the disciples “The Great Commission” telling them: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20).
Webster’s dictionary defines religion as “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices; the service and worship of God or the supernatural; commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance; a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith.”
An explanation of how there cannot be, should not be, or no link exists between God and religion would be appropriate; God’s Word in Scripture is inerrant; God has given mortal man Law and Gospel. For example, it is possible to love God with all one’s heart and soul, but mortal man sins and needs forgiveness of sins through the Sacrament of Holy Communion as written in Scripture (Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-23). Forgiveness of sins comes from the Lord through men serving as pastors/priests to whom the “keys of the kingdom” were given to forgive or withhold forgiveness of sins.

Well most conservative that I know and I count myself as one of them are fairly open minded. We do listen to opposing viewpoints. We may not agree, but we do listen. Most conservatives don't live in an NPR bubble - we can't. Almost every source of news and entertainment is progressive woke and unless we cut ourselves off entirely, we can't escape the woke viewpoint. And sadly, to disagree is to be branded a Bad Person by the progressive woke.
Shame on you Pope Francis.

Funny thing. Remember how Pope Benedict "resigned" (very, very unusual for a Pope to do that) for supposed health reasons? Well that was in 2013 and Benedict lived nearly 10 years after his resignation. The same cabal that orchestrated the installation of the unknown and untested marxist, Barack Hussein Obama, and, the 81 million vote geting, dementia ridden, empty vessel Biden, orchestrated the installation of this communist pope. Evil exists. But God will win in the end.
