Pope Francis told CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell that conservatives are willfully blind and manifest a “suicidal attitude” in their narrowmindedness.
In an interview set to air Sunday on 60 Minutes, the pope asserts that a conservative “is someone who clings to something and does not want to see beyond that. It is a suicidal attitude.”
“One thing is to take tradition into account and consider situations from the past but quite another is to be closed up inside a dogmatic box,” he adds.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito had an upside-down US flag outside his Virginia home just weeks after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, when it was being used as a symbol of MAGA’s “Stop the Steal” agenda.
A photo of the inverted flag, now widely associated with former President Donald Trump’s false claims of election fraud, was published by the New York Times on Thursday.
Alito, who was appointed by Republican President George W. Bush, didn’t deny that the upside-down flag was flown over his front lawn — but blamed it on his wife, Martha-Ann

David DePape, the man who attacked former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) husband with a hammer in October 2022, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday.
The attack on Paul Pelosi occurred in the Pelosis’ San Francisco home on Oct. 28, 2022, just days before the midterm elections. DePape was found guilty on Nov. 16 for the attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official. Prosecutors had pushed for DePape to serve the maximum term of 40 years.
Paul Pelosi suffered a fractured skull and severe damage to his left hand. To this day, he deals with terrible headaches,

On Wednesday, a federal appeals court ruled that parents in Maryland’s largest school district do not have the right to opt their children out of pro-LGBTQ curriculum in the K-5 grades.
(Snip) The plaintiffs, three pairs of parents who sued Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), argued that their children being forced to read such books as “The Pride Puppy,” “Uncle Bobby’s Wedding” and “Born Ready: The True Story of a Boy Named Penelope,” would be in violation of both federal law and state law. Such teachings directly clash with what the parents want to teach their children about “what it means to be male and female; the institution of marriage;

As previously reported, Boeing whistleblower John Barnett was found dead from a ‘self-inflicted’ gunshot wound inside his vehicle outside a hotel in Charleston, South Carolina as he was testifying against the airplane company.
John Barnett was found dead on March 9 on day three of his deposition against Boeing. He worked for Boeing for 32 years until he retired in 2017.
“Barnett’s death came during a break in depositions in a whistleblower retaliation suit, where he alleged under-pressure workers were deliberately fitting sub-standard parts to aircraft on the assembly line.” the Daily Mail reported.
Charleston police investigated after Barnett was found in his truck “suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.”

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Marjorie Taylor Greene had a heated exchange Thursday evening during what was supposed to be a contempt hearing for Attorney General Merrick Garland. The House Oversight Committee had originally been convened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena to hand over an audio recording of President Biden’s interview with a special counsel.
The hearing quickly spiraled out of control, with lawmakers bickering with one another. Less than an hour after the hearing was underway, Greene took shots at her Democratic colleague, Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas.

Illegal immigration and control over the nation's borders will be one of the major issues in this fall's elections, and a key aspect of that issue is the number of people who are present in the country today - and what should be done about them. Should he win reelection, former President Donald Trump is reportedly being advised to deport almost 20 million illegal aliens, in a project similar to the United Kingdom's Rwanda policy: "Donald Trump’s allies are drawing up detailed proposals to implement the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s plans for an unprecedented immigration crackdown, including an effort that would deport asylum seekers to other countries,

We live in a country where crime is out of control. Smash-and-grab mobs loot stores in cities across the nation, illegal aliens are assaulting and murdering wantonly, and antisemitic protesters are running roughshod over college campuses. But thank God that one of the greatest criminal masterminds in history got his due on Friday morning.

COVID-19, which killed 1.1 million Americans and destroyed the lives and livelihoods of millions more, is a manmade virus that escaped from a Chinese lab partly funded by the US government.
Even today, you’re not supposed to say that — even though it’s the only plausible scenario.
No, “fact checkers” will rush in to claim that eminent scientists deny this. Which is because those scientists have too much invested — in money, in time, in their own beliefs — to admit the truth.
But as Congress continues to probe, that truth is coming out, little by little, and the lies are being exposed:

At a Rose Garden event this week, President Joe Biden bragged that “Thanks to my Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re building a network of 500,000 charging stations all across America.”
This is about as believable as the story of his uncle’s cannibalistic demise.
The truth is that Biden’s five-year, $7.5 billion effort to jump-start the development of electric vehicle charging stations is doing the opposite. The money has so far produced only eight new charging stations in two years. The overall growth rate in EV charging stations has slowed since he signed that bill. And earlier this month, Tesla gutted its EV charger efforts,

Scottie Scheffler was detained by Louisville police and handcuffed by officers outside of Valhalla Golf Club on Friday ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident.
Darlington said the scene involving Scheffler and the police unfolded “very quickly, very rapidly and very aggressively” on the ESPN broadcast.
Scheffler, 27, was booked before 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections. The situation, which occurred around 5:45 a.m. in the pitch dark, was all due to a misunderstanding over traffic flow.
Scheffler was trying to get around traffic caused by a fatal accident involving a shuttle bus near the course.

An online petition to have the Chiefs part ways with kicker Harrison Butker in the wake of his viral commencement speech has exceeded 180,000 signatures. “The harmful remarks made by Harrison Butker, kicker of the Kansas City Chiefs, during his commencement address at Benedictine College were unacceptable,” the petition’s organizer wrote. “His comments were sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist.” There also is a place online for people to show their support for Butker. It’s a site called “From Field Goals To Family Goals: Harrison Butker Wins,” and apparently has ties to former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz.
