The Wizard Of Oz and It's A Wonderful Life are going to get a 'diverse' reboot, a Hollywood director has revealed.
Kenya Barris, who created the ABC sitcom Black-ish, is working on scripts for the Warner Bros adaptations of the Hollywood classics and spoke of his plans to make some key changes. [SNIP]
The producer, 50, said the 1939 Judy Garland film The Wizard Of Oz will get a modern day remake with it set it The Bottoms - Inglewood, California, rather than Kansas.
Kenya added it is the 'best time to turn a mirror on society' and he wants to do both films with diverse characters.

Diversity? It's a re-tread. Make your own doggone movie with a fresh new diverse theme. No one will come to see that either.

I have no interest in watching these “diverse” remakes of Hollywood classics. I agree with an earlier poster: Why don’t these people write and film new scripts with new ideas and material, rather than rehashing old material.

Zuzu will be named Ashantish and have pink and purple hair corn rows and have a fentanyl overdose because she tried to have a sex change. There will be no Christmas tree or Merry Christmas wreath for the door - instead Satan worship with rituals because you can't say Merry Christmas. George will be driving an old electric car but it won't start because it's too cold and there is no charger out by the bridge. The town's people won't collect money because all they have is credit cards. And... Clarence will never get his wings. There, fixed it for you.

I just love the photo of our black culture-centric director; a camel-hair coat over a red plaid flannel shirt, white-paint stained camo pants and hiking boots. He looks like a Watts pimp dressed as a lumberjack survivalist for Halloween. Not only can he not come up with any authentic ethnic script ideas, he doesn't even have any individual style!

In the 90's, they remade "The Bishop's Wife" and called it "The Preacher's Wife." It stank on ice. Leave the classics alone!!
BTW, I can't wait to see the "diverse" versions of The Godfather, Jaws, The Sound of Music and Citizen Kane!!

I say, let them spends millions on these woke remakes like they did with The Little Mermaid. It will become obvious, "go woke, go broke". Let them take their hits in the pocketbook. That's less money to donate to the demon rats.

"Wizard of Oz," by L. Frank Baum, was probably a political commentary about the Congressional fight over the gold vs. silver standard. The characters in the book (movie) were actually parody caricatures of actual people at the time.
Let them do whatever they want to do. It will FLOP. They'll overdo it with fast action CGI non-sense and infuse it with a heavy dose of DEI. I guess nobody told GenZ idiots that this was already done once before, and it was called, "The Wiz," starring an all black cast. Diversity is absolutely required, as long as it's not an all negro production.

Even taking the "diverse" BS out of this story, why can't Holly-weird come up with a single idea for an original movie that isn't going to bomb like Nagasaki?
Of course I am being facetious. People want original good old-fashioned stories, with good good-guys and bad bad-guys. They want feminine women and masculine men, and they want those men and women to be romantically involved. And if there is fighting to be done, they want the masculine men to do it. That is why the two "Top Gun" movies were so successful.
There is nothing they can do with 21st century PC sensibilities that aren't going to destroy any remakes of "The Wizard of Oz" and "It's A Wonderful Life". They are both going to get all sorts of acclaim from the Holly-weird insiders, but are going to lose massive $$$ and be total bombs!!! I know we sure won't be wasting a penny on them!!!

Wizard of Oz is already diverse. You've got a White female, African (lion), a silver guy, and a Strawn person. They have no brain, no heart, and social anxiety (disabilities). Dorothy has her support dog, Toto. There is also a green woman. Don't forget the Munchkins and Emerald City residents. Diversity doesn't need to be written into the movie. You just need to open your eyes to see it.

My reaction to these, “progressive,” Lucianne posts I s so frequently, “EFF these people,” I’ve become the perfect avatar for the emotional reaction these collectivist woke Lefties evidently most desire: loathing. Not only do these cockamamie ideas reveal a baren imagination but reveal a real tin ear and myopic eye; as if these classics were NOT of their own time and culture and can so readily be remolded into something they never were. Idiots.

Yet I would love to see George Floyd replace George Bailey in "Its a Wonderful Hood."

I guess it's true that, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." So, a big "Thank You!" to all you non-white imitators of White culture! Nice to see you acknowledging our superiority. Maybe next time, come up with something original and show us you have some measure of creative imagination and intellect. For example, how about getting diverse with a reboot of "Roots," based on islamic slave traders taking thousands of Europeans as slaves in the 17th and 18th centuries?

Hollywood is more known for retreads than originality these days, anyhow-this is no different. They can crank out their “version” of these classics all they want. It does not obligate me or anyone else to buy into it and watch. More money down a rathole. Maybe they’ll learn a lesson in that, but I sincerely doubt it.
