As Amazon Studios embarks on a new Hollywood production deal to create faith-based entertainment for Christians, the company is preparing to roll out a new animated series that celebrates Lucifer and demons. Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated series that is set to debut Friday on Amazon Prime Video. The series, which comes from indie powerhouse A24, follows the character Charlie Morningstar, the daughter of Lucifer and the reigning “princess of Hell.” Something of a rebel, Charlie hatches a plan to solve Hell’s overpopulation problem by sending damned souls to Heaven. She is helped by her friend “Vaggie” and a former porn star.

Watch the preview on the link. I generally think people complaining about such stories are ninnies who overreact. “Church lady” types. Not here. This is truly repulsive.

Adult animated shows are designed to offend. This is nothing new. The only surprise is it took a few decades for them to go here.

It's a comedy and it's well done. Very entertaining. You would have to be a pretty uptight person to complain about it. Get a life.

The preview is nauseating...even uses a Disney-esque princess for voice for the protagonist, who is none other than the Princess of Hell.

Didn’t Disney try pushing a satanic tv show for tweens? This is what the “entertainment complex” has become. This is who they are. They’re not hiding it anymore.

Complaining about the normalization of evil or the glamorization of sin isn't necessarily frivolity or hysteria. I hope all follow #4's advice to get a life by choosing to follow Christ away from evil and into life. Turn away from this corrupt generation and towards God. The only story I've ever encountered from the viewpoint of the devil that has any value is C.S. Lewis' "Screwtape Letters".

No one will see this but just in case anyone is still checking this zombie article. I saw the first 4 episodes tonight. It was clever and surprisingly well done. The characters have depth. It does not glorify evil. Ep4 turn a sudden turn from the standard adult animated humor of the first 3 episodes to go to a really dark place I found surprising but it was quality. Highly unusual show worth watching if you're able to survive a few 4 letter words here n there. And oh, it's a musical. The songs are hilarious and well done.

It was a routine meeting of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee. [SNIP] Chairwoman Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) was conducting a hearing on U.S. relations with Cuba when Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) interrupted the hearing to speak about her desire for the U.S. to reestablish relations with the island nation. Salazar was having none of it. Lee is not a member of the Committee, and according to long-standing House rules, there would have to be a unanimous vote of Committee members to allow her to speak. “Today, I exercised my authority as Subcommittee Chairwoman to not allow an off-Committee Member to spread communist propaganda during my Cuba hearing."

The battle over whether individual states can take matters into their own hands when it comes to border security is now centered on a park in south Texas. [SNIP] Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Chris Olivarez posted videos and images on social media Wednesday night showing migrants being handcuffed and hauled off. "Troopers are arresting illegal immigrants for criminal trespass at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass," he said. "Troopers are enforcing criminal trespass on single adult men & women. The State of Texas will maintain a proactive posture in curbing illegal border crossings between the ports of entry."

The bipartisan sponsors of a new bill to target chronic absenteeism want to model a piece of advice from novelist Jean Shepherd: “In God we trust, all others pay cash.” In a proposed two-year pilot program, Republican state Rep. Bill Seitz and Democratic Rep. Dani Isaacsohn, both of Cincinnati, said cash transfers would be sent to kindergarteners and ninth graders. [SNIP] According to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, prior to the pandemic, kindergarteners considered chronically absent – missing 10% or more of a school year for any reason – registered at 11%. In the last school year, the rate ballooned to 29%.

He’s baaack. Former Democratic Cleveland mayor, congressman and longshot presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed paperwork at the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday that indicates he’s running as an independent for the congressional seat held by Rocky River Republican Rep. Max Miller. Kucinich has previously run for office as a Democrat. He missed the December deadline to run in the Democratic primary for the seat that encompasses western and southern Cuyahoga County, Medina and Wayne counties, and northern Holmes County, but the filing deadline for independents to seek the seat isn’t until March. Kucinich served as Cleveland’s mayor from 1977 to 1979.

[SNIP] A work session on the bill, LD 1735, was scheduled for Wednesday, but as public outrage grew and with severe weather, it was postponed until January 25. The Department of Justice wants the Supreme Court to stop Texas from blocking federal Border Patrol agents from a portion of the U.S.-Mexico border near Eagle Pass, southwest of San Antonio. Texas state troopers on Thursday fenced off a public park in Eagle Pass, prompting objections from city officials — and the new filing from the Justice Department. The Justice Department said armed Texas National Guard members have blockaded access roads to the area, which "effectively prevents" Border Patrol agents from getting to or monitoring a roughly 2.5-mile stretch of the border.

The nation’s ruling class holds deeply authoritarian opinions widely divorced from the rest of the American electorate, finds a survey out this week. It found nearly 60 percent of American “elites” think there is too much individual freedom in America. Meanwhile, nearly 60 percent of registered voters have the exact opposite opinion, reporting the United States has too much top-down control, limiting liberty. The study from the Committee to Unleash Prosperity found ruling class opinions on climate policies were particularly harsh and despotic. More than two-thirds of the 1 percent support rationing vital energy and food sources in an attempt to control the globe’s weather.
