Will The GOP Blow Its Huge Lead On The Issues?

The same day a Gallup poll showed that Republicans hold a commanding lead with voters on the issues, Republicans in the House were ousting their speaker and a judge was issuing Donald Trump a gag order after he “tweeted” an attack against one the judge’s clerks during his fraud trial. So it goes with the Stupid Party. Here’s an idea Republicans don’t seem to have considered: Stick to the issues that people care about.

Yep. As I've mentioned previously, right when Americans are looking to them for leadership, they Republicans have to show their backside to the whole country. "Don't trust us, we can't even trust and support each other!". As McCarthy and others have been methodically exposing the corruption of Joe Biden, Ronald McGaetz and 8 other clowns jump our of their little car and blow everything up, then wrap themselves in the true conservative flag. Was McCarthy perfect? No. But he was doing something very important. Gaetz threw a huge wrench into that. Why? Who really helped "the swamp" here? And what kind of deals did Gaetz make with the Dems? Those are questions to ask yourself. Also, what, exactly, is it that Gaetz has accomplished in his sojourn in the House? Think about it. Also, ask yourself why Trump himself criticized this idea. What he said is exactly what's happening - the Republicans attacked their own and show they are in disarray, while the Dems stand in lockstep unity. It's not a good or trust-inspiring look. And it may cost them and any GOP presidential candidate the 2024 election.

What conservative successes did we get with McCarthy? None. Might as well rip the bandaid and try again. Trying to mix up his removal with voter issues is silly. Voters don't care who the speaker is. Only DC insiders and L readers even know this happened.

At first I was mad, disillusioned, disgusted. Then, McHenry gave Naci the swiftest kick in the behind I have ever seen in US politics. Might have been petty but let the Dems know they didn't necessarily win anything. McHenry has nothing to lose and can exact appropriate short term retribution. That will calm never for the immediate moment. The new Speaker can command a bit more control over the wildlings in the GOP caucus. And then, 113 months before the election is an eternity in politics so the ship can be put back on course. After a night to rest, I'm still mad. However, a good strategy moving forwarded with Gaetz and his insane followers having less clout going will allow the new Speacker more power and less fear moving forward. One can kiss up to the Democrats only every so often or the voters get really mad.

There is a significant, non-ignorable part of the GOP that DOESN'T want to win .McCain, WIllard, Ryan, McConnell are a few examples. Were it not for these back stabbers we would have had 23 years of continuous Republican rule and Trump would be happily playing golf at Mar-A -Lago.

The 2024 election has seemed to be a preordained outcome, with current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump holding substantial leads in their respective parties. But in October’s I&I/TIPP Poll, both major candidates’ support slipped a bit against their challengers. A one-off fluke, or the start of a trend? The most recent online I&I/TIPP Poll, taken Sept. 27-29 from 1,262 registered voters, saw slippage for both candidates, though neither will yet be pushing the panic button. The overall poll has a margin of error of +/-2.8 percentage points. After several months of steady support

Rich irony alert: The deed was accomplished with the help of the Democratic votes to which the ex-speaker had turned in betraying conservatives who had earlier this year acquiesced in allowing him to take up the gavel. Now it’s time to turn to “Part II” (wink-wink) of the task: identifying and installing the “’to-the-mattresses’ leader willing to do what it takes to rescue America

In the three months since President Joe Biden decided to campaign on the glories of “Bidenomics,” inflation started creeping back up, the unemployment rate rose, and his approval ratings on the economy have steadily dropped. Now, stagflation is back in the news. All of it is leading Democrats to urge Biden to … shift his messaging. Stagflation – the combination of rising inflation, high unemployment, and a stagnant economy not seen since the disastrous Jimmy Carter years – is suddenly in the headlines. On Friday, for example, CNBC ran a story: “Stagflation is ‘the big bogeyman out there’ — and many increasingly fear its return.”

Questions like that are almost enough to make you feel sorry for White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. Even someone qualified for that job – which she clearly is not – would have trouble coming up with new ways to tell bald-faced lies about the border crisis and what President Joe Biden is doing to stop it. Her job got more difficult after U.S. Customs and Border Protection released data Friday showing that 304,162 people entered the country illegally in August – a new record. For perspective, it’s as many as crossed illegally in all of 2017, and more than the entire population of Pittsburgh.

Californians have twice forced governors into recall elections under the state’s 1911 law, the first time to can a real flop of a chief executive, the second time putting a scare into a man who deserved to be fired and humiliated. Gavin Newsom, however, survived the recall of 2021, but at least voters had a chance to make a regime change before the regularly scheduled election. We’ve been cataloging how the left has taken to labeling every candidate it doesn’t like and every policy it opposes a “threat to democracy.” But even we were surprised to see the U.S. Constitution itself added to the list of these threats. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell said over the weekend that: “The Constitution has some profoundly anti-democratic, which is to say anti-democracy components, like the Electoral College and the two senators per state, for example.” Mind you, this aired on Sept. 15, just two days before Constitution Day, which this year marked the 236th anniversary of its signing.

President Joe Biden announced Wednesday that he approved $9 billion in student loan forgiveness for 125,000 Americans. The relief is a result of his administration's fixes to a number of programs, including the income-driven repayment plans and Public Service Loan Forgiveness. More than $5 billion of the aid will go to 53,000 borrowers who've worked in public service for a decade or more; $2.8 billion of the forgiveness is for 51,000 borrowers enrolled in income-driven repayment plans; and another $1.2 billion of the cancellation will go to 22,000 borrowers with disabilities. The announcement is likely to help Biden as he runs for reelection, experts say.
