Socialists have won one Democratic primary after another this year. Of course, Democratic primary voters represent a thin slice, the leftward-most portion, of our electorate. Still, socialism as a viable popular movement in the United States represents a radical departure from our history. How wide is the appeal of socialism, really? Rasmussen headlines “Voters Overwhelmingly Reject DSA Policies,” and its findings are interesting. But while the Rasmussen survey tests four policies being advocated by the Democratic Socialists of America, socialism is not one of them. And I don’t find the results to be particularly reassuring:

Something like 80% of Americans oppose allowing men to play in women’s sports leagues. That is, after all, the entire point of having women’s divisions and leagues–women play against other women, not against men.
For a sports organization like the Women’s National Basketball Association to come out in favor of allowing men (“trans women”) to play in their league is the height of perversity. If men could play in the WNBA, there soon would be no women left and no purpose to the league. Cuba’s electricity grid collapsed late Sunday, the state-owned grid operator said, plunging the island of about 10 million people into darkness as blackouts become more frequent.

I am usually a forgive-and-forget kind of guy.
When I was 18, a guy painting our house accidentally lost his grip on a can of paint, which then rolled off the roof and exploded on the hood of my already bedraggled, orange 1974 Gremlin X. No problem, it was an accident.

Francesca Hong, current Democrat gubernatorial candidate in the state of Wisconsin, said she once left a Culver’s fast food restaurant after she nearly experienced an “anxiety attack” due to “too many old white people.”
Hong shared her story about the anxiety episode in a 2019 post on X.

The repatriation of illegal aliens from the United States to wherever they came from is still ongoing, and it seems to be picking up.
