The mother of an accused California car thief who was fatally stabbed during a heist attempt wants authorities to reopen the case and charge her son’s killer in the name of “justice.”
Xavier Jerrod Cerf, 27, was fatally stabbed around 8 p.m. June 17 after a group of students confronted him as he allegedly tried to steal an older Mercedes parked behind a frat house on the University of Southern California’s Greek Row, according to ABC 7.
Cerf allegedly told the students that the car was his because it was “calling him” and “had his name” — then told them he had a handgun before reaching for his waist, investigators said.

I don't know any more about this than what I have read here.
But I presume to make assumptions., it's my nature.
I would bet that this usual suspect was stabbed by a student usual suspect.

Looks like a lot more than the car had his name written on it. Karma is a female dog!

He says he has a gun & reaches into his waistband.
That gives anyone the right to take action.

Decisions have consequences.
The dead guy was not homeless. He had a home but his home was across the country.
What's Momma's options? GoFundMe (collection for herself)? Memory T-shirts? Parades? Riots (on fraternity row)?

She wants justice?
Justice was already fully served.
Move on, Momma. No big checks for you to cash in on this one.

How does trhis uppity Texas woman know whether her adult son was homeless in Los
Angeles? He was trying to steal a car or these young men would not have approached him. More than likely they'd have avoided him. He probably thought it cool to pretend to have a gun in his waistband. It wasn't.

What was her "baby" doing in Los Angeles, arriving in February, then into a mental hospital from which he'd supposedly been released that day.. Schizo? Druggie? Said car he was in was "calling to me". Said he had a gun and reached for his waistband.

If you do the crime, be prepared to pay the price, whatever it may be. In this case, he paid the ultimate price. While it is sad for his family, the only person responsible for his death is no one but himself. While it is a tragedy for the family, the only person responsible for his own demise, is himself.

Give the guy who killed the car thief a medal and $500 reward for doing the right thing. Look into the mother, she's probably got some warrants.

When a criminal in an armed robbery says he has a gun, and reaches under his belt, you have to assume that he's got a gun. You must act accordingly, as the defender did here with what he had for self defense, fatally stabbing the robber. For the family of the new member of the 27 Club, Dirtbag Division, to try to sue is absurd. They deserve to have any such litigation laughed out of court.
Recently a well armed security guard at a retail store was accosted by someone who had been banned,
trespassed, from the business. The trespasser was probably used to bullying his way through life, but when he forced his way inside, lifted up his shirt, grabbed the gun in the front of his belt, and pointed it in the direction of the guard, he made the wrong decision. Yes, he managed to put one round in the guard's leg, and the guard did go to the hospital. But the guard mag dumped the bad guy with about 17 rounds from his sidearm, hitting him everywhere all over, and putting him down. The brandisher, lying supine in the doorway, bleeding heavily, seconds from crossing the bar, moaned, "Oh, gawd. Really?" Then he got four blasts from the guard's shotgun, ending the matter. Yes, really. How about them apples, bub? The guard heard no further from the attacker. Not even a gurgle (Al Sharpton's pronunciation of "Goebbels"). Don't threaten good people's lives. It might turn out badly. They might be able to fight back. Violent criminals sometimes go down. More should. That's one profession that should never be a safe one for the perpetrators.

Re #13. Had it been me, he'd have been very quickly staring at the muzzle of a handgun. If he actually began to produce ANY weapon....lights out.
Make threats of violence which are, in the moment, credible.....don't be shocked when people believe you and take defensive measures.
The posters pointing out that justice has been done are exactly correct.

America needs more penitentiaries, not more bleeding hearts. Living free doesn't include the right to commit crimes. Every Democrat soft-on-crime AG, Judge,city/state/federal official who feels that coddling, not incarceration is how we as a society should deal with criminals, is endangering those who DO obey the laws. Remember Kate Steinle? Laken Riley? The thousands of others who should be living their lives intead of being sad memories? FJB and all the Democrats to HELL.

Mama might want to proceed carefully. If she insists that somebody other than Xavier be held accountable for his mental illness, she might become a prime suspect.

Perhaps the guy who stabbed the car thief should sue his mother for raising such a dirtbag thug of a son.

I keep reading stories about relatives who complain when a member of their family is killed or injured while committing a crime. They complete ignore the fact that their relative was committing a crime.
