The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a federal statute that bans gun possession by individuals who are subject to a domestic violence-related restraining order.
The 8-1 decision in United States v. Rahimi, in which only Justice Clarence Thomas dissented, reverses a previous Fifth Circuit ruling on the matter.
“Since the founding, our Nation’s firearm laws have included provisions preventing individuals who threaten physical harm to others from misusing firearms,” writes Chief Justice John Roberts, adding that the federal statute at hand “fits comfortably within this tradition.”

That’s an interesting decision. Now Pandora’s box is open to other special exceptions to the Second Amendment. What new special exception will be next?

Domestic abuser..... any poor sap who ticks off a spouse who wants to get even. Domestic abuse is the favorite" go to" in divorce and child custody.

If you're so interested in fitting comfortably within this tradition.” you need to tell ALL the gun grabbers to keep their dirty paws off the Second Amendment...

There is one more gun case before the Supreme Court —— National Rifle Association v. Vullo. An NRA victory in that one complicates the democrat socialist party plan to do a financial crackdown on the gun industry.

oh-oh
A red flag warning about threatened red flag laws.
Abused people need protection as best as possible as we have seen far too often in the news, but being accused is often badly abused by a partner in a nasty separation/divorce and used vindictively. We also know that some recent cases of deadly abuse have involved an array of "weapons" ...including hands.
I wonder how difficult it will be for the exonerated person to retrieve his OR HER firearms?

Red flag laws only require someone's accusation that you are dangerous. Ex's, neighbors, etc can call the cops and have your guns take. They'll tell you you can get them back after a hearing. Yeah. Right.
If a Dom violence conviction is a felony you lose your guns anyway.
If it isn't, keep your paws off.

Smart decision - - real, real smart.
Now the demonrats and commies will accuse every person in this nation - - of domestic violence - - so that they can take everyone's guns away.

Accused = guilty? To hell with Due Process protections, I suppose.

The real problem here is "accused", as opposed to "convicted".

Who is a “ domestic abuser”? Some one (who) attacks, hurts or threatens members of his family or someone who holds traditional conservative views and contributes to the Trump campaign?

What do they call the inner city street urchins who shoot people every weekend for the fun of it? Probably some psychobabble term like "underprivileged youth" with "inadequate domestic relationships."

They tried the nebulous "mental health" argument a while back. If they have their way, they will grab your guns and your children if you don't "think properly".

Doesn't that make Domestic Abuse equate with Federal Felony, instead of just State? That was nothing but a stupid emotional decision coming from the High Court. They will have to reverse themselves on this one once the Wait till our Pandering Congress begins sucking all State crimes under this idiotic ruling.
- What other State Felonies are going to be included under this "Big Tent" using that precedent?
- Do you have a DUI on your record? You can't own a gun.
- Are you a "Deadbeat Dads" with "Failure to Pay Alimony and/or Child Support" crimes in your background? No guns for you!
- What about the female Domestic Abusers? Will they have their Guns revoked too? And what about ...?"
--Is this ruling retroactive? Will the ATF/FBI start to digging through their illegal Gun Sales database to find convicted Domestic Abusers and conducting SWAT raids on their homes to confiscate their guns?
In NO WAY do I think Domestic Abuse is acceptable in our society, but removing a person's Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms isn't worth hanging around with the wrong woman. As a result of this, marriage rates will drop even more, and the, "Papa was a rollin' stone," culture will spread even further.

Do they really think this is going to affect domestic abuse? What’s to stop the abuser from buying a gun the same way that all the thugs in the inner city get them?
