Joe Biden is delivering his State of the Union speech tonight. Apparently he will chide Americans for not appreciating his wonderful economy; declining real wages will not be mentioned. He will denounce “shrinkflation,” as though people are too stupid to know inflation when they see it. Nor will Biden mention the eight million or so illegals who have streamed across the border, wreaking havoc, since he opened it. Biden has always been mean-spirited. He is a nasty person, and always has been. Take, for example, his recent interview in the New Yorker. The interview is replete with Biden’s trademark classlessness, but take just one example: his smearing of Justice Thomas:

Scottie Scheffler was detained by Louisville police and handcuffed by officers outside of Valhalla Golf Club on Friday ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship, according to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident.
Darlington said the scene involving Scheffler and the police unfolded “very quickly, very rapidly and very aggressively” on the ESPN broadcast.
Scheffler, 27, was booked before 7:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to the Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections. The situation, which occurred around 5:45 a.m. in the pitch dark, was all due to a misunderstanding over traffic flow.
Scheffler was trying to get around traffic caused by a fatal accident involving a shuttle bus near the course.
Biden's Department of Health and Hunan Services suspended the non-profit research group EcoHealth Alliance from receiving federal funds. EcoHeath Alliance, under the leadership of Dr. Peter Daszak, is at ground zero of the lab leak theory of the creation of COVID-19. The suspension is merely an interim step until formal disbarment procedures get underway. Disbarment would preclude EcoHealth Alliance from receiving government grants or contractors or working as a subcontractor on projects with government funding. Permanently aggrieved White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was questioned Tuesday by Fox News’ Peter Doocy on why Biden’s poll numbers are tanking and why enthusiasm for the president seems to be so low. At first, she feigned innocence—oh, whatever do you mean, everybody’s thrilled with his leadership, how could you say such a thing—but Doocy wouldn’t it let go and, as usual, Jean-Pierre flustered and deflected and blamed everything but space aliens. The news these days is too often bad. There is domestic unrest all over the United States; the Middle East is once again aflame, and Russia and China both are growing more bellicose by the day. Gas and grocery prices are up, interest rates are up, wages are stagnant, and it's raining out.

I always thought “ironclad” meant binding, but to President Biden it apparently means a pledge that’s good until it becomes politically inconvenient to stick to it. On at least two occasions he asserted his (and our) commitment to Israel’s defense was “ironclad”: “On July 18, 2023, seated beside Mr. Herzog. “And as I affirmed to Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu yesterday, America’s commitment to Israel is firm. And it is ironclad.” He reiterated this pledge last month: "As I told Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel's security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad - let me say it again, ironclad," Mr. Biden said.

A Change.org petition demanding the release of Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker from the team and NFL has gone viral in wake of his controversial graduation speech at a private college in Kansas.
Butker, an outspoken Catholic and married father-of-two, congratulated the women receiving their degrees at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, last weekend, and said most of them were probably more excited about getting married, having children and staying at home to raise them, rather than establishing their careers.

The tapes are at the center of a dispute between House Republicans and Attorney General Merrick Garland, who has defied a subpoena for them and today faces contempt proceedings.
Mr. Garland, in a May 15 letter to the president, said that the “committee’s needs are plainly insufficient to outweigh the deleterious effects that the production of the recordings would have on the integrity and effectiveness of similar law enforcement investigations in the future.”

Viral video shared on TikTok by Joshua Beckler shows the aftermath of a recent theft at a Tesla Supercharger station in Vallejo, California.
The nine stations are seen without any of the cables attached to them as Beckler shows the core of the heavy duty cable, which is clearly rich in copper, whose value has soared in recent years.
The incident happened sometime over the weekend before it was reported to Vallejo police on Sunday morning.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Thursday issued a pardon for Daniel Perry, an Army sergeant who was convicted of murder for fatally shooting a Black Lives Matter (BLM) protester in 2020. (snip) The proclamation grants Perry a full pardon and “restoration of full civil rights of citizenship.”
(snip) Perry was working as an Uber driver and dropped a passenger off in downtown Austin. He was attempting to move his car through a crowd when he said Foster, who was legally armed, aimed his rifle at him.
Perry also legally had a gun on him and fired the pistol at Foster because he feared for his life.
