Footage has revealed how thieves in California are stealing copper-filled cables from Tesla charging stations. Viral video shared on TikTok by Joshua Beckler shows the aftermath of a recent theft at a Tesla Supercharger station in Vallejo, California. The nine stations are seen without any of the cables attached to them as Beckler shows the core of the heavy duty cable, which is clearly rich in copper, whose value has soared in recent years. The incident happened sometime over the weekend before it was reported to Vallejo police on Sunday morning.

Simple anti-theft measure: have a single wire running through the cable that is constantly charged to about the same voltage and amperage as that used in the electric chair, but otherwise has no purpose. Anybody sawing through the insulation receives an immediate, terminal surprise.

Just as most people will pass out before they drink enough alcohol to kill themselves, some forms of idiocy are self-limiting. When armed guards have to be posted by each charging station, the EV insanity will pass its high water mark, then fade to oblivion. Without those stations you're nowhere...literally.

#6, the NG would have to find them first. A six hour journey by EV already takes three days, if the weather is warm enough.

The answer to the EV question is to have Old Yeller make a cross country trip in one with no rescue vehicles in sight. See how he likes what he is making everyone use at some point.

Ah, looters! Gotta love them. They will walk off with anything. They stripped a rundown house near where I live. It's a shell now and unlivable. For sale, but who in their right mind would buy it. My favorite story was where I grew up. The steel mill shut down and people started looting it. They found a dead person there one day. Seemed he tried to cut a live copper wire. Btw, will those Tesla charging stations work for semi-trucks? Heheheheheh.

Am confused. Copper theft used to be a major problem. But the price of copper went down and with it copper theft. So another accomplishment for Bideteconomics is to drive the cost of copper back up?

To whom are they selling the wire? Who, exactly, is buying it? That's where the big fines/jail sentences should be focused. If there were no way to get cash for the stolen metal, the theft would stop.

I have scrapped some aluminum, lead and copper - legitimately. Before the pay-out, I had to show my DL and they took a fingerprint. The scrap buyers have to remove the rubber and other not-copper before weighing or downgrade the payout. That's an arduous job for the thief to do.

Former President Donald Trump said there is “probably a good chance” he will announce his vice presidential pick at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July. Generally, presumptive nominees announce their running mate in the weeks or months leading up to the convention. “I don’t say anything is 100%, but you’re getting pretty close,” Trump said when asked by Scripps News political correspondent Charles Benson if he will wait until the high-profile event, which takes place July 15-18. Waiting until the convention to announce a running mate is rare, but it could provide a major splash during what has become a mostly predictable four-day event.

US drugs chiefs are warning of deepening ties between Mexico's cartels and China as the fentanyl pills that claim lives from coast to coast are becoming more potent and deadlier. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has found evidence of Chinese middle men laundering more of the profits cartels make from selling narcotics in the United States. Meanwhile, the fentanyl that claims some 70,000 US lives each year has become even more dangerous, so that now some 70 percent of pills contain a fatal dose of the opioid.

COVID-19, which killed 1.1 million Americans and destroyed the lives and livelihoods of millions more, is a manmade virus that escaped from a Chinese lab partly funded by the US government. Even today, you’re not supposed to say that — even though it’s the only plausible scenario. No, “fact checkers” will rush in to claim that eminent scientists deny this. Which is because those scientists have too much invested — in money, in time, in their own beliefs — to admit the truth. But as Congress continues to probe, that truth is coming out, little by little, and the lies are being exposed:
