Senate Judiciary Republicans pressure
Democrats to tamp down Supreme Court investigation

If Senate Democrats plan to subpoena conservative judicial activists as part of a Supreme Court ethics investigation, Republicans say they must go after liberal advocates the same way. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-IL) has sought to authorize subpoenas for influential conservative judicial activist Leonard Leo and GOP megadonor Harlan Crow, defending the subpoenas as necessary after the pair's “defensive, dismissive refusals” to cooperate with a congressional investigation. Now, Republicans have proposed more than 150 additional subpoenas to broaden an investigation they say is one-sided against conservative justices on the high court.

Tut for Tat just like impeachments. Acting like little children and accomplishing very little toward addressing the country's problems. They'll use this to fund raise to keep them in DC where the most important task is to money grub.

Yes indeed, #1. They want to talk only after “safe” things and certainly not our nation being invaded from N, S, E and W every single day and night. They refuse to declare what govt spending cuts must be done. They won’t utter a peep of support for political prisoners of the rogue DOJ rotting in filthy jails. They have been stripped of all their Constitutional rights and most of Republican leadership more worried about getting Ukraine more money.

Anyone still wondering why voters trust former President Trump more than President Biden on the economy should read what the White House posted on X about inflation last week: “Ahead of the holiday season, costs are down for everything from airline tickets and car rentals to toys and TVs.” Biden and his underlings continue to believe public disapproval of his disastrous economic performance can be improved with happy talk and cherry picked statistics. It assumes Americans can’t remember how much less the cost of living was when Biden was elected.

Get a load of — and a laugh from — the latest political advice coming from the White House. Concerned about President Biden’s age and habit of falling, aides want him to shorten the distance he walks in public and wear softer, more flexible shoes to help keep him upright. Not since the late campaign whiz David Garth told New York’s Ed Koch and other clients to wear more blue on television has political advice been so basic. And with good reason, for, as even the propaganda media realize, it’s “not a good look” when the leader of the free world repeatedly falls up the steps of Air Force One.

Elon Musk Should Sue Media Matters Into Oblivion 6 replies

Over the weekend, Elon Musk said he plans to file a “thermonuclear lawsuit” against Media Matters for America, a left-wing propaganda shop whose sole reason for existing is to churn out deceptive, fake studies designed to pressure large firms to pull advertising from media outlets and platforms that don’t toe the leftist line. That’s precisely what Media Matters did last week when it released a bogus “report” alleging that X, formerly Twitter, runs ads for Apple, Bravo, IBM, Oracle, and Xfinity next to “pro-Nazi content.” Sure enough, after this report was published Thursday, Apple, IBM, and a bunch of other companies fell for the scam

The ongoing campaign by progressive activists to deny former President Trump a place on state ballots received yet another serious setback late Friday. After a weeklong bench trial, Denver District Court Judge Sarah Wallace issued a 102-page opinion in Anderson v. Griswold concluding that “Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment does not apply to Trump.” She ordered Colorado’s Secretary of State Jena Griswold to place his name on Colorado’s presidential primary ballot. This is the fourth state in three weeks to reject efforts to keep Trump off their ballots.

The White House is dismissing the idea President Joe Biden undermined his own diplomacy with Chinese President Xi Jinping by defending his earlier description of him as a dictator. "The president comes away from the meeting yesterday feeling very good about the content of the discussions over the course of four hours and the progress that we were able to make on some very significant fronts," national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters Thursday.Kirby cited the resumption of military-to-military communication as one achievement, in addition to commitments to counter fentanyl production and exportation through law enforcement and to cooperate on artificial intelligence. It’s not exactly breaking news that Joe Biden is historically unpopular, which is why a lot of Democrats from Manhattan to Malibu and everywhere in between just want him to wave goodbye and go home. So it’s no big shock that the recent New York Times-Siena College poll has Donald Trump beating Biden in five of six key battleground states. Biden’s poll numbers are underwater for a whole bunch of reasons — inflation, the chaos on our southern border, crime, those lingering questions about the president’s frailty, both physical and mental. And then there’s Sen. Joe Manchin, who may join Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West and Jill Stein

The commentariat has made much of recent surveys showing Trump ahead of Biden in swing states that probably will decide the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. A Bloomberg/MorningConsult poll released Friday, for example, shows Trump with modest leads among registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Emerson also released a survey on Friday indicating that Trump enjoys leads in the same states. The one that created the most buzz was a New York Times/Siena poll showing Trump ahead by even larger margins in Arizona (+5), Georgia (+6), Michigan (+5), Nevada (+10), and Pennsylvania (+4).

James Comer first hinted at the move on Sunday, suggesting that a slate of subpoenas would be on the way. Several others, including James Biden's wife, have also been requested to come in for transcribed interviews. It seems unlikely most would comply voluntarily.(Snip)Negotiations will commence in short order to figure out exactly when those subpoenaed will have to appear. It's very likely that all interviews will happen behind closed doors

In 2005, Palestinian Arabs were given autonomy over the Gaza Strip for the first time in their history. To make it happen, the Israeli government forcibly removed thousands of Israelis from the area. Without military protection, Jews would be murdered by Palestinians, who prefer their land Judenfrei. As Jews were being evicted from their homes, some began to dismantle the farms and hothouses they’d built, reluctant to hand over years of hard work. In the name of peace, however, American Jewish donors purchased the 3,000 remaining greenhouses that stood over 1,000 acres for $14 million and gave it to the Palestinian Authority, gratis.

Political motives lie not far beneath the surface of everything Congress does. That is appropriate in a democracy. But we expect the House, and especially the Senate, to retain at least some pretense of exercising its powers in the public interest. Instead, the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are abusing its investigatory powers simply to campaign against Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow. Dick Durbin, Sheldon Whitehouse, and their committee will reportedly vote within the next two weeks to subpoena Leo and Crow, as well as Robin Arkley II, who is targeted over a fishing trip with Justice Samuel Alito 15 years ago.

According to a new Washington Post story, the Biden team is at its wit's end. They don't know what to do to convince the American people that the economy is in good shape. Of course, part of the reason they're failing so badly is because people know how much more they've had to pay for everything, and they see the high interest rates. Young people who would like to buy a home can't even do so in the current economy. But they're still trying to sell this to us, such as by claiming Thanksgiving was cheaper this year.

At one point in the discussion, they were discussing the COVID vaccines and the pandemic, and Stone argued that Biden was being authoritarian with his vaccine mandates. “That's one form of it,” Maher replied. "I would say the form that Trump is threatening us with is even worse." “Which is what?” Stone asked. "Well, I mean, he doesn’t concede elections, you know, the elections only count if we win theory of government.

Like Longfellow’s little girl, who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead, sometimes ad agencies are very good indeed, and sometimes they’re horrid. When they’re good, it’s worth taking note because, as with all media, those short videos have a disproportionate effect on the American psyche. In the case of Chevy’s holiday ad, that effect can only be good. When I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s, in the pre-streaming age, you watched ads whether or not you wanted to. These years were the heydays of jingles and slogans. Indeed, for us, jingles were a family tradition.

"Like you said, I've taken care of three presidents… so I know firsthand what it takes to be the commander-in-chief and the head of state. It's a grueling job, both mentally and physically. This man can't do the job. He's proven to us every single day that he can't do the job, but this is going to get worse."
