Politico Should Fire Josh Gerstein

Just how corrupt are journalists these days? Consider this example from earlier in the week involving the explosive Minnesota fraud scandal – the one the mainstream media covered up for years and is now busy trying to downplay. On Tuesday, Josh Gerstein, a “senior legal affairs reporter” for Politico, weighed in in response to the Nick Shirley video, in which the amateur journalist took his camera to various empty taxpayer-supported “day care centers” that were obvious fronts. Instead of expressing outrage that fraudsters were stealing massive amounts of money meant to support poor families – and his

Yep, he should be fired for ignorance and stupidity. "Stand your ground" laws have no application whatsoever, no relationship to a person answering the door to a home or business. POSSIBLY, castle doctrine could have some relationship to this situation, but there is absolutely NO legal case to be made for shooting someone who comes to your door and asks questions. Your front porch is a public place, can be approached by any person. You CAN order them to leave, and if they do not, call the police and have them arrested for trespass if they refuse to leave. You will be arrested FOR CERTAIN if you shoot at them. The only legitimate self defense is for a violent attack. And knocking on a door and asking a question is never a violent attack, never grounds for shooting. Perhaps kicking down the door and threatening violence might possibly rise to self defense - but there is not even a hint that this occurred. Gerstein is either very ignorant and very stupid (two separate afflictions) or he is just a liar . Could easily be all three.

It might seem that public policy insanity has reached an end in California. After all, what more could the state’s malevolent progressive politics concoct to make it more hostile to business, innovation, enterprise, and hard work than it already is? How about a tax on those who drive the economy? Yes, that should do it. The Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West and St. John’s Community Health in Los Angeles have teamed up to concoct the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act, a citizen-initiated statute that might appear on the ballot next November. Should it pass, it would levy a “one-time 5% tax on California billionaires in this emergency

Nick Shirley’s 42-minute YouTube video on daycare fraud in Minnesota is shocking not just because of the scale of abuse he uncovered in a day. It’s shocking because it took a young kid to expose this years-long scheme. Where was the mainstream media all this time? In the must-see video, Shirley teams up with a citizen investigator and goes door-to-door visiting various “daycare” facilities in Minneapolis that got millions in taxpayer money through a Child Care Assistance Program. The first two “daycare centers” are both located at the same address in an industrial park,

Just about every year at this time, “A Christmas Carol” shows up somewhere on TV, as do headlines about how one Republican or another is the modern equivalent of the tale’s greedy miser, Ebenezer Scrooge. “The GOP’s sad Scrooge agenda.” “GOP Protecting Ebenezer Scrooge.” “Maher Likens Republicans to Ebenezer Scrooge.” “Republicans play the role of the stingy Scrooge.” You have to wonder if these folks have actually read “A Christmas Carol” or spent any time pondering what Scrooge actually says and does. Because if you do, you come to realize that Scrooge more closely resembles a modern liberal than a conservative.

Timing is everything in humor, and in politics. So, it was particularly amusing to read a piece in MS NOW on Monday quoting Democrats who were all singing from the same hymnal – namely that President Donald Trump “owns the economy.” ‘When you take office, you take ownership,’ Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., told MS NOW. ‘That’s what leadership is about.’ ‘It became Trump’s economy a long time ago,’ Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., said. Obviously, these Democrats meant it in a bad way. But then, on Tuesday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis released its estimate for GDP growth

Remember the bratty but fabulously worshipped Greta Thunberg thundering “How dare you” in front of the United Nations, in a screeching speech in which she claimed “We are in the beginning of a mass extinction”? The adults swooned at her feet, not just at the U.N. but at every stop she has made on her never-ending, neurotic speaking tour. But did anyone fact-check her? They should have. She was wrong. Then 16, several years before she caught the next trend and became a Palestinian justice warrior, Thunberg told the General Assembly in 2019 that “People are suffering. People are dying.

We have been writing about the weaponization of government under the Obama and Biden regimes for many years, but even we were shocked by the two revelations of FBI corruption this week, neither of which has received the attention that both deserve. On Sunday, Just the News reported on evidence it had obtained of how the FBI actively thwarted an investigation into the Clinton Foundation in the run-up to the 2016 election. On Tuesday, it reported newly disclosed evidence that the FBI ignored concerns about not having probable cause to mount its unprecedented raid on Donald Trump’s home in August 2022.

At some point, there will be no news about the Ford Motor Company’s electric vehicle fiasco. But we’re not there yet, as the most recent reports show that the automaker is paying dearly for its commitment to a Potemkin market built by a government that promised favors to companies that would follow its agenda. Ford’s EV misfortunes have reached a nearly unimaginable low. The company announced Monday that it’s taking a $19.5 billion writedown while eliminating a number of its EV models. Reuters calls it “the most dramatic example yet of the auto industry’s retreat from battery-powered models,”

One of the unanswered questions raised by Minnesota’s massive welfare scandal is how it could have gone on so long, given its scale and the fact that alarm bells had been clanging for years. The New York Times provided the answer, if inadvertently, when it quoted a former fraud investigator in the state attorney general’s office, who said that “There is a perception that forcefully tackling this issue might cause political backlash among the Somali community, which is a core voting bloc” for Democrats. That is it in a nutshell when it comes to government waste, fraud, and abuse.

Americans mostly trust the nation’s highest court to do what’s best, presumably by scrupulously following the laws enshrined in the 238-year-old U.S. Constitution. But that trust could be tested in coming months, as the Supreme Court decides whether President Donald Trump’s tariffs pass constitutional muster, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. When U.S. Supreme Court Justices are sworn in to office, they vow to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” With this in mind, the I&I/TIPP Poll this month asked voters simply:

The Democrats have decided that “affordability” is the issue that will win the next election cycle. Are they daft? The most unaffordable states and cities in the country are Democrat strongholds. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the Democrat from New York, one of the least affordable states in the country, has told party leaders they need “to adopt a laser focus on the affordability crisis,” says Axios. Politico noted that the “Democrats are gearing up to hammer the GOP on the issue,” then quickly jumped in to help, declaring that the “Republicans have an affordability problem.” Will the Democrat strategy work? Not if voters get the facts,

Jessica Tarlov, Fox News' resident liberal panelist on The Five, has demonstrated her lack of intelligence once again. (Snip)Tarlov actually questioned whether Shirley, working mainly on his own, could have genuinely uncovered the full scale of the alleged fraud. The U.S. Postal Service has updated its rules to clarify that postmarks may not match the date mail was deposited, a shift stemming from network overhauls that could complicate deadlines for tax filings, ballots, and legal documents. The change, which became effective on December 24, adds a new section to the Domestic Mail Manual stating that “… while the presence of a postmark on a mailpiece confirms that the Postal Service was in possession of the mailpiece on the date of the postmark’s inscription, the postmark date does not inherently or necessarily align with the date on which the Postal Service first accepted possession of the mailpiece.”

For generations across the South, black-eyed peas have traditionally been served on New Year's Day. The dish is associated with a "mystical and mythical power to bring good luck" in the year ahead, according to writer John Egerton in his book "Southern Food: At Home, On the Road, In History." For years, Cracker Barrel served as a reliable last stop for displaced Southerners trying to uphold a New Year's Day tradition. If black-eyed peas weren't simmering at home, they could be ordered alongside cornbread and country sides.
