The collapse of faith in the legacy media

I’m frustrated when colleagues treat evening news as gospel, eagerly discussing 60 Minutes or Rachel Maddow’s take on events. After revelations like CBS’s edited Kamala Harris interview and plummeting cable news viewership, I’m stunned that anyone still trusts legacy media, especially people who otherwise seem rational. A February Gallup poll reveals that 31% of Americans trust media outlets, with 33% expressing “not much” trust and 36% none at all. This is a sharp decline from the 1970s, when 72% trusted mass media. The poll highlights a partisan divide: 54% of Democrats, 27% of independents, and 12% of Republicans trust mainstream media. This gap reflects confirmation bias,

So irritating. First citing polls which are usually wrong or improperly constructed, then claiming participants are dumb. These "journalists" never include themselves in the elitist analysis.

This article is a bit of mental masturbation. It talks about lack of trust but fails to lay the blame and justification for that blame where it belongs, on the media that DECIDED to become propaganda organizations aligned with the Left. Here's a clarifying thought. We spent 4 years with a blatantly SENILE resident in the Oval Office. Even now, some of the media wants to resist admitting that AND if they do, still feel justified in supporting the dems because the alternative would have been Trump, who they LOATHE. For 4 years they avoided asking questions, which IS THEIR JOB, about Biden's behavior and created a wall of defense for him. When he declared he would run AGAIN, his obvious decline should have had them pressuring him to step aside. But they did not. They supported him until his blatant collapse on live TV made it impossible to do so. Having learned NO sense of responsibility for their job, they quickly pivoted to supporting Kamala, an obvious dummy, who had no business being anywhere near the Presidency. We had 4 YEARS of obvious reasons not to trust the media AND more reasons continue to pile up. Frankly, those in media are NOT good people. So, are there negative effects of not having trust in media? Absolutely, but propaganda media has made that IMPOSSIBLE! The public has realized they need other sources, INCLUDING their own analysis of events. We have to PAY ATTENTION and ASK our own questions. When it looks like the Left is doing something stupid, they probably are. When the media denies it, they are CONFIRMING that we shouldn't trust them. We need to seek other sources and listen carefully to what they say and notice how stories play out. When a source says THIS is what is going on and a few weeks of observation confirms it, they earn trust. Multiple confirmed stories builds trust. Multiple wrong stories, like in the propaganda media, confirms we are right not to trust them. Turning to lying media is worse than not having them at all. Others are emerging that can be trusted but none of them deserve absolute trust. An observant citizen is the best guard of the Republic.

Most MSM operates as the propaganda arm of the Democrat party. They parrot the Democrat talking points almost word for word. Some of misinformation and lies in this propaganda is so outrageous that it is a wonder that anyone believes it. Since those who lean Democrat are being told the same thing by both Democrats and the MSM, word for word, confirms the propaganda. But, the fact that those who lean Republican are the butt of the misinformation and lies, they recognize them as such. The statistics that those who lean Democrat are believing the lies and those who lean Republican are not.

No one believes the media. The media's goal is not the truth. The goal is to sway opinions through propaganda, spin, and narrative.

#3, very well said. All one needs to ask is how would the report this if it was Trump or the Trump administration. They would rather lose their credibility than to give Trump a win on anything - just look at the Iran bombing which has just made the WORLD safer and how they have bent over backwards to say it didn't do much despite the Iranians stating it was major blow. And the Israeli's, who's intelligence in that area is FAR superior to anything John Brennan or others like him, could ever know, have reported it was a major hit to Iran's nuclear ambitions.

June 27 really needs to be a national holiday wherein we collectively observe the bottomless depravity of the dying news media. We could call it something like “Biden Debate Day.” The date is significant because it was the start of a 131-day journey that showed just how far the media were willing to go to steal an election. June 27 was the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, or as I like to recall it, “The day the media knew Biden had to go.” Up until then — it was the one and only time voters got to directly compare Trump and Biden side by side in 2024 —

They’re building a statue. Not for Hank Aaron. Not for a war hero, a humanitarian, or a man who walked clean through the game. But for Barry Bonds. Let that sit for a second. The San Francisco Giants will install it outside Oracle Park, treating it like a crown jewel. A monument not just to what he did but to how he did it and how everyone around him pretended not to notice. The fans. The press. The suits. All of them. And now they’re going to bronze it. I remember what he looked like in the ’90s. Lean. Fast. A five-tool player who could steal a bag and hit all fields.

It’s very early in the Iran nuclear story, but one thing is certain: What Barack Obama gave to Iran—millions and millions of dollars in cash on wooden pallets to make The Bomb—Trump just took back. Obama had no problems with Iran developing a nuclear weapon. The money he gave the Mullahs was to go toward that end. Islamophilic Obama thought that the country that vowed “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” had every right to have nuclear weapons with which to carry out those threats. Iran had been threatening to vaporize all of us with nukes for years. Obama apparently thought, “Why not?” and sent them

Think about this for a second, and I mean that: Is there anything good Democrats have added to your life? I’m not talking about “Democrats” ever – Thomas Jefferson having existed is obviously an easy net-plus for everyone’s life – but the current crop of Democrats who exist in Washington, DC, and pretty much anywhere else. The answer is no. AOC has no legislative accomplishments, and neither do any of the other members of the goon squad sniffing around her throne. We know now that Joe Biden and Merrick Garland corrupted and politicized the Department of Justice to a degree never before seen in American history. Biden’s DOJ went after the Catholic Church and parents who didn’t like what their school boards were doing, and that was shameful. But target number one for Biden’s DOJ was Biden’s biggest political rival, Donald Trump. The Biden administration was a banana republic era in American history, in which our government weaponized law enforcement to try to imprison its most dangerous opponent. Senator Chuck Grassley is the whistleblower’s friend, and he has done as much as anyone to expose the corruption of the Biden era.

On the 10th anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges (federally mandating “marriage equality”), it’s proper to ask whether same-sex marriage is a good idea. One reason to think that it’s not is the existence of an epistemic oddity, an oddity which strongly undermines any argument for same-sex marriage (hereafter “SSM”). The oddity in question is characterized by what may be called an "underdetermination asymmetry." Start with the following very simple observation. There are two ultimate positions in the SSM debate, and only two. On the one hand, there’s love or care as the basis of marriage, as in the view of SSM’s

Zohran Mamdani, winner of the Democratic Party’s New York City mayoral primary, is overflowing with Marxist ideas of how to govern that are so lousy that it’s hard to believe he got more than his own vote in Tuesday’s election. Each of them is horrendous, from free bus services to rent control to punitive taxes on those who create prosperity, but none are quite so laughable as his proposal to establish a chain of city-run grocery stores. Mamdani’s campaign literature – overflowing with empty leftist jargon – says if elected he “will create a network of city-owned grocery stores focused on keeping prices low, not making a profit.”

CNN last week got their hands on a classified document stolen from the National Security Agency. That’s a felony punishable by ten years in prison, by the way. The stolen document guessed that the efforts by Israel and America to neutralize Iran’s nuclear weapon program had set back the program by only “a few months.” CNN and the rest of the media cabal could hardly contain their glee. They celebrated the failure of America and Israel. Hardly mentioned in CNN’s report was that the document itself noted that its conclusions were merely “preliminary” and were expressed with only “low confidence.”

In a 6-3 decision, SCOTUS decided that parents do have the right to opt their elementary school-aged (pre-K through 8th grade) children out of classroom instruction that may include materials on gender and sexuality. The three dissenters were Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito states that the parents involved were likely to succeed in their claim that the school system, by not allowing the opt-out on LGBTQ-themed classroom activities, was an unconstitutional burden on their religious liberties.
