The Supreme Court announced that it was adding another opinion day to its schedule -- Wednesday, June 26th. Among the pending cases is United States v. Trump, in which the court must decide to what extent presidential immunity shields the president from criminal prosecution for actions taken while in office. While the content of the discussions during oral arguments are not a perfect indicator of how the court will rule, Scotus blog sat through oral argument and concluded the court is likely to side with Donald Trump to some degree:

They had better decide with Trump to a large degree or only someone who is insane would ever take the office.

There appears to be no guarantee that an opinion in the case will be delivered next Wednesday. Seems to me that Chief Justice Roberts has missed many opportunities to save this country, and that there is little reason to think he won't do it again. The forlorn hope I can see is that he is taking the maximum time to try to convince one or more of the "lefty ladies" to join in the majority. Fool's errand.

So what democrats are saying...is...that President Truman could be held responsible for his decision to bomb Japan and save thousands of American soldiers the invasion of the country....and George W could be held responsible for the Iraq war because there were NO weapons of mass destruction....and Obama/biden are responsible for the pull out of Afghanistan and losing billions in equipment to the Taliban...

In a perfect world, SCOTUS would require Judge Chutkan to ajudicate each one of the 13 million pages of DOJ evidence, stamp and sign each page as personal or Presidential acts. She could not finish this task in her remaining lifetime. After all, she only gave Trump's defense four months to review those millions of pages. In her own logic, she should have anticipated that task, and she should have been working on it all along.

iow, they long for nuremberg 2.0 so they might nest in cosy mansions, surrounded by armed guards, during ww3-- whilst the citizens of the world unite--to put all these murderers and enablers on trial in an international tribunal re-commenced for that renewed purpose, which ends with recycling them, i.e. : swimming them in irish bogs for a few seconds at most, at no expense to the taxpayer...? do let us know, your honours...if it please you... /s/

Roberts thinks that part of his job is not to make political waves. There will be no ruling on immunity prior to the debate. That being said, based upon the questions asked by the justices, I think Trump will benefit from the decision.

The owner of one of New York’s most famous eateries is exploring a run for mayor. Junior’s Restaurant proprietor Alan Rosen — upset with crime and quality of life complaints in the Big Apple — wants to bring his cheese cake making skills to City Hall. Rosen recently met with campaign strategist Hank Sheinkopf, Bill Cunningham and Mitchell Moss, who served as political advisors to former three-term mayor, Mike Bloomberg, to discuss what it takes to run for mayor — and win, The Post has learned. Rosen said he’s interested in running for mayor,” Sheinkopf said after meeting with him.

Would you like to hear about a bright ray of political sunshine penetrating the dense political cloud cover? The Republican Party has long been haunted by the specter of platform infidelity on the part of the party’s elected officeholders. Far too often, a Republican candidate fervently vows fidelity to the party platform during a campaign but, once elected, sheds this fervor like a duck sheds water. The officeholder’s primary agenda becomes re-election, and his/her stance on issues is determined by its probable effect on re-election rather than advancing platform values.

Gotham’s budget might be late, with City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams warning last week that she and Mayor Adams (no relation) will miss this Sunday’s fiscal-year deadline. But the timing of the budget is less important than the substance. The council and the mayor are arguing over tidbits while missing the big chunk of spending obscuring New York’s future: How much can we realistically spend on migrants? In his budget proposal, the mayor has finally admitted to reality — the migrant “crisis” is here to stay. This is a reality that he helped create, by continuing to offer all migrants, including single young men with no credible claims to political asylum,

During his Friday broadcast on HBO, apparently Bill Maher started to catch on to the issue of fake media polling. Maher questions how Biden could be losing big percentages of his core constituency (by demographic), yet suddenly be polling ahead of Trump. It just doesn’t make sense.Bill Maher: “45% of Hispanic voters prefer Biden, compared to 39% for Trump. Last time, he won 59%. That was 2020. So, he’s lost 14 points there. He went to Morehouse, he said, ‘What is democracy if you have to be ten times better than anyone else to get a fair shot?’

Most of the time Fox News builds in plausible deniability; however, this time the notorious Fox News pollster Daron Shaw has gone full bananas on behalf of those who pay him to create polling narratives. Daron Shaw should be well known to CTH readers {Go Deep}. Shaw has been the Fox News poll manipulator and narrative engineer for over a decade. Knowing the Trump v Biden debate was coming, we knew Fox News would arrange some anti-Trumpism media narrative to capitalize on the predictable corporate theme. However, to see the Fox team make “Threats To Democracy” the #1 concern of voters, is just a talking point too far.

The financially struggling Post had announced Winnett would take over as editor of the core newsroom functions after November’s presidential election,

South America is doing the world a favor at the moment, but you have to tune in to reap the benefits. Just as South and North Korea and West and East Germany became perfect Cold War laboratory experiments contrasting the blessings of democracy and capitalism with the destructive drudgery of communism, the reformist government in Argentina and the Marxist-led ones in Colombia and Brazil are inviting us to compare and contrast. Hint: You won’t have to do much research to see which system is still the best.

An appeals court in Washington, D.C., denied Steve Bannon’s attempt to avoid prison Thursday. Bannon asked the federal appeals court earlier this month to delay his imminent prison sentence on contempt of Congress charges. The court denied his request, noting that his argument “does not a warrant a departure from the general rule.” In a 2-1 decision, the judges decided that a stay would not be warranted because Bannon’s argument does not bring up “a close question or one that very well could be decided the other way.”

Maher says so many annoying things in this clip, but his basic thesis is correct. After every war, millions of people end up moving because of the impact of the wars they are in. More than any other group, the Jewish people have been moved, ethnically cleansed, and killed over the centuries. But the only people in the world who never stop complaining and insist on kicking out all of the Jews “from the river to the sea” are the Arabs in the Land of Israel. His point on Mexico is classic. And yes, Maher is right – the Jewish people are here to stay.

Considering how much attention the American media get, it’s amazing that one piece of actual, unbelievable subversion keeps going on. That is the Al Jazeera network — founded, funded and directed by the terrorist-supporting state of Qatar. Last month, The Washington Post reported darkly that the Israeli government had shut down the Al Jazeera network’s operations in Israel because of its coverage from Gaza. WaPo portrayed this as a “dark day” for press freedom. In fact, there were a lot of good reasons for the Israelis to stop the network from operating inside Israel.

Recently, the entire media and public sphere exploded after some results surfaced regarding the ongoing EU Parliament elections, which saw the election of many nationalists and conservatives. If we separate the wheat from the chaff, in the end the results are quite clear: there are much more seats taken by conservative or right-leaning groups and a lot of seats lost by left-leaning representatives. Let’s look just at the preliminary numbers in regards to the EU as a whole: as of the writing of this article, the Renew Europe political group, which aligns itself, according to their website, with liberal democratic values and against “autocrats,” has lost 22 seats in the Parliament.

An increasingly desperate Emmanuel Macron has warned the public that “civil war” awaits France if they fail to vote for his brand of centrist neo-liberalism in the upcoming legislative elections. The embattled French leader, who’s party is trailing in third place in the snap elections he called, said that the “response of the extreme right” to France’s current problems would lead to insecurity
