Mike Pompeo wisely opted out of the 2024 presidential primary this week, but if you were expecting Mike Pence to follow suit, you’re likely going to be disappointed. The former Veep showed up at an RNC donor summit in Tennessee last night and while he didn’t make an official announcement, he was going after the other primary contenders (including his former boss) and sounding very much like he will soon throw his hat in the ring.

We have a bunch of "Republicans" now Mike! Such as Mitch McConnell, Cornyn, Graham, etc., and my state's (and yours too, Mike) Todd Young. Big spenders, back bone-less wonders. No thanks, Mike . . . just go away!

Why on earth can’t (former) politicians retire quietly and enjoy the wealth they have accumulated? They must have egos the size of the Grand Canyon.

This coming from a man who blamed President Trump for putting his life in danger on January 6, 2021. What a coward and a wuss.

Don't agree with all the vitriol being thrown at Pence. He is a solid and decent man who served Trump faithfully and well for four years. Moreover, he did betray Trump in any way - at no point did he promise to reject those electors only to go back on his pledge. Cries of "Judas!" and "Back stabber!" are unjustified.
That said, I do think that as president Pence might too easily slide into the George W. mode (that religious freedom thing in Indiana still sticks in my craw). I will support him if he is nominated, but wouldn't hold out much hope for major change.

I'm a member of the republican party. I find most Republicans, repulsive uniparty infiltraitors. MAGA means something. Pence is at best, a damned fool.

Pence wants Republicans to "run as Rinos". There, fixed it.
And no thanks jellyfish, millions of Conservatives have had enough of you and other high-minded, sage, rinos reaching across the aisle. In other words, giving the democommies everything they wanted over the last 40-50 years!

12, he made an oath to this country and the constitution. He knew the election was dirty and wouldn't lift a finger to even delay certification until the dirt could be examined.
He is a traitor to his country.

# 15, kindly explain how Pence's acceptance of those electoral slates constituted a violation of his vice-presidential oath.
You may recall that.he concluded that he had no authority to reject the slates, and that the law concerning the matter (the 1887 hodgepodge) was a real muddle.
Pence acted in accordance with what he believed to be legal authority. Plainly, he took his oath seriously. Gut feelings or "knowing" the results were suspect was irrelevant to the execution of his duty as he saw it.

#17, it violated Pence’s oath to defend and protect the Constitution and to faithfully serve the American public. That “muddled” act could indeed have been used by the Vice President to take a step back and let states try to resolve their electoral issues. That’s what it was for. In fact, that act that didn’t say what we all thought it said was so weak, confusing and insignificant that Congress put all their effort into changing it ASAP. If that isn’t what it was for, why change it? Mike Pence is a traitor of the highest order and deliberately and with malice stabbed President Trump in the back.

Define, "Republican." All I can remember about the "Republican Party" is that it favored lower taxes and elimination of trade barriers. Which translated to fewer jobs for Americans and more income for those in the highest economic strata. Those welfare of the hoi polloi never counted for anything in that Republican Party. By the way, somebody really ought to tell Pence that his "Republican Party" is dead and gone.

This is going to be great! Trump will rollover Pence like a road flattening machine. Pence, the nonentity with zero charisma, and nothing to offer, except appointing rino's, will be a disaster at Republican debates. Remember how frightened Pence was, when surrounded by Trump supporters. Whined his wife and daughter were with him. I am sure they were standing in front of him.

Mike Pence has made a career of projecting the image of a righteous, pedantic fuddy-duddy. They scare me because of their inauthenticity. They do this because they believe it will be useful to them.

Re #17, he concluded wrong. If he was muddled on the law he had no business being vice president, let alone president. Most here know more about the law than he did on that crucial day.
He was expected to follow the law. He did not. He failed. And then he turned on President Trump, to whom he was never loyal. The election was about law, not loyalty. Pence failed.

Pence has no idea of how badly he’ll get crushed in any primary against Trump. He might not even break double digits. We’re wise to him now.

I’m hoping that his campaign will go like Commie-la’s did and he’ll drop out before the first primary due to lack of interest and funding. And absolutely no one on the planet will decide to put him on a ticket as VP again.

# 24, everybody and his brother is an outhouse lawyer.
And # 19, the changes to that 1887 law were initiated after the fact. Pence had to work with what he had. And please recall that those electoral slates were already certified by the respective states. There were no "issues" as you describe it.
Pence did his duty as he saw it. Whether or not he was mistaken (see my reply to # 24) should not lead anyone to question his patriotism. Whether or not he is presidential material (and I am NOT inclined to support him) will be determined by the voters in the primaries.
