A Trump–DeSantis Ticket Can Win in 2024

The Democratic Party and President Joe Biden are wrecking the country. Their ongoing economic blunders, perverse cultural agenda, and corrupt foreign policy, if unchecked in the near future, will turn the United States into a dystopian nightmare comparable to Venezuela. This can be averted if former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis run together on the 2024 Republican presidential ballot. Neither can win in 2024 without the other, even if the Democratic alternative is an unpopular incumbent whose running mate is a running joke.

Can both the President and the Vice President be from the same state?
L-dotters who know, chip in!
By the way, another person that I think would make a good VP candidate is Senator Kennedy .... the one from Louisiana.
Solidly conservative, quick-witted, with a great sense of humor.

The 11th or 12th amendment (I think it is the 11th) does not permit electors to vote for a Presidential Candidate and Vice Presidential candidate from the same state. Now, the amendment may be written that the electors of a specific state may not vote for the candidates from the same state, but in this case, the problem would be that the Florida electors would not be able to vote for either Trump or DeSantis.
Now Trump could move back to New York or New Jersey and that would be moot.

The smart move would be Trump—DeSantis. Trump president for 4 years and then DeSantis president for 8 years.

I usually like what Catron has to say, but this is a complete non-starter. For one thing, Ron DeSantis is a DOER, not a warmup act or mop up man. He could no more be Trump's second banana than Trump could handle a restless vice president who speaks his mind.
Secondly, DeS would be wasted in the vice presidency. He is a talented executive. What good would he do the country attending ribbon cutting ceremonies and traveling to the funerals of foreign dignitaries?
Finally, how would DeSantis in the second spot make Trump's presidential candidacy more appealing to voters? We know from election history that people vote for the name at the top of the ticket, the electoral effect of running mates is negligible,
Forget about Trump/DeSantis, The Donald is going to have to win this on his own, if that is even possible.

he’s called him, I don’t think they will ever run together.

So, he thinks that's the remedy to win. All the short term memories regarding election fraud that the RNC leadership pretends doesn't exist. The opposition has it down to a science to where can a Republican ever win the Whitehouse?

Heck No! I don’t want Desantis/Pence undercutting PDJT another 4 years.
Trump needs a Prosecutor as VP to fight the Bureaucracy Wars. Downsize, indict, imprison Felons All over the deep state for their felonies and future threats to our Liberty and Constitution. DOJ, IRS, FBI, State Dept, Military, DOEnergy, DOeducation, Fisa Court, CIA, NSA, Fed Reserve…. Drop size of those by 90%, move to Iowa, Texas/Az border towns, breaker all up. President is the Executive of the Government,
Go on the offensive and never let up.

I like the sound of a Trump/Lake ticket. DeSantis can honor his promise to the people in his state. No one can win without Trump’s base and we are going no where. So why not unite and support Trump and let him drag this country away from the clutches of these democrat communists. It’s going to take someone with a spine of steel and dare I say it, determination to serve up some real payback with no apologies to make. What democrats have done to this country that is not only criminal but morally reprehensible.

Unless I start hearing full throated support from Santos, he remains today’s stalking horse for Bushies and Rove and the establishment to get back to the executive branch and globalize what’s left.
We saw this in 1980, where the conservative got stuck with the liberal republican entourage that prevented the conservative legacy of Reagan from continuing.
Now that’s it’s clear that a DeSantis backer is a Wall Street globalist orchestrated by Rove, we can move on.

This isn’t going to happen. Trump/Lake would be more likely. I like DeSantis a lot but this isn’t his time. The Trump supporters want revenge and they deserve it. Biden and his handlers have created a dumpster fire and Trump can quickly put it out. Everyone knows this, including the Democrats.

Sure it could... but DeSantis is an Alpha-prime, not some sub-Gamma. He and Trump would be in constant disagreement over "how" to accomplish a goal. Trump needs someone to attend funerals and to work on the things he doesn't have the bandwidth to deal with. A more quiet firebrand from the House would be good. I would choose a House veteran over a Senate dolt as a way of putting it in RINO faces over their traitor, McTurtle.
I like DeSantis and have seen nothing not to like... yet.

IMO, a far better option would be (a) for the two men to bury the hatchet. (b) For DeSantis to work hard to get Trump elected in '24. (c) complete his second term as Florida governor and join the Trump cabinet in '26 for two years. (d) run in '28 to continue Trump policies - which he is doing now anyway..

I like DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy, but neither of them are Vice Presidential material. They are both leaders and I can't see either one of them playing second fiddle.. Their personalities are too strong and they have their own ideas and agendas. They would butt heads with Trump. IF Trump is the nominee, they'll have to wait their turn.

#7, don’t be too sure about that. Commie-la called Xiden a racist in the first debate and then joined his ticket. It’s normal for candidates to beat each other up in the primaries and then run together in the general.

No, no and no! DeSantis is our man and doesn’t need to be anyone’s VP. He is leading in polls already without declaring candidancy! Trump should not be the nominee in ‘24. He is damaged - between the Deep State’s efforts and his own fumbles, he is done. Onward to new candidates.

I agree with # 6, 9 and others. DeS is too valuable and young to waste on a shadow -like VP position. After the next 4 years of DJT, people won't want (and the Uniparty wouldn't allow) DeS to be on the ticket.
Finally, I need him here in FL to protect us in the event Brandon or another spook DOES run and win.

Finally, someone has stated the obvious path to victory, except for his unnecessary remarks about Trump's ego. My hope is Trump will be the pragmatic businessman and come to the same conclusion. I also hope DeSantis does enter the race, but continues to raise his name ID and raise money for the party.

I didn't proofread my comment very well. What I meant to say was -"I also hope DeSantis does not enter the race." I would add this will be Trump's most important decision. He needs a VP who's got a record of implementing his policies and can be POTUS if necessary. Whoever he picks will be first in line for 2028, so DeSantis appears to me as the logical choice if both men really want to win. Reagan picked Bush. JFK overrode his brother's choice and picked LBJ.

@john56 I have a slightly different read. I think Florida electors could vote for either Trump as president and Desantis as VP, but not both. Could that result in a split ticket? Don't know.
For those Desantis fans, if you believe that you can judge people by the company they keep, then you might want to look at people like Karl Rove and Jeb Bush who are supporting Desantis.
Here's the language:
Article II states: “The electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves.”

Re #3, I don't think that they can be from the same state. The operative language comes in the Electoral College voting system.
US Constitutution Article II, Clause 3:
"The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two Persons, of whom one at least shall not be an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves."
This would SEEM to mean that the Florida electors couldn't vote for two people from Florida.
Remember - the idea was originally that the winner in the EC was made President, and the second place vote getter in the EC was made VP. We sorta don't actually do that any more - and I am a bit fuzzy on how they get around the Constitution on that one.

Sorry, David Catron, can only agree with your first two sentences.
Let President Trump pick his own VP this time.
He was ill-advised so often before, he now KNOWS what he wants to accomplish this next time, and to get strong MAGA attorneys at most swing states’ election HQs 24-7, with secure locks [and one trusted person with the key] on the signature-verified, hand-signed ballot, hand-counted and observed by both parties, one day voting bag!
MAGA

DeSantis took on Disney and the medical mafia in Florida and won. Trump took on China and the entire Middle East and won while fighting extreme resistance and false charges from his own intelligence agencies and the democrat lunatics populating congress. DeSantis is not on the same level as Donald Trump and won't be for several decades. A damaged Trump against the rest of them is like a damaged nuclear boomer pitted against the Monitor and the Merrimac.

Two things:
1: No it can't: because the Cheating will not just continue, but will be even more massive, because the GOP refuses to get serious about making elections honest again.
2: No it can't: they bicker over minor things like an old married couple who can't stand each other anymore, but are too fearful to go out on their own.
