More than 10K New Yorkers flee to Florida
in 2023

If you bought stock in U-Haul in the past couple of years, your retirement account is probably looking better than a lot of other people’s. (Particularly those who invested in Budweiser.) If it feels like there’s a lot of traffic on the roads these days, particularly along the east coast, it’s not your imagination. And most of that traffic is heading south. In the first three months of 2023, more than ten thousand people fled New York and relocated to Florida. If things keep going at this pace, Ron DeSantis is going to run out of places to put them all. Only 10K? I was one in 2022. Bye Bye New York! Actually, 10K is only the first 3 months of 2023 so they are on track for same numbers as 2022. Hochul should never have told people to move if they did not like New York. As for liberals moving to Florida, you might be surprised. Talked to my liberal brother recently. He still lives in New York. He won't visit Florida because of its governor. Told my brother the feeling is mutual since I will never visit New York. The dirty little secret is liberals actually like living in liberal states like New York.

The people who are fleeing aren't necessarily all Dems; some could be upstate Republicans who were, after all, invited to leave by their governor because they weren't "real New Yorkers". Way to go, Kathy; enjoy working within your new tax base. The people still left in your state won't appreciate being told they'll have to cough up additional taxes to make up the difference ~ additional tax dollars for no discernable services rendered. Maybe at some point, they will find a way to leave too. And then what?

Re #1 - PRECISELY my first thought. New Yorkers are about 90% total pains in the butt. We actually don't CARE how you "did it" in NY. If NY is so wonderful, why in the hell did you leave? Learn to live like the people in the place you move to and don't bring your aggressive, rude driving and obnoxious, overbearing culture with you. Slow down. Be nice. Relax a bit. And especially don't bring your destructive voting habits.

The traffic and congestion has gotten awful in my section of the Space Coast (E. central) . I'm glad I retired because getting anywhere now takes twice as long as it did a couple of years ago. The Carolinas are MUCH nicer, as is Georgia. Keep Florida red.

There seems to be a significant number of people who have left places like NY, IL and CA, to name a few, that they would now be over-represented in Congress, and the States like FL, TN and TX are under-represented now. It's doubtful many even thought about such a massive shift almost immediately after the annual census, but there should be a mechanism to rectify such a large change, or it should be something the Republicans in Congress discuss very regularly.

I sold a disassemble partially restored antique aircraft in 2019 in Virginia, and the buyer needed a UHaul large box truck to move the fuselage, wings and other parts, two trips. He had one heck of a time finding a UHaul box truck anywhere near central Va. He finally had to drive out to southeastern West Virginia and rent the truck, drive it to my hangar and pick it up. The UHaul folks said that all the people bailing out of NY, NJ and that area had sucked up all the UHaul trucks in several states, even driving down to north and central Virginia to rent trucks. From NYC we are talking well over 300 miles, from southern NJ, around 250 miles. People were desperate. This was during the ChiCom flu attack in late 2019.

“Real Time” host Bill Maher warned the Democrats on his show Friday that if they fail to remember history, they are doomed to repeat it. They’re all thinking that they’ve “finally got him,” when it comes to former President Donald Trump over the prosecution filed by Alvin Bragg about money allegedly paid to Stormy Daniels.Maher pointed out how America didn’t hold the “sex scandal” against Bill Clinton regarding Monica Lewinsky when it came to voting, and that they seemed to ignore his perjury. Clinton got impeached, but then he still had a high approval rating. Warning for graphic language:

Over the past three years, we reporters learned there were certain things that we weren't allowed to say. Not long ago, in fact, my new video may have been censored. One dangerous idea, we were told, was that COVID-19 might have been created in a lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. That seems very possible, since the institute studied coronaviruses in bats, and America's National Institutes of Health gave the lab money to perform "gain-of-function" research, experiments where scientists try to make a virus more virulent or transmissible. A Washington Post writer worried the lab leak theory "could increase racist attacks against Chinese people and further fuel anti-Asian hate."

The news of former President Donald Trump’s indictment by a Manhattan grand jury has been greeted with unabashed glee by Democrats, corporate media outlets, talking heads, and late-night “comedians.” These people clearly have no idea where this kind of politicized prosecution always leads. Once a ruling regime convinces the citizenry to accept the criminalization of political opposition, the inevitable result is a one-party state that systematically eliminates individual rights. That’s what Trump means when he says: “They’re not after me. They’re after you.”

When a mass murderer shot her way into a Nashville school on Monday and killed six people, most Americans reacted with horror. Gun control advocates, however, viewed it as an opportunity. President Joe Biden, for example, saw the crime as a chance to promote an “assault weapon” ban. Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, responded with a call for gun confiscation. The corporate media pitched in with a spate of stories claiming that mass shootings literally occur on a daily basis in the United States.

Homer goes right at it: “Sing Goddess, the Rage of Achilles.” Adapted to our times: “Sing, Bragg, your rage against the Trumpies.” Alvin Bragg, who grew up in a section of Harlem aptly named Striver’s Row, is by most accounts one angry man. Since he was elected New York County’s district attorney in 2021, he has set himself to punishing the city for what he takes to be generations of wrongful prosecution of black offenders — and incidentally most other lawbreakers. His policy writ large has been to treat all felonies as misdemeanors, which are promptly dismissed. He occasionally compromises in favor of prosecution but only if the crime has

The following is adapted from an address that Lord Black gave at Ottawa on March 24, closing the Canada Strong and Free Networking Conference. As a country with a revolutionary tradition, the United States has always considered the right to own and carry firearms as implicit in the success of the American Revolution, and in the right and ability of all Americans to protect their property. This was implicit in the Declaration of Independence, in particular in Thomas Jefferson’s ungenerous references to the Native people. This helped give to American conservatism the character of individualism, of the rugged citizen, practically completely independent

Friday morning, the House of Representatives passed the Parents Bill of Rights Act (H.R.5), a measure that would guarantee parents a meaningful voice in their children’s education. In a sane political environment, this would not have been a controversial bill. Yet it barely squeaked by in a 213–208 vote. Predictably, the Democrats did the bidding of their teachers union paymasters by unanimously opposing the bill. But why did five Republicans vote against it, particularly considering that it was integral to the Commitment to America on which they ran in the recent midterms?
