to Base What They Charge on How Much You Make

The state of California is implementing full Marxism before our very eyes under the guise of “equity.” And so now there can be no possible doubt if there ever was for anyone: instituting Communism has been what “equity” initiatives have been about all along. Now three of its most powerful utility companies are saying that they’re going to charge based not on how much of their product was used, but on how much money the user makes.
In simpler times, if you bought something, you paid for it. Rich or poor, tall or short, black or white, female or male, wise or foolish, everyone paid the same amount for a product.
Wouldn't this be just a bit illegal of them? Anyway, I have to wonder if they are setting it up for Gavin to knock down. You know, to make him look tough and acceptable to the national voters?

People with money pay their bills, people without money, not so much.
The utility company no longer has to worry about low income folks paying their bills.

You don't understand. The wealthy get better electricity than the poor do.
Just like they get better government services than the poor, therefore are taxed more.

Maybe some of the leftist Hollywood types, athletes and coaching staff who project leftist ideology, Silicon Valley lefties and millions of others will understand the lesson that is about to be taught.

Here's a question for the electric providers in Kalifornia, what will you do when all the wealthy people have moved out and only the poor are left? Leftists never seem to think about the consequences of their actions.

From each according to their wealth and lack of powerful connections; to each according to their utility only as voters. It's the Commiecrat Way!

The utility companies are going to go bankrupt with this plan. They aren’t in the business to lose money. They are still capitalists. More and more people are evacuating from California and they aren’t in the lower income group. I just hope they don’t pollute the red States with their leftist ideas. They did vote for this crap.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" (German: Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen) is a slogan popularised by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Programme.

Will that law apply to leftist businesses too, like Apple, Meta, etc.? Or is it only residential? How long before the Mercedes Benz cars are $10,000 for blacks and browns, but $110,000 for everyone else?

California will decay more and more as the middle class will no longer be able to afford basic energy needs and finds a home somewhere else. They'll be nothing left but the political Elite and the very poor and needy. Sounds like Cuba or Mexico.

What happens when the lights go out in the ghetto? The utility company has little incentive to do repairs right away for people who aren't paying hardly anything. Cries of racism will soon ensue.

Unless a utility is owned by the state, it has no legal basis to do this let alone even know how much someone makes or is worth.

Pop Quiz for the woke Kalifornia utilities -
Question: What happens when you start taxing the hell out of the wealthy to the point where they lose interest in building companies, generating wealth, and creating jobs for the commoners?
Answer: The commoners will live in more despair with even less disposable income than they had before.
Think about that for a minute before moving ahead with your lame brain scheme, utilities.

I read sometime that Marx never worked. He was always leeching off of someone - his father or his wife, whomever. So he had lots of time to think up nutty, dead-end ideas that, invariably, ended badly. Such a great state and such great cities are being ruined by these leeches who do not believe in working for a living.

This sounds like an accounting nightmare. How many people will they have to hire to get the information to implement this Commie program? What about businesses? What happens when your income changes? How do they verify incomes? Does welfare count as income? What about social security? Good luck with this one California!

Gee, what could possibly go wrong? But something is missing here as the math does not add up, it’s says the rates would be as low as $15 to $100 (“$85 higher). I doubt there are many Californians with an electric bill under $100 right now. As written this wouldn’t add up to current revenue utilities are getting.

#17, I imagine that they will do it by address - if you live in a wealthy or upper middle class neighborhood, you pay more. If your address is in the ghetto, you pay little to nothing.

To make this work, the State Franchise Tax Department will have to create an income data base, ultimately necessary for presenting ID even when purchasing food at McDonalds and Safeway. Depending on your income a Big Mac may cost $15 or $0.15, the fastest path ti income redistribution.

Interesting concept poster #1...maybe why newsom put the panel in place to discuss reparations ...since California never was a slave state and didn't even fight in the civil war...is it all about getting the black vote? my darling husband always said...follow the money...and the democrats need Washington to write checks...so trying to clean up newsom's image is probably spot on for the rats...

I used to pay ten times my bracket per month before I started producing my own power.
I wonder how they will treat the net producers. What about businesses, apartments, hotels? Whoopeeee, no worries about heating and cooling!
There's got to be a catch. A big Fascist catch. Or really a Communist one.
Either a police state burocracy that enforces what you can use the electricity for. Or else strict rationing. Or both.

#26, the people who receive the $5 million bribe to become happy, content, upright citizens will then be in the same bracket as the hollyweirds and the sports stars and will have to pay more for utilities than the white supremacists, no?

Gruesom-Newsom is 6 fries short of a Happy Meal. At best, he is only about what you could expect from the Land of Fruits and Nuts. And ditto for those twin cadavers on wheels, Feinstein and Pelosi. Makes me wonder why Pelosi did her fade from view Bewitched schtick so early.

Um, how will utility companies know how much someone actually makes? If they ask people could simply lie to get a lower bill. Or, are they planning to invade EVERYONE'S privacy & get copies of people's tax records?
Like NY, they really do want the rich to leave the state don't they?
