Every year, millions of Americans purchase much-needed products online along with the required postage. While most of the sellers are legitimate operations, a not-insignificant share is willing to use counterfeit postage to save a buck on taxpayers’ and consumers’ dime. According to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), “[i]n recent years, the use of counterfeit postage has increased substantially, especially on packages … it has resulted in a significant loss of revenue to the Postal Service.”Under the USPS’ proposed rule change, the Domestic Mail Manual would deem “counterfeit postage” as “undeliverable;” offending mail pieces “will be considered abandoned and disposed of at the discretion of the Postal Service.

Comments:

Counterfeit postage? If they're losing money it's not from Pajama Boy printing stamps in his mom's basement. Almost seems like an obvious FIB ruse to open letters and packages in violation of postal regulations.
There is no problem from counterfeit $1 bills for the same reason there won't be from bogus stamps.

Facebook allows vendors to sell rolls of first class "postage" stamps for $29. They should be charged conspiracy to defraud the USPS.

#1. There is no one in charge in the White House .... the Executive Branch. I am convinced that every bureaucrat in the Executive Branch has been instructed to break any laws they want to ruin the United States. Biden is simply not in control of anything.

As long as they're genuine, any store can sell postage stamps as a convenience. Markets, drug stores, etc. Anyone forging 50 cent stamps should be examined. Been so long since I needed one, I forgot what they look like.

I buy a roll of stamps about every year and the last time it cost me $60. Next time I think it will cost $69. I use stamps to mail my bills that I have written checks for. I wondered how anyone could sell them on Facebook for $29.

The Forever stamps are most frequently counterfeited. It's apparently easy to make fake copies of the earlier designs. Collector's have no interest in Forever stamps so no one looks at them closely.

I spend a lot of time telling telling whoever that the only thing I want to find in my mailbox at the end of my driveway is Christmas Cards. And it ain't Christmas. Everything and anything else is to be sent electronically. emails only. No USPS. Ever.

There is probably a code, a smell, a taste of some sort of arcane science to figuring out a legitimate print-your-own-stamp at home similar to the print function available at stores like Target, etc. A real convenience, for sure. Since the USPS is a multi-level pyramid scheme anyway, of course they'd have a way to figure out this one.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is really making a name for himself on a national level, likely much to his eventual regret. After convincing a grand jury to bring preposterous charges against Donald Trump, Bragg had to find something to keep himself busy until Tuesday, and a New York garage attendant named Moussa Diarra offered him that opportunity. Diarra was working the overnight shift yesterday when he spotted Charles Rhodie rooting around the garage with a bag, apparently attempting to steal some of the tools and equipment in the garage. Diarra confronted Rhodie and demanded to inspect the bag.

Former Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and L.A. City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas has been found guilty on seven of the 19 counts of the indictment lodged against him in October of 2021. This indictment of Ridley-Thomas was years in the making. In 2018, the L.A. Times uncovered that the University of Southern California received a $100,000 donation from a campaign fund controlled by Ridley-Thomas. The Councilman’s son, Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, had previously been hired as a professor of social work and public policy, and was also given a scholarship by USC to attend graduate school. In 2021, Ford’s Model e unit had pretax losses of $900 million. And in 2022, that number was $2.1 billion. Ford reportedly believes Model e will be profitable before taxes by late 2026, with an eight percent pretax profit margin.

Like most big cities, Chicago has a crime problem. The city is not unique in that respect, nor is it unique in residents charging the police with racism, brutality, and the targeting of minorities. But Chicago is afflicted with a deadly combination: a police department that walks on eggshells for fear of being accused of brutality, thus making far fewer arrests, and a local prosecutor who believes it’s more important to impose her idea of “restorative justice” than enforce the law. The city’s police department is under a Department of Justice consent decree that does little to address the real, systemic problems on the Chicago police force but adds reams

Hillsdale College, a revered institution at which I have had the honor to lecture on several occasions, revoked the Tallahassee Classical School’s license to use its curriculum after the Florida institution fired its principal for showing a photo of Michelangelo’s nude statue of David without notifying parents. At least one parent considered the image pornographic. Hillsdale explained, “This drama around teaching Michelangelo’s ‘David” sculpture, one of the most important works of art in existence, has become a distraction from, and a parody of, the actual aims of classical education. Of course, Hillsdale’s K-12 art curriculum includes Michelangelo’s ‘David’ and other works of art that depict the human form.
