The Biden administration will approve new California rules to cut tailpipe pollution and phase out sales of diesel-burning trucks, according to three people briefed on the plans, a move that could jump-start the nation’s transition to electric-powered trucks and help communities harmed by diesel pollution. The Environmental Protection Agency intends to grant California “waivers” to enforce environmental rules that are significantly tougher than federal requirements and that state regulators have already approved, said these individuals, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the announcement was not yet public. The new policies could have a profound effect on the air

LOL. Imagine the recharging equipment needed for 18 wheelers, dump trucks, etc...It will never happen.

This makes so much sense. (Extreme sarcasm) California’s grid can’t handle the current electrical load so they’re going to phase out diesel trucks and mandate electric trucks. Where are they going to get the electricity? You think you have supply issues now? Just wait.

Once again where under our Constitution does the Federal Government have the right to tell us what kind of vehicle we can buy, drive or how it is manufactured? Shouldn't at least Congress be voting on these regulations? This power should be resting with each individual state. This is pure communist dictatorship and nothing more. The EPA is also one of these Agencies whose usefulness has long expired and should be abolished and all employees banned from ever working for the Federal Government ever again.

Not necessarily a bad thing in a way because it means that shipments will start going to ports where they will be able to move the goods across land quickly, and those ports are in pretty solidly red states like Texas, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama.

At some point California will go dark when critical resources disappear, and the lights won't work. Most likely, California will have to back off their rules, but never underestimate the power of stupidity and greed. Some people WILL become rick off this.

At one time, Kalifornia might have lead/determined the direction the country was going, but now, it only leads in the people leaving for greener pastures category! No electricity, no water and really high taxes is not a good thing.

Electric golf carts make sense; electric cars make less sense (IMHO, no sense); electric tractor trailers will be the world's most massive white elephants, if any ever get built. What idiots are making these decisions? California, in many ways our most wondrous state, is dying from inept one party (Democrat) political leadership.

So, nuclear is out, hydro is out, diesel is out, gasoline is out. So, we will have lots of wagons at the ports to transport goods. But wait! Horses pass methane, so the wagons will be pulled by teams of Unicorns, who only exude fairy dust. FTA: "“Goods movement is a huge part of our economy here … ", and we are going to destroy that, along with anything else that makes sense.

Republicans have stalled President Biden's nominee to run the Federal Aviation Administration on the grounds he lacks the necessary experience. The vote to confirm Denver International Airport CEO Phillip Washington to the position has been indefinitely delayed, Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell announced Wednesday. "We are moving that to a future date, pending information that members have been seeking," Cantwell said. Cantwell did not elaborate on the information requested or which senators made the request. Biden announced his selection of Washington to head the FAA in July 2022 but the process has languished in the Senate amid concerns from Republicans

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, the chamber's No. 2 Democrat, said on Sunday that he will quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19, adding to a number of lawmakers from both parties who have been absent from the Senate. "Thankfully, I am fully vaccinated and boosted and only experiencing minor symptoms," Durbin said in a tweet. The Illinois Democrat said he would follow Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, which call for five days of quarantine for those who test positive. Two other Democrats, Senators Dianne Feinstein and John Fetterman, have been absent from the Senate for health reasons. Senate

WASHINGTON — President Biden told a series of cringe-worthy jokes about his Irish ancestry to mark St. Patrick’s Day, cracking that he’s surprised his distant Irish relatives aren’t “in jail” and that he’s “really not Irish” because he doesn’t drink alcohol. The 80-year-old president, who is roughly five-eighths Irish, made the seemingly stereotype-laden attempts at humor as House Republicans investigate his family’s international business deals amid a federal criminal investigation of first son Hunter Biden. “I’ve been to Ireland many times, but not to actually look up, to find my actual family members. Bay Area regulators voted Wednesday to adopt rules to phase out the sale and installation of natural-gas furnaces and water heaters over the next eight years, one of the most ambitious plans in the country to replace gas appliances with electric alternatives. The rules, approved by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, are meant to reduce air pollution from some of the worst home-appliance offenders.
