President Joe Biden, the first Catholic Commander in Chief in some six decades who proclaims himself to be a "devout" follower of the church's teachings, won't be attending the funeral of Pope Benedict XVI following his passing last week.
If it seems strange that such a close follower of the Catholic Church would not attend the final goodbye to the previous Holy Father — not to mention passing on a chance to get out of D.C. for a few days as he seemingly does whenever possible — it's because it wasn't Biden's choice. At least not completely.

A group of 20 Republicans voted for Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) on the second day of voting for House speaker, denying House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) the gavel in the fourth ballot.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) nominated Donalds when the House came back in session at noon Wednesday.
“For the first time in history, there have been two black Americans placed into the nomination for speaker,” Roy said to a round of applause. He was also referring to the Democratic nominee, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

The US House voted for Speaker for the 6th time Wednesday afternoon.
GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) suffered another humiliating loss for the sixth time. Kevin McCarthy has now lost votes since Tuesday and since President Trump’s endorsement. On Wednesday, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX 2nd District) joined Guy Benshow Show. During the interview, Crenshaw referred to the 20 Republicans challenging the establishment as “terrorists.”
“We cannot let the terrorists win,” Crenshaw said.

Representative Dan Crenshaw (R., Texas) on Wednesday slammed the 20 House Republicans who have opposed House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy’s bid for the speakership.
“I’m tired of your stupid platitudes that some consultant told you to say on the campaign trail, alright. Behind closed doors tell us what you actually want, or shut the f*** up,” he said of the holdouts, according to the Washington Post’s Dylan Wells.//snip//“They need to be men and adults and say what they want, instead of playing these little games, that’s what we’re asking. That’s what I’ve asked them. Some of them are my friends. Stop saying platitudes like, ‘Washington is broken. We can’t do the

Rep. Lauren Boebert said her 'favorite president' Donald Trump should call GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and tell him 'it's time to withdraw' after the House failed to make the California Republican its Speaker after four rounds of voting.
The Colorado Republican noted that Trump had been calling McCarthy's opposition and telling them to change their vote.
'I think it actually needs to be reversed. The president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that, sir, you do not have the votes and it's time to withdraw,' she said at the start of the fifth vote.

Dr. Yusuf Saleeby has practiced medicine for more than 30 years. He serves patients in South Carolina and until recently had never faced an investigation from his state medical board.
But after Saleeby started prescribing ivermectin to his patients, he was reported to the board, which opened an investigation, despite the state’s attorney general’s promise that his office wouldn’t prosecute doctors who prescribed off-label medications.
Jennifer Wright, a nurse practitioner and clinical director who practices in Florida, but can prescribe across state lines, told The Epoch Times she received a letter from the Office of the Attorney General of New York ordering her not to prescribe ivermectin.

Karl Rove, former Bush White House aide and Fox News contributor, broke down why he believes the voting for the House speaker is unlikely to stop anytime soon, calling the GOP’s failure to elect Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) an “utter, unmitigated disaster.”
“With us, former White House deputy chief of staff to Fox News contributor. Karl, I suppose you have to be wondering what sort of horse-trading was done in between the votes here?” began Fox News anchor Sandra Smith.

Barbara Walters died last week at 93, but the legendary journalist’s legacy lives on: “The View,” the daytime-TV talker she created in 1997, is the most-watched — and most-talked-about — show in its genre.
Some legacy, though: What Walters envisioned as “women of different generations, backgrounds and views” discussing “the topics of the day, mixing humor with intelligent debate,” devolved after she departed as co-host in 2014 into a four-against-one daily catfight with few laughs and even fewer smarts.
The New York Times calls it “the most important political TV show in America.” If so, America is in trouble — because “The View” is the biggest source of misinformation in the country.

Prince Harry claims in his forthcoming memoir that his older brother Prince William physically attacked him once in 2019 while the two were arguing over their relationship and his marriage to Meghan Markle, according a report.
In his memoir "Spare," hitting bookshelves on Tuesday, Harry wrote that the Prince of Wales allegedly called Meghan Markle "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive" after the two brothers met at Harry’s then-home Nottingham Cottage, according to the Guardian, which obtained an excerpt of the book.

The lesion was discovered by Dr. Kevin O'Connor, Physician to the President, during a 'routine skin cancer screening.'
Vanessa Valdivia, the First Lady's Press Secretary, confirmed the news that Biden, 71, would undergo the removal, the second time she's gone under the knife as first lady after having a puncture wound cleaned out in July of last year.
The procedure, known as 'Mohs surgery,' will take place on January 11, according to O'Connor.

Conservative writer and author David French is joining The New York Times as a columnist, the newspaper announced on Tuesday.
French, who has emerged as a leading critic among conservatives of former President Trump in recent years, helped launch the anti-Trump conservative website “The Dispatch” before spending several years as a writer at The National Review. The Times, in a note announcing French’s hire, described him as “forthright in his views, yet open to counterargument; sincere in his ideological commitments, yet willing to call out those who normally share his beliefs when he believes they’ve wandered astray.”
French begins at the Times later this month.
