Rep. Lauren Boebert said her 'favorite president' Donald Trump should call GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and tell him 'it's time to withdraw' after the House failed to make the California Republican its Speaker after four rounds of voting.
The Colorado Republican noted that Trump had been calling McCarthy's opposition and telling them to change their vote.
'I think it actually needs to be reversed. The president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that, sir, you do not have the votes and it's time to withdraw,' she said at the start of the fifth vote.

Who's responsible to calling for a vote? It seems somewhat silly to call for votes until the situation is thought to be significantly changed.

Does anyone think Donalds can get the 218 votes needed? We're going to end up with a handful of Democrats supporting McCarthy in exchange for committee chairs and other perks.

First, PDT has endorsed McCarthy. Second, it comes down to the lesser of two evils: McCarthy or Jeffries.

Keep the vote alive. It appears to be the last real, untainted voting taking place in the United States of America.

The Brave 20 are being portraits as saboteurs traitors and unicameral because they won’t bow down to the deep State. They are heroes and need to be praised and supported. I saw a guy ion Fox Screws comparing them to Liz Cheney in their career paths and how they are the new RINOS. Hahahaha!!!!

The House clerk (a Democrat) is in charge until a Speaker is elected. She's following 100 y. o. House rules that state when the official tally is announced, if another vote is necessary, it must proceed immediately.

The fact that McCarthy will not negotiate with members of his own party indicates that the man is either not very intelligent or that he has already sold out to the Democrats. Either way, he is not fit for the job.

Kev, it is time to throw in the towel, bud. You had your chance to lead the House behind Nanie but you couldn't and didn't.

I have been that one who bucked the majority. I stayed seated when the pastor search committee asked all those in favor stand up. I was right, by the way.

How can he withdraw now?
I've seen it reported that he's already helped himself to moving into the Speaker's office two (?) days ago!

The Republicans are going to mess around and we will be left with a weakened Speaker and Dems chairing committees. Split leadership, if you will. Like Trump said... take the win and get down to business. This is another example of the Republicans inability to lead. Good Lord we are in trouble!!!

way to go ! Kust like when Benjamin Franklin stood in the cockpit of parliament and was verbally scourged by all “esteemed “ (spit ) members for not letting the Brits continue their depredations upon this fledgling nation .. He took it all ..and showed the face of a new nation . rock on .

I don't care about "looks" or "appearances". I don't want another fake conservative "leading" the Republicans in the House. "Oh, Nos! We'll get Hakeem as Speaker...!!" Really? What's the difference if Kevin is going to line up with the Dims anyway? We won the House - let's act like it and get someone that represents conservatives instead of the go-along-to-get-along RINO.
Otherwise, what's the point of voting and winning if we give it away?

Now wait a minute. Back when we conservatives were complaining about rinos like McCain and Romney, posters on this site belittled us and said were were voting for the democrat if we didnt vote for their republican. They said to help win the election and then change the party from the inside.
Well, thats whats happening right now. So dont hand me any more of your uniparty carp. For the first time in decades the system may be working.

McCarthy should admit that he is looking like a Harold Stassen (multiple election loser) and withdraw from Speaker consideration. Trump and Jordan can't save him. I hope the eventual winner is not a RINO like Boehner or Ryan, and unlike Boehner, someone who will not sob openly over minor, inconsequential things.

Lauren the one who is not winning in the democratic process is you. You do not seem to have a candidate most Republicans prefer to McCarthy. You want McCarthy to go away just to save the Freedom Caucus blushes? Then what? A RINO faction objects to the next guy? This has no end and it does not seem you really have a plan. Meantime the time available for investigating the Biden administration is trickling away.

Sorry most republicans don't prefer McCarthy. He was Ryan's no.2 and was ok with Ryan screwing everyone including the president. He needs to step aside. He lost 5 rounds. Enough !!!!!!!!!

I'm sure that President Trump will, now that Lauren Boebert, who barely survived the midterm election, has given him his orders, rush to the phone to give McCarthy the word to withdraw. I would take Gaetz, Boebert, Roy and the rest more seriously if they had a candidate in mind that could possibly win the 218 votes. They don't have that candidate and they never will. We voted for Republicans to get down to business right away. The majority of the voters are not interested, let alone amused as I am, at the foolishness running rampant in the House chamber.

The wimpy Republicans will probably stumble into getting Hakeem Jefferies, a Democrat socialist from New York City elected as the coalition Speaker! All the problems relative to the Republicans electing a new Speaker should have been hashed out long before January 3 when the election for the new Speaker was due to be held. Now you know why the Republican Party has been known as the Stupid Party for so long!

I wish Jim Jordan will step up to the plate and accept that we really, really need him. If he will not, then President Trump had better step in and become Speaker. Those who are ruining America (Libs, Socialists, Commies, China-influenced, Ozero's Muzzies) must be stopped for the sake of our children!

someone has to rattle RINO McCarthy's cage and tell him that the election is all about saving our country and rejuvenating the Republican Party into the MAGA party this is not a selection process like the one that saw Bob Dole anointed as presidential nominee just because he was "the one" and he proved he was inadequate for the job as the campaign ran its course
- advice toe McCarthy: bow out now with dignity because you're not going to get the job
