Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell chimed in late Friday evening to congratulate now-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy weathered days of opposition, eventually offering enough concessions to secure the votes needed to break the logjam. Most of the conservatives involved seemed to walk away happy, garnering key positions on committees and rule changes that should bring the House back to some level of sanity. For his part, McConnell decided to drop the following message, and I’m officially dead. I cease to be alive.(Tweet) I’m not sure there’s anything conservatives despise more than being gaslit by their own leadership, and this is gaslighting of the highest order.

A New Jersey middle school teacher is facing charges after he overdosed on fentanyl in front of a classroom of students.
Frank Thompson, 57, an art teacher at Roosevelt Intermediate School, was found unconscious and unresponsive by a school resource in a second-floor classroom after 9:00 a.m. on November 29, according to the Westfield Police Department.
Before the officer arrived, students noticed Thompson was in distress, and a school nurse was treating him.
The officer noticed signs that Thompson was experiencing a drug overdose and administered naloxone hydrochloride, also known as Narcan, which he carries on him. The teacher then started showing signs of improvement.

On Sunday's Meet the Press, moderator, and Democrat activist Chuck Todd whined to House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer that the necessary oversight that Comer and his committee will be conducting will look "more partisan than professional." Comer proceeded to take Todd to school about how that is far from the case.

An 82-year-old Navy veteran working at a Maryland Walmart has retired thanks to an interaction with a customer that went viral on social media.
Butch Marion officially retired from his job on Wednesday weeks after a Walmart customer walked into the store and filmed the 82-year-old veteran ringing up items in the checkout line and posted the video on TikTok, which raised over $100,000 for Marion, WTTG-TV reported.
That customer, bug extermination business owner Rory McCarty, had seen a previous TikTok video where a woman went into a Walmart and filmed an elderly employee bagging groceries and raised money for that employee by posting the video online.
