‘The View’ is the biggest source of
misinformation in America

Original Article

Barbara Walters died last week at 93, but the legendary journalist’s legacy lives on: “The View,” the daytime-TV talker she created in 1997, is the most-watched — and most-talked-about — show in its genre. Some legacy, though: What Walters envisioned as “women of different generations, backgrounds and views” discussing “the topics of the day, mixing humor with intelligent debate,” devolved after she departed as co-host in 2014 into a four-against-one daily catfight with few laughs and even fewer smarts. The New York Times calls it “the most important political TV show in America.” If so, America is in trouble — because “The View” is the biggest source of misinformation in the country.

FTA, Ms Goldberg quote to The Times of London, on her, “white people doing it to white people,” perspective on the Holocaust, “You would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked.” To the London TIMES? Can you imagine what the space must be like in THAT brain? And the external package in comes in? I’d be embarrassed for her personally if I thought self-examination was even on her radar but since it’s not I’m just embarrassed for the country; albeit I don’t know why I should be since being an, “American,” is nothing Ms Goldberg would admit to or be proud of. Evidently the privilege of money and fame— but we know it already— does not universally actuate gratitude, humility, and in this case certainly not penetration or wisdom. Appalling.

When my mother was ill, I took her to all her doctor's appointments. It seemed to me that no matter when or where, The View was on in the waiting room. I grew to hate it! About a year ago, I had to go to get my tires rotated. The View was on. I sat in a hallway rather than the waiting room. I loathe that show with a loathing that can't be put into words.

I credit the view for getting me to the gym earlier than I had. My favorite elliptical faces a huge monitor on which, at 10:00am, comes The View. While there is no sound the subtitles display the hate and stupidity of these harpies very accurately. After a couple of days I now show up 1/2 early to avoid the pain. My gym also has screens set to Fox News so it does provide alternatives but too far away from my machine.

I know someone who watches The View. A good person. However, their fealty to shows like The View, Good Morning America, ABC (or NBC, CBS) National News, much less the local broadcast news and newspaper, makes discussing ANYTHING political, medical, or scientific with this person pretty much off limits. IMO, this (along with our educational system being sabotaged for decades, think American History) is exactly one of the biggest reasons why this country is in dire straits, many people refuse to see they're being lied to and refuse to even attempt alternate news coverage. One day, at least I'm hoping, something will jar this individual into the real world. Unfortunately, I'm not optimistic.

President Joe Biden has finally decided to address the unprecedented crisis at the border, unveiling on Thursday a plan that would, effective immediately, turn away Cubans, Haitians, and Nicaraguan migrants who attempt to illegally cross into the States from Mexico, only to welcome from the very same three nations — plus Venezuela — 30,000 legal immigrants per month. It’s a move that attempts to prepare for the end of the Trump-era Title 42 regulation that was put in place to limit the number of migrants who could enter the country during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it appears to be pleasing very few from either side of the political aisle.
