U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland honored the five Capitol Police officers on Thursday who, he said, died after defending the legislature from the January 6 riot in 2021 — though none were killed during the violence.
In a statement on the second anniversary of the Capitol riot, Garland appeared to link the riot to the deaths:
“Two years ago, the United States Capitol was attacked as lawmakers met to affirm the results of a presidential election. Perpetrators attacked police officers, targeted and assaulted members of the media, and interfered with a fundamental element of our democracy:

FTA: “…the Justice Department have participated in one of the largest, most complex, and most resource-intensive investigations in our history.” The key omission in that quote by Herr Garland is that it was the most one sided investigation in our history wherein the outcome was decided even before it was gaveled to order.
How this travesty of Justice has been allowed to go forward and call it justice is criminal. You do not have an investigation without allowing a defense. This is, in no way, equal justice under the law. The people and agencies involved in this Star Chamber should face the harshest penalties possible for trampling our founding judicial principles. They have betrayed their oaths of office and the Constitution because the truth would condemn them. They have set justice on its ear.

I like to think of the positives. This vicious lying fool didn't get to the USSC and his destructive time as AG is limited, not life long.

Traitor, plain & simple. And this is a great mind? If we don’t learn the difference between a blood and a vote, we’ll have more like him ruining justice.

#10 "We" didn't keep him off the Supremes. Turtle Mitch did and he should get credit for that action. He took a lot of flack from the Dims, but held his ground.

We're all extremely thankful that Garland didn't make it to the SC, and Mitch was instrumental in that maneuver. But I have no praise for him because that's what he was supposed to do as our leader/representative in his highly-powerful position. It's his JOB! He does not deserve to be elevated to sainthood for keeping Garland off. He sold out on hundreds of other important issues, to the great detriment of our side.
I've always wondered why he stood so firmly against Garland. There had to be something in it for him. I hardly think it was done out of "principle".

Hey, Garland. Next time you use that story, you can say that Ashili Babbitt was the person who killed all those five cops on January 6th. And that heroic Capitol Hill cop, Leroy Byrd, saved the country by killing her during that death spree.

Pure, raw lying fraud. The ONLY deaths on that day related to events at the Capitol were the Capitol Gestapo murdering two unarmed women.

On May 24, 1775, John Hancock was elected to preside over the Second Continental Congress. Under his leadership and strong influence, one month later the body selected George Washington to assemble and command an Army and Navy. Imagine the loss of credibility and prestige these two men would have lost if the members had voted ballot after ballot, with holdouts saying they could never trust or vote for either of them. In a dangerous world, the failure to act promptly can be tragic. If, say, a bomb went off at the White House during this period without a speaker, and Biden and Harris were unable to continue in office, who would immediately be sworn in as president? The answer is the 4th in line of succession., Chuck Schumer. Those Republican members who are comfortable with "delaying as long as it takes" should think about that one.
