Representative Dan Crenshaw (R., Texas) on Wednesday slammed the 20 House Republicans who have opposed House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy’s bid for the speakership. “I’m tired of your stupid platitudes that some consultant told you to say on the campaign trail, alright. Behind closed doors tell us what you actually want, or shut the f*** up,” he said of the holdouts, according to the Washington Post’s Dylan Wells.//snip//“They need to be men and adults and say what they want, instead of playing these little games, that’s what we’re asking. Which House leader has ever enjoyed universal member support? NOT ONE. Grow up you holdouts. There is work to be done. I am fed up with minority opinions that seek control far in excess of their numbers. I would bet that Pelosi would have paid good money to rid herself of the pestilent Squad.

I’m sure there’s a reason for his refusal to acquiesce to bring a balanced budget amendment to a vote. I suppose a “no inflationary” fiscal policy is a no go. I remember a wise OG telling me (in the 1980s i think) that the last surplus was under Nixon in 1968 or 1969 and it was quickly followed by a recession. But don’t quote me.

Several years ago, Crenshaw gave a fine, conservative speech on TV so I sent a contribution to his campaign. Since then, he has mightily disappointed by appearing to side with the anti-Trumpers, so my contributions stopped. We do not want the same old 'tax and spend' but we do want the greatest president ever, TRUMP, reinstated into his truly-won position. We do not trust elections, most politicians, or the Covid farce. Please, please, again put America first. You were a warrior for our country... join with those demanding a Speaker who is on the side of the people... not a finger in the wind guy.

This is a very poor article Crenshaw made his remarks near the end of a press conference today in which a number of Republican congressmen who are also military veterans - most of them combat veterans with many years of service - called out the 20 holdouts for not putting the country first. For being 10% of the Republicans holding 90% hostage and not cooperating by working to resolve their complaints about McCarthy. I believe some of the 20 rebels went into a meeting wth McCarthy during the early arfternoon break. They resume voting at 8PMET.

Does “disinformation” on the Internet actually do anything — even to persuade? When the freak-out over Russia-generated Facebook and Twitter memes began in late 2016, I repeatedly asked one basic question: where is the evidence that these campaigns changed even one single vote? The answer: No such evidence exists. The memes of Hillary Clinton fighting Jesus turned out not to be game-changers after all, a new study reported by the Washington Post concludes. Voters made up their own minds independent of such trollery, as anyone with two functioning brain cells should have realized before and since: Russian influence operations on Twitter in the 2016 presidential election reached relatively few users, most

As I’ve said in the past, I’ve never been a fan of the silliness of labeling political opponents. This is not to be confused with humorous “nicknames” — the most clever of which I enjoy, and have coined a few — but rather attempting to paint an adversary into a particular corner defined by you. Third-party “you,” that is. And of course, the most popular label by far among certain factions of the Republican Party is “RINO.” The definition of “RINO” — Republican in Name Only — not only used to be easy to understand; it was easy to identify Republicans who fit the RINO mold. In the 1990s,

Former President Donald Trump's Facebook ban may finally be lifted after two years. CBS News reported Friday that Meta is considering allowing Trump to return to the platform. He was originally suspended after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol Hill Riot. Trump stated on his platform Truth Social a day before the CBS News report that "[m]aybe [Meta’s] first step should be to get away from the ridiculous change in name to Meta, and go back to 'Facebook.’”

President Joe Biden tweeted an image of his first-ever border visit Sunday that featured part of the “wall,” or border fence, in El Paso, Texas — after he and his party shut down President Donald Trump’s border wall. Biden ran in 2020 on a promise to build “not another foot” of Trump’s border project after Democrats refused to fund it in 2019 and claimed that it was motivated by racism and the desire to keep brown or black people out. As soon as he took office, Biden halted construction of the high bollard fencing that Trump had been building along the wall — though the Biden administration later quietly

On the prior ballot, though, Rogers, who is set to chair the Armed Services Committee, was apparently angered by Gaetz voting present and chose to lash out. During the Trump administration, a ban on bump stocks was passed in the wake of the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas. That law has been the target of multiple challenges, almost all from gun rights groups. On Friday, a federal appeals court in Louisiana struck down the law, finding that under the plain language of the Gun Control Act and National Firearms Act, a bump stock “is excluded from the technical definition of ‘machinegun’ as defined” in those statutes. The BATFE and the Biden administration disagree and are fighting to keep the ban in place. This ruling does not mean that the ban is now lifted.

The majestic structures of ancient Rome have survived for millennia — a testament to the ingenuity of Roman engineers, who perfected the use of concrete. But how did their construction materials help keep colossal buildings like the Pantheon (which has the world's largest unreinforced dome) and the Colosseum standing for more than 2,000 years? Roman concrete, in many cases, has proven to be longer-lasting than its modern equivalent, which can deteriorate within decades. Now, scientists behind a new study say they have uncovered the mystery ingredient that allowed the Romans to make their construction material so durable and build elaborate structures in challenging places such as docks, sewers and earthquake zones.
