After two months of unyielding negotiations, both parties gave up early Friday on reaching a grand accord to reform and fund the Department of Homeland Security.
Instead, Senate Republicans accepted what Democrats have been offering for weeks — cash for all of DHS except for ICE and part of Customs and Border Protection. The Senate approved the funding package by a voice vote and is now expected to begin a scheduled two-week recess. The House could vote as soon as Friday, before the shutdown would break the record Saturday night for the longest funding lapse of any federal agency in U.S. history.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune called the outcome “unfortunate” Friday.

The Pubbies are Fools, letting the 'Rats isolate and eliminate what they don't want.
The 'Rats, having gotten what they want THIS time, will do the same thing Next time.
Their immediate objective is opening the border and stopping deportation of the Illegals, and they see the Illegals as their new voter base.
When the 'Rats regain a majority -maybe not this time, but somewhere down the road- they will return to their tried-and-true 'Cromnibus Bill' tactic, where they cram EVRYTHING into an 18,000-page bill and Jam it Through before any of the Pubbies have figured out all the Evil that is hidden deep in it's pages.

Republi-Can'ts are useless!!!!!!
Nobody in Congress should be going anywhere until the Save America Act is passed and signed by President Trump. I know the House already passed it, but they should still stay in support of the Senate getting it passed!!!!!
Why do we keep getting our hopes up only to have them dashed by spineless RINO Republi-Can'ts?!?!?!?!?!?

ICE has already been funded through 2029, so the Rats caused all this pain and chaos for exactly what? And the first 6 posters here before me are all rending their garments and donning sackcloth and ashes and wallowing in defeat when in fact it's the Rats who got suckered. If the GOP is smart (which is highly doubtful), they'll use this as a cudgel against the Rats in the fall elections.

This is a national emergency. Fund necessary agencies by executive order and let congress vacation for the next two years, Both sides are useless.

Please have some sympathy for our Congresspeople. After all, it is Spring Break and they need to get to the beach.

The Senate finally did what it should have done by September 30, 2025. The Democrats grandstanding against ICE did nothing to change the outcome. But Democrats willingly and gleefully put government employees and citizens through two needless shutdowns in a show of their minority party power. Their goal was to make Trump look bad the economy decline in an effort to regain control of Congress. If it weren't for the optics of a two week vacation, Democrats would not have ended the shutdown.

the tone of the article is highly misleading. DHS and Border Patrol are already fully funded, and the Democrats didn't get the concessions they wanted to place restrictions on ICE activities. But this is from the moonbats at Politico, so take it with a grain of salt.

The Senate had to pass something. The 2 week recess is prioritized over all, including giving up on the Save America Act. Enjoy your vacation Senators. I wonder how many working Americans will be getting a 2 week vacation for spring?

#5, what you expect, Thune has spent years together with Barraso behind China Mitch looking at his rear end.
