I should call today's newsletter Sophie's Choice. She (snip) likened our situation with NATO to that of the Little Red Hen. (snip) when it came time to eat the bread, each one volunteered to help. The Little Red Hen told them "No. You did not help (snip.) I will eat the bread myself." The other animals shrugged their shoulders, went to the store, took out their EBT cards, and ate lobster and steak. (snip) Which brings up America's Little Orange Rooster. (snip) Each nay-saying nation wants and needs that oil from the strait of Hormuz (snip.) the rest of the NATO countries believe they still have EBT cards.

Comments:

Is anyone surprised that Estonia has been more forthcoming in offering assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz open than Britain, France or Germany? As Buzz Patterson observes, "The U.S. doesn't get oil from Iran, the rest of the world does. If they want oil, they'll help. If not, oh well."

I can hardly blame countries hesitating to involve themselves in a war in which their knowledge and input were lacking. Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan were expensive, bloody failures. The UK, France and many other European nations “came to our aid” then and got nothing positive out of it. In addition their countries were flooded with refugees. I think Trump can reverse our sad record of failure but until then I cast no blame on those who remember history all too well.

Roughly 200,000 immigrant truck drivers in the United States are set to lose their commercial driver's licenses (CDLs) this week under a new Trump administration rule that went into effect Monday to keep illegal immigrants off the road. Under the rule, non-citizens, including asylum seekers, refugees, and recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), will no longer be eligible to obtain CDLs, even if they are legally authorized to work in the United States. Those who already hold licenses will not be able to renew them when they expire.

A Minnesota state senator recently took to social media to voice her concerns with her party's caucus and convention process, alleging "deeply troubling incidents" that "undermine the rules of the process." A newly released document from Sen. Analysts inside the U.S. intelligence community sought to conceal evidence of Chinese influence efforts from President Donald Trump during the 2020 election, with analysts saying they didn't want their intel used by "that vulgarian in the Oval Office" to pursue policies toward China they personally disagreed with. The revelation is found within a January 2021 report written by (snip) analytic ombudsman Barry Zulauf, who conducted a review of the spy community's handling of Russian versus Chinese meddling efforts during the 2020 election. Silicon Valley was energized by legal immigrants from all over the world who founded ebay, Google, Nvidia, Space, Stripe, Sun Microsystems, Tesla, Yahoo, and a host of others. The Greek American Elia Kazan's 1963 film "America, America" is a fictional account based on the Herculean struggle of the director's uncle to immigrate to the United States from an impoverished and hostile Anatolia. The film summed up Americans' traditional view of immigrants: They had risked everything for the chance to reach America, and, once there, became hyperpatriotic in their gratitude for the magnanimity of their new hosts.

Today’s parents and the kids themselves are skeptical college is worth the cost, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows. The national online poll, taken Feb. 24 to Feb. 27, asked 1,456 adults: “Do you believe a four-year college degree is worth the cost for most Americans today, or not?” The answer indicates serious erosion in how Americans view the value of higher education. Overall, of those responding, 59% selected “Not worth the cost,” while just

Given Iran’s half century of cruel barbarism in the Middle East, it’s hard to understand why the Democrats seem to be rooting for them in the current war. I have two theories. One is the obvious one. The Dems are not so much rooting for Iran, as rooting against Iran’s enemy. Bad as Iran is, its enemy is even worse in the eyes of the Dems. Iran’s enemy, you see – or at least the Dems see – has a history of its own cruel barbarism going back to at least 1619. Iran’s enemy has engaged in genocide against native people. Iran’s enemy has wrongly oppressed workers of the world

A group of Florida county sheriffs on a state advisory council are calling on President Trump to ease up on his immigration policy and to create a “path to citizenship” for illegal migrants who are holding down jobs and who are not otherwise engaging in criminal activity. Despite that the sheriffs have been elected by Republicans and appointed to the State Immigration Enforcement Council by Republican Gov. Ron De Santis and Republicans, the council members are collaborating on a letter to President Trump calling for a more liberal focus on immigration policy. The call to leniency has already spurred one state official to speak out against the council.
