Diversity is our strength.’ One hears this, or myriad variants of the same idea, unrelentingly. Certainly I work in an Australian university where the extent of higher-ups pushing this notion does indeed qualify as unrelenting, even matching totalitarian state levels of propaganda. But even outside the hallowed halls of impartial, politically balanced academia (did I write that with a straight face?) the mantra or cliché that diversity somehow delivers a stronger balance sheet or a more cohesive society or just better outcomes is pervasive in today’s democracies that have committed themselves to multiculturalism and to the various neo-Marxist versions of feminism. Sure,

Diversity is a great thing.....as far as choices of restaurants is concerned. Beyond that, diversity is an albatross.

Those who argue for diversity ignore the fact that different cultures have different values and different goals, and they often are at odds with other cultures' values and goals.
I lived through the heyday of corporate AA - it was all about filling quotas and not about finding the best person for the job.

Diversity is good when it happens naturally and organically. It isn't good when it's forced.

The company I worked for had both a Diversity team and a Corporate Compliance team. I once mentioned in a meeting that there would be an explosion if both groups were ever in the same room. I might as well have been talking to my dog.

Diversity, as it is practiced, is like having a basketball team with one basketball player, a lacrosse player, a baseball player, a tennis player, and a cyclist.
You know, if you want to play basketball Stupid... .

In a word, nothing. Diversity brings those on the bottom up to the middle, where they fail and flounder because they do not belong there and never will. Darwin had it right the first time.

What we're not allowed to notice, much less mention, is that in general the elements of diversity do nothing to improve what we started with. It's like having a thick juicy steak, complete with fat, gristle, bone chips, and mysterious spots. And if you're not happy with that, well, you just don't like steak.

If, as we are constantly lectured,
there is no difference between black and white,
no distinction between male and female,
what is diversity?
Short answer?
The ideological provision of unearned benefit...

There is research that shows the more homogenous a population is, the stronger it is, no matter what race or ethnicity.

DEI is acceptable under three conditions. None of which are likely to be followed. Diversity must not penalize merit. Equity must not violate equality. And inclusiveness must not exclude anyone. If any or all of these re observed the core political purpose of DEI will be negated.

Screw diversity. We must have MERIT. If that results in some diversity, OK fine. If not, equally fine. Diversity is irrelevant.
MERIT is what is important.
