Since Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) first arrived in Congress five years ago, she has been portrayed by the Washington press corps as a comic figure. They routinely mocked her for questioning mask mandates and accused her of spreading QAnon conspiracy theories. During recent weeks, after her falling out with President Trump over the fabled Epstein files, the oracles of the corporate “news” media have had an epiphany concerning Greene’s importance to the GOP. Following her announcement last Friday evening that she will resign from the House of Representatives effective January 5, they discovered she is an important political figure .

This article has some truth to it. MTG is a very strong woman. I don't agree with her all the time, but we need stronger people like her in the House and Senate. We have weak people in the GOP like Mike Johnson. You can also throw in Jim Jordan, all Jim does is pound the desk and yells but NOTHING comes of it. I'm very disappointed in the GOP that I have been debating changing my party to Independent. The GOP has become an embarrassment in both the House and Senate. Then you have Crazy Crockett on the Democrat side that she needs to be put in her place with her off the wall lies. I have not heard one Republican Senator challenge those off the wall democrat Senators telling the Millitary to disobey "ILLEGAL" orders. Where are the Republican Senators asking them WHAT illegal orders. All I hear are crickets. We are also getting sick and tired of the backroom deals that both the House and Senate does to protect those that are elected to office when they break the law. Yes, I'm sick of politics.

It is easy to know exactly what the "politicians" are fighting for. MTG entered her political career being worth $700,000. She is leaving with a nice bank account of $27 million. It's the money stupid. First and foremost money in their pockets. Politics is just a side event for them as a means to their wealth. Why else would people fight so hard to win a seat that pays $174,000? To help America in general? I don't think so. Pelosi is the queen of illegal stock trading but a lot of people have gained a lot of money who are being overlooked.

As is the case with Trump, you can like the personality or be irked by it. But she is right about the fact that withholding the information that our government got from the Epstein raids is protecting deep state players. It is total BS that they want to protect innocent people. Epstein was the blackmailer, and now those holding those videos and pictures are the blackmailers.

MTG has the occasional spark of intelligence but her love of theater overpowers it. She may resign but like many of the other species of toe fungus that have left official government, she will keep coming back.

I've pointed this out before, but it's worth repeating: The Democrats are the murderers of the U.S., while the Republicans gleefully open all the door for the murderers and then stand their watching as they loudly protest against it. The majority of Republicans are just as keen for the one-world order (and the demise of America) as the Dims are, but the Republicans can't say it out loud. Meanwhile, they work behind our backs to destroy the country.

I’m less irritated that MTG’s date of resignation was made so she can get the pension than that her departure diminishes the GOP’s thin majority by one. The voters who put her in office a year ago expected her to fill out her term. She has betrayed them.

Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews appeared on CNN News Central on Tuesday afternoon to hawk his latest book worshiping the Kennedys, but the appearance turned into an embarrassing outing as two of his broad proclamations about contemporary politics turned out to be wildly false. Between claiming the Senate was going to stymie the release of the Epstein files and suggesting the Washington Post never criticized the Saudi crown price visiting the White House, Matthews’ assertions were blown up in his face by CNN journalists.

In the end, it turns out that radical transparency for a sex-trafficking ring doesn't actually look all that controversial. Only one member of the House of Representatives voted against a bill forcing the release of all documentation in the Jeffrey Epstein investigations. The bill will now go to the Senate after passing on a 427-1 vote:(Snip)After months of anticipation, the House of Representatives on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed a bill ordering the release of the Justice Department's files on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. It passed 427-1 -- with GOP Rep. Clay Higgins as the only vote against the measure.

One of the suppurating sores that still bedevil our body politic in the aftermath of COVID-19 is the ongoing abuse of mail-in voting. Absentee ballots have long been available to a small number of voters, of course. But, during the pandemic, many states used public safety as a pretext to dramatically expand eligibility for mail-in voting and to extend the deadlines for receiving these ballots. (snip) This inevitably creates concerns about election integrity. Consequently, it was only a matter of time before the U.S. Supreme Court would be required to decide if post-election vote counting violates federal law.

The New York City Police Department has to be feeling cursed these days. Having barely recovered from the dark years of Bill de Blasio and still emerging from the chaos of the Eric Adams era, the NYPD now faces the daunting prospect of reporting to democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani. But don’t bet against the men and women in blue. They are remarkably resilient—and they may have a secret weapon in their experienced and savvy commissioner, Jessica Tisch. The NYPD had a notoriously fractious relationship with de Blasio

Last week, New York City’s Department of Education announced the latest enrollment numbers for the city’s public schools. Another year of declines confirms an unsustainable trajectory—and highlights the challenge for newly elected mayor Zohran Mamdani. For the 2025–26 school year, NYCDOE reported 793,300 students enrolled in K-12 grades. That’s down 2.3 percent from the previous year and nearly 10 percent since 2020. DOE data also reveal that 112 of the city’s public schools have fewer than 150 students, up from 80 schools just two years ago.

It hasn't even been two full days since polls closed in New York City, so the full blossoming of the Mamdani effect is far from being fully witnessed. But what the heck. Let's take a peek in on parts of Gotham and see how things going. As for Zohran Mamdani himself, it didn't take more than an hour when it became official he would be the next resident of Gracie Mansion that the Mayor-Elect gave an angry acceptance speech. There were plenty of lowlights all throughout his address, but here are just some of the bits that will cause a lot of New Yorkers to

I did not vote for Zohran Mamdani. Call me crazy — but a socialist who, until five minutes ago, was gleefully tweeting to defund the police and who refuses to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada” is not my ideal steward for this glittering center of progress. On social media, there’s a relentless schadenfreude chorus of “You deserve what you vote for” from out-of-towners who don’t seem to understand that massive swathes of New Yorkers did not, in fact, vote for Mamdani. But that doesn’t mean I’m going anywhere.

It's beginning to look like the prediction Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) made about the Democrats and the shutdown is right. He predicted that after the elections, we would get some movement from the Democrats to end the shutdown, because the shutdown was about juicing their base, trying to whip them up to get out to the polls. Once the elections were over, they would then try to find an off-ramp to end the shutdown and claim a victory. Surprise, surprise. Now we're hearing that Democrats are engaging with Republicans on reopening the government, according to Punchbowl.

The conventional wisdom among most election analysts is that the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial contest between Republican Winsome Earle-Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger will be won by the latter. This consensus is primarily based on a series of polls that purport to show her ahead by comfortable margins. All such surveys, however, necessarily incorporate certain assumptions (snip) If those assumptions are inaccurate, pollsters can end up wiping a lot of egg yolk off their faces. In the Old Dominion, 45 days of early voting has produced a record-breaking turnout — except in localities where most of the electorate consists of black voters.

The ground beneath Democrats' feet is starting to shift. A government shutdown is not a strategy that works absent the media. The whole point of the exercise is to do something dramatic in order to bring attention and raise awareness of some particular issue. In this case, Democrats decided their issue would be health care. They would shut down the government to make demand Republicans extend Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire at the end of this year. For the past few weeks, that strategy has worked pretty well for Democrats for two reasons. First, the shutdown didn't really have much impact right away, especially because President Trump worked to ensure

Government shutdowns are always and everywhere about using government spending —or, really, the restriction of government spending —as political leverage. Sometimes they are used effectively, and sometimes not, but the goal is to impose pain on your negotiating partner and break their will. (Snip)Since politicians are careful to avoid feeling any of the pain directly—they consider themselves essential employees and keep the money flowing into their own pockets—the pain has to be inflicted on others, with the hope that the victims can implore their legislators to give in to demands.

It ain’t so much the things we don’t know that — Mark Twain (attributed) What’s the one thing everyone knows about capitalism? Why, that it started out as a mean, nasty tool of greedy industrialists, of course. “The Industrial Revolution,” we all learned, was a terrible Moloch that devoured children, put profits before people, and, though it made great fortunes (or, perhaps, partly because it made great fortunes), was a wicked development. The Industrial Revolution, we’ve all been taught, was the original sin of capitalism, necessary, perhaps, to prime the engine of economic progress, but lamentable nevertheless.
