How do you solve a problem like Iran?

Original Article

Many pro-Israel people I know, both Jewish and non-Jewish, are deeply worried about Trump’s current Middle East positions. He’s marginalizing Israel in negotiations with Saudi Arabia, accepting on the government’s behalf a luxury plane from double-dealing Qatar, and handing money to the goons in Syria. At the same time, he’s seemingly freezing out Israel, to the great consternation of Israel and its supporters. So, what gives? Having read Charles Lipson’s superb analysis of the problems in dealing with an almost nuclear Iran, and how Biden created this monster, I suspect that “what gives” may be Trump trying an out-of-the-box approach to isolating Iran long enough for his economic policies

Sorry to say, but no matter HOW BAD things might get after we take out Iranian deep underground bunkers, but WHATEVER means necessary, it will be WAY less terrible than what will happen WHEN, not if, Iran gets their nukes working. These violent, psychopathic, religious lunatics WILL NUKE Israel and very possibly nuke the USA, likely by truck delivered bombs, not missiles. To repeat, ANY blowback arising from taking out Iran's nukes by military force will be far less than if we do not do it. I wish, very much, that it was otherwise, but it is not.

You cannot negotiate with terrorists. Iran is a terrorist state. They engage and sponsor terrorism worldwide. Iran jerks people along until they accomplish their goals. This is what they are now doing with President Trump, the United States, and nations all over this planet. They will keep doing this until they reach their nuclear goal and then................BOOM. Looks as of now that President Trump doesn't have the necessary balls to do what needs doing to stop Iran's evil parade toward the bomb. Hope I am wrong. Hope Iran doesn't prove my worst fears to be correct. Just saying.

Why can't a random federal district court judge just issue a worldwide injunction that Iran cannot have nukes? (Hat tip #5). These federal judges are so powerful and wise, why not just take charge and get the job of governing done without the interposition of the Executive? Why not just issue a writ of brain surgery for those so afflicted? Oh, writing it down on a piece of paper isn't the same as doing it?

Well the Muslims, following their religious beliefs, have been offensively fighting against and trying to kill all the Jews for about 1,500 years. It’s entirely possible, based upon that history, that it is impossible to stop that fighting and killing without killing enough of those Muslims to get the survivors to modify their religious beliefs in those respects.

I have always had great respect for this author's opinions. The conclusions she jumps to in this article are weapons grade lunacy. Does anybody believe Trump has turned against Israel? Does anybody believe he is insincere in his very public opposition to Iran having nuclear weapons? I wondered about his reluctance to join Israel in taking out Iran's nuclear capability. Someone suggested that he wants Iran to continue to pump oil thereby suppressing the world price and putting pressure on Putin to end his war. Makes sense to me. Get the war in Ukraine settled, then get the Iran problem fixed. Seems like a plan to me.

Bob Dylan celebrates his 84th birthday today. When he snagged the Nobel Prize for Literature a few years ago, I pulled out all the stops by posting a big set of my favorite covers of his songs. I don’t have any stops left to pull, but I’m adding another cover or four (again) this year in honor of his birthday today. Dylan is first and foremost a songwriter. See, for example, Raymond Foye’s interview with Clinton Heylin about his deep dive into the Dylan archive. Dylan somehow absorbed the folk, rock, country, and blues traditions as a precocious young man growing up in Hibbing and then recapitulated

In February of this year, I wrote Trump imposes sanity on a green EV market. In that article I noted these characteristics of the rapidly closing electric vehicle—EV—doom loop: *1000-pound batteries wear out expensive tires at incredible rates. *Range is always less than the EPA and manufacturers claim. Public chargers are few and far between and often don’t work. *EVs are much more expensive than comparable conventional vehicles. *Parts are scarce and insurance and repair costs outlandish. *They lose value at incredible rates and there is virtually no used EV market. *They tend to spontaneously combust and since they make their own oxygen when on fire, are virtually impossible to extinguish. *They’re bought almost exclusively

Everyone is piling on Jake Tapper these days (including me). But sometimes he makes sense: Tapper and his Original Sin co-author Alex Thompson joined Scott Galloway on The Prof G Pod on Thursday, and Tapper at one point recounted how a left-leaning podcaster made a racism jab about his son after Tapper revealed he wanted to go into law enforcement. “My son is now 15 years old, and he’s a gamer. Today is the birthday of Minnesota native son Bob Dylan. He turns the ripe old age of 84. It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there. I want to celebrate him as long we’re both still around to enjoy the occasion. He is a remarkable artist, self-invented, deep in the American grain. A few years back I visited Dylan’s old home at 2425 7th Avenue East in Hibbing. The house is a small two-story residence with a one-car attached garage on the side. The house is exactly two blocks from Hibbing High School, Dylan’s alma mater. A Dylan fan must be somewhere in the chain of title. At the time

Is that right?” “That is correct,” Wright confirmed. Kennedy didn’t mince words

Far from helping to end the war in Ukraine, all the indications suggest that US President Donald Trump's mediation efforts are not only prolonging the conflict, but increasing the likelihood that Russia will ultimately emerge victorious. Indeed, far from showing any interest in ending Russia's military offensive in Ukraine, the Russian leader has given every intention that he intends to continue fighting until victory has been achieved. Nor does there appear to be any serious prospect that Trump will be willing to hit the Kremlin with further sanctions, let alone military encouragement, if it fails to show any serious interest in peace negotiations.

Left-wing media very much wants President Donald Trump to have dementia. At first, they began peddling this narrative to distract from former President Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive decline. It enlisted several mental health professionals to support their narrative. Dr. Bandy Lee, formerly of Yale University, claimed the president is showing clear signs of early dementia. Coupled with the glacial pace of U.S. talks with Iran on its nuclear program, and the state of readiness of Israeli strike forces, some analysts have concluded that Israel is prepared to strike Iranian nuclear facilities in a matter of days. The impasse in nuclear talks with Iran is "irreconcilable," according to the Israelis.

He was the face behind the infamous "hockey stick" graph, a man lauded by progressives, featured in Al Gore's documentary, and embraced by a media eager to label skeptics as dangerous deniers. But the courtroom, as it turns out, is no place for manufactured myths or moral grandstanding. A Washington, D.C. court just handed Mann a bruising legal defeat. After more than a decade of litigation, he has been ordered to pay over $1 million in attorney's fees to the very people he accused of defamation:
