A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Lamont, California, on Tuesday night and rumbled through a broad stretch of Southern California, including Los Angeles. The US Geological Survey reported the earthquake’s epicenter hit about 15 miles southwest of Lamont – and roughly 25 miles south of Bakersfield – around 9:09 p.m. PT. The survey earlier rated the earthquake a 5.3 magnitude but later downgraded it to 5.2. It may coe as a jolt to those who pray for California earthquakes that these small ones release pressure so that big ones are less likely. We felt nothing.

If your job is to sell earthquakes for ads or clicks, the higher the number the more saleable the story. The numbering system for severity of quakes was changed years back to "reflect a strength more in line with associated destruction". 5.2 of today ain't the 5.2 of yesteryear, not by a long shot. When you know that fact you have the power required to not be manipulated.

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has narrowed her search for a vice presidential running mate to two finalists, Governors Tim Walz of Minnesota and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, three sources with knowledge of the matter said. Harris, the U.S. vice president, is expected to announce her selection by Tuesday, ahead of her first scheduled public appearance with her running mate that evening at Temple University in Philadelphia. In a message to supporters late on Monday, Harris said she had yet to make her decision. "I know many of you are eager to find out who I will be selecting

The good news for the Trump campaign is that the sure Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is a lifelong California hard leftist at a time when the state is emblematic of progressive nihilism. Her extremist advocacies as a San Francisco county and city attorney, state Attorney General, and senator are on record. And they are consistent with what has virtually destroyed the state. Kamala Harris has selected Tim Walz as her running mate for the upcoming election. This decision raises serious concerns about national security and the integrity of American values, given Walz’s radical policies and extensive ties to Communist China. Senior reporter Paul Sperry from RealClear Investigations recently uncovered a disturbing pattern in Walz’s relationship with China. According to investigative journalist Paul Sperry on X, Walz traveled to China annually from 1996 until at least 2003.
