as They’re Forced to Cancel Event

Instead of focusing maximum attention on an opening ceremony that could generously be described as polarizing, perhaps the Parisian organizers of the 2024 Summer Olympics should’ve put more attention on the events themselves.
While much of the world has been dissecting and discussing the merits (or lack thereof) of the Olympics opening ceremonies and its religious overtones, that particular controversy may have worked out quite well for the organizers.
How?
Because all the chatter about the opening ceremonies has distracted people from talking about a different sort of black eye that the Olympics are slogging through: One of its events has been a logistical disaster.

I still think there won’t be any more Olympics. MAYBE 1 more.
But the costs and extraneous hazards will only sky rocket. With 10 bazillion ILLEGAL residents and accompanying costs and security here in the US, I don’t see how any city/state can afford to host in the future.
Besides, the Olympics are so yesterday. Merit is now passe. Adherence to diktat is now in vogue.

E. Coli comes from the human intestinal tract. The Seine River contains inadequately treated domestic wastewater that was not properly disinfected at the treatment plants. It will be a miracle if the swimmers don't contract an intestinal disease from swimming in the Seine.

As a Hungarian friend of mine was fond of saying...."Oh, Don't get me started on the French!" This is a good example of what he meant.

Yes, #1, at the next, and final, Olympics, they'll dispense with actual contests and simply award medals based on DEI principles, with a certain percentage of each type of medal going to blacks, transgenders, women of color, oversized persons of weight etc. as chosen by a democratic voting process executed by Dominion machines to achieve maximum *fairness*. For example, the marathon gold will likely go to a very fat lesbian, perhaps the very one who portrayed "Jesus", I mean some Greek god, in the opening ceremonies.

Olympic swimmers had to swim in nasty Brazilian water too.

Years ago my in-laws had their home flooded when a nearby river overflowed and flooded the sewage plant also. All the relatives pitched in to help with the clean-up and about half of us got sick from wading in the polluted water. I guess most of the athletes will still compete. They have spent half their lives training for this chance. I just hope nobody gets seriously ill. It will take years for the French to live down this Olympics debacle, if ever.

The last Paris Olympics was 1924.
Can't wait for the 2124 games.

Olympic organizers seem to be running the Games like Macron runs the country - stupidly. $1.5 billion in cleanup expense has been nullified by a rainstorm. My decision to watch none of this fiasco has been justified. Swimming in sewer water is fine for rats, for people, not so much.

Intestinal tract infections are only part of the risk here. For instance, diseases of the eyes and skin caused by strep and staph, which can sometimes be deadly, are also at play.

They should have planned for an alternate location to hold the triathlon in case the Seine was too polluted. No one wants to swim in a river full of e-coli!!
