The world's largest airline pilot union suggested airmen and women stop using terms purportedly offensive to women and LGBTQ individuals, calling out terms like "cockpit" as non-inclusive.
Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, represents over 70,000 pilots worldwide and states that it collaborates with a United Nations agency on its policies. According to a diversity, equity and inclusion language guide released in 2021, the ALPA lists numerous terms and phrases to avoid — especially "masculine generalizations" — that it deemed to be non-inclusive. (snip) Similarly, ALPA's guide called for the words "man" and "men" to be avoided. (snip) ALPA advised against using "mother/father."

I've posted this many times - - but please allow me to do it again - - - -
Eternal Truth - - Any organization which does not have to generate a profit in the free market - - will eventually be taken over by communists. The Pilots Union is no exception.

George Washington warned against foreign alliances. The UN, this pathetic wimpy union both fit now with his warning. "International" should be banned by the US.

It's tempting to dismiss this with the old "first world issue" label. But the issue isn't even first world, as much as it is religious. Dogmatic Genderism is systematically dismantling the Judeo-Christian social order, and it needs to stop.

Bet your life on it, it’s not the pilots that give a rats posterior BUT the Union democrat officials that are pushing this. Pilots want to fly and go home at the end of their shift.

Easy solution to those so easily offended in a "DEI culture": Do not have a DEI centered culture! Most problems, including declining pilot quality and morale, immediately goes away.

FTA: “boyfriend/girlfriend" should be avoided since the phrases could ignore same-sex couples.
FYI: Same sex couples already know they’re freaks, they should expect that. No one should condone their relevancy by bowing to them.

So they took a term that has evolved over more than 2 centuries that has everything to do with fighting chickens and turned it into a term assumed to be about men so the organizations can justify discrimination against men. So progressive.

The term “cockpit” comes from the nautical usage as where the “cockswain” (the pilot of a small boat) was located.
It has zero to do with male anatomy unless you are 12.

This term came from boats and ships, and the idiots who imagine otherwise are just showing their obnoxious ignorance.

So the pilots think they are chickens?
cockpit (n.)
1580s, "a pit or enclosed space for fighting c**ks," from c**k (n.1) + pit (n.1). Used in nautical sense (1706) for midshipmen's compartment below decks; transferred to airplanes (1914) and to racing cars (1930s).

Hey, guess what? Lucianne is just as sensitive as the pilots' union is.
It won't let me use "c**k" in a definition of what a cockpit is.
