Realizing God had steered them northward so they would not be under the authority of the Virginia Colony, they were now free to draft their own articles of government.
Whoever came up with the original concept of “smart” devices had to be a fan of the “Terminator” movies.
Because if these things are smart, they wouldn’t break down constantly and drive us insane. But that’s part of their devious plan. (I’m not some conspiracy theory guy. This is real.)
The 2023 election was another disappointing affair for Republicans. Kentucky and Ohio both produced results that should leave the GOP questioning what changes need to be made before the all-important 2024 election arrives. With that said, there were some bright spots. Specifically, in Virginia, Republicans showed a surprising level of strength despite falling short of taking the legislature. That's probably not what you are getting from the headlines this morning, but the numbers show an overperformance by the Glenn Youngkin-led GOP there.
When campaigning for your 2022 vote, did you see any advertisements from conservative candidates promoting the idea, “If you elect me, I will vote for raising taxes on gasoline, unlimited expansion of casino gambling, legalizing marijuana, and keeping Alabama’s K-12 education system 50th in the nation?”
The answer is a resounding NO! Yet given the direction of these issues in our state, you’re likely perplexed as to who is really running Montgomery.
Much of the planet is holding its breath waiting for the next move in the war in Israel and wondering if it will spiral out of control into a wider regional war… Evil will always exist, but the greatest danger to free people are the so-called moderates that refuse to acknowledge or choose between good and evil. While most are unsuspecting, it is among the cowardly or undecided where Satan makes his greatest gains.

...The image of the empty altar-place, stripped clean as though by birds on a roadkill, brought my mind back to something I saw online not long after the Hamas attack on Israel. It was a young Muslim man standing frantic and desperate in Times Square, claiming that now was the time that EVERYONE must convert to the religion of Islam.

MONTGOMERY — The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments Friday for overturning a preliminary injunction filed against Alabama's Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act (VCAP).
In April, Gov. Kay Ivey signed VCAP (SB184) into law, which prohibits doctors in the state of Alabama from performing transgender operations or prescribing cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to individuals under 19.
VCAP went into effect on May 8 but was blocked by U.S. District Judge Liles Burke a few days later..."Of course, we have a rational basis for preventing the sterilization of children; it's to prevent the sterilization of children,"...

While most men accept the surface of things, the masters of men use the surface to mean many different things for their many different ends. If you wish to understand politics, do not listen merely to the words political people say but rather inspect below the surface for the necessities such people may face. The same applies to entire nations.
On the surface level, we may still have de jure freedom and democracy in America, but below the surface, the government's necessary evils have expanded to a de facto tyranny of loosely aligned interests.
Republicans went into the midterm election Tuesday hoping to take back Congress from Democrats in a "red wave." When that didn't happen, many began speculating about what led to the low performance, but U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) said the GOP has no one to blame but themselves.
"For more than two decades, all across America, GOP office-holders have dismally failed to protect and promote moral values, border security, liberty and freedom, balanced budgets, family incomes, the public's interests (not special interests), free enterprise, and the like," Brooks told 1819 News.

A U.S. Postal Service (USPS) employee and two others were arrested for a scheme involving stealing over $24 million in checks from the mail and selling them online, prosecutors say.
The postal worker, Nakedra Shannon, 29, was employed by the USPS as a mail processing clerk at a processing and distribution center in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of North Carolina.
Shannon allegedly worked alongside two co-conspirators, Donnell Gardner, 27, and Desiray Carter, 24, to steal incoming and outgoing checks from April to July 2023. The co-conspirators then sold the checks through the Telegram channel “OG Glass House,” per the statement.

Electric vehicles have been around for 100 years or so. They lost out to gasoline powered cars because gasoline powered cars are better. Is that ever going to change? At the Telegraph, Michael Kelly draws an analogy to the Concorde:

The Washington Post reported Saturday night (in Israel, Sunday morning) that a tentative deal had been reached in which there would be a five-day pause in fighting in Gaza in exchange for the release of at least 50 female and child hostages by Hamas.
No men would be released under the deal, and no male or female soldiers, according to the Post, which cited unnamed officials describing an agreement brokered by the U.S. and Qatar as intermediaries between Israel and the Hamas terror organization.

Rosalynn Carter, who as first lady worked tirelessly on behalf of mental health reform and professionalized the role of the president’s spouse, died Sunday at the age of 96, according to the Carter Center.
Carter passed away peacefully with family by her side at her home in Plains, Georgia, the center said in a statement.
“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, said in a statement. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Wall Street financiers are looking to Nikki Haley as the candidate to pull the 2024 Republican nomination away from former President Donald Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Haley is currently placing third in national polling at 9.5% behind Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida at 14.3% and Trump at 59.7%, according to Real Clear Politics.
