A U.S. Postal Service (USPS) employee and two others were arrested for a scheme involving stealing over $24 million in checks from the mail and selling them online, prosecutors say. The postal worker, Nakedra Shannon, 29, was employed by the USPS as a mail processing clerk at a processing and distribution center in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Western District of North Carolina. Shannon allegedly worked alongside two co-conspirators, Donnell Gardner, 27, and Desiray Carter, 24, to steal incoming and outgoing checks from April to July 2023. The co-conspirators then sold the checks through the Telegram channel “OG Glass House,” per the statement.

We just had this happen to us in April. Our income tax payment check was washed. Took months to straighten it out. The bank finally paid the loss, after putting us through hoop after hoop. We filed reports with the USPS and the local police, and just the other day the Postal Inspector called to say they think they have the suspects.

So I have been told repeatedly by my banks and by the post office itself not to send checks from my mail box or from a blue postal collection box. Well, it's been my practice forever to ONLY send mail from the post office, inside, through the slot in the wall. AND NOW I FIND THATR THEY'RE STEALING IT ANYWAY!!! All of my mail, in and out, goes through Charlotte. And the post office is stealing mail from the post office. So what now???

Is 24 million part of the 5.2 billion of the PO losses last year? I read about a similar situation where mail was stolen from blue mail boxes, checks washed & amounts changed. I haven't mailed any checks since... very concerning when PO cannot be trusted! Oh well, the JD can't be trusted either! Sad country!

Now we know who has been stealing the checks businesses put in the mail. And also who has been stealing mail in ballots, and destroying mail in ballots mailed from Republican areas. Can we trust those dates stamped on election ballots, or were they received after the cutoff date? What else have postal workers been doing?

The majority, if not all, of the post offices in the metro Atlanta area have employees that steal mail that could possibly contain checks or gift cards. This is according to the comments I’ve read on the local Next Door app.I mailed a thank you card to a friend and it never arrived. It was probably opened by an employee looking for cash or a gift card. If I absolutely have to mail a check I do it through my bank.

Our community has also been told not to place outgoing mail in home mailboxes, the neighborhood blue boxes, or even the blue boxes in the post office parking lot. Then we found out that employees at at least one post office were stealing checks. Since I rarely pay on line due to the fact that I have been hit with identity threat four times, it is now send a check and hope that it is not stolen.

A three-judge panel of the D.C. Officials in Oregon are considering reversing key provisions of a 2021 liberal experiment to decriminalize heroin and fentanyl, The Telegraph reported. The rationale behind the original initiative, called Measure 110, was that decriminalizing hard drugs would make access to treatment easier for addicts, according to The Telegraph. Currently, support for Measure 110 in Oregon, the first state to take the step of decriminalizing hard drugs, appears to be waning, according to the outlet. Whereas Measure 110 was backed by 58 percent of voters in November 2020, a recent Emerson College poll revealed that public opinion has swung drastically, with 56 percent of voters now saying they would back a repeal,
