The statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee that was at the center of the deadly 2017 white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., was secretly melted down last week to be remade into a more inclusive artwork.
The bronze equestrian statue of Lee, which featured prominently in the 2017 Unite the Right rally, was incinerated in a 2,250-degree furnace Saturday, according to the Washington Post.
It was cut into nine pieces, weighed about 6,000 pounds and required a forklift to move.
It was melted down and then molded into a brick-like casting.

Nikki Haley is slowly rising in the Republican presidential primary polls. She put in good performances in the first two RNC debates and it is starting to pay off.
Haley and the other Republicans running in the primary have been slow to criticize Trump or draw sharp distinctions between his record and what they pledge to do in office. That’s a problem when the frontrunner, Trump, is so far ahead in the polls. Haley spoke out in Las Vegas on Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition annual summit. It’s a gathering for donors so if there is ever a good time to distinguish yourself as a candidate from the others

Washington Post associate editor and New York Times columnist freaked out on Friday’s PBS NewsHour at the news that Republicans selected Mike Johnson to be the new Speaker of the House by portraying him as a “far-right” religious extremist out to impose “Christian nationalism” on the country.
Noting Johnson’s relative obscurity, Capehart predicted, “And the more information we find out about him and the more information the American people find out about him, the more I think they're going to be uncomfortable, from his pushing for a national abortion ban, to introducing legislation for a federal so-called Don't Say Gay Bill, his comments on homosexuality and same-sex marriage.”

Senate Democrats are working with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.) and a handful of Republicans on a rarely used procedural tactic to defeat Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s (R-Ala.) blockade of more than 360 military promotions, a stalemate that has consumed the Senate for months. Democrats are looking at using a standing order resolution to move a block of more than 300 nonpolitical military nominees who have been stalled for months because of Tuberville’s holds to protest the Department of Defense’s (DOD) abortion policies.

Henchmen for Venezuela's dictator and many of the South American country's worst criminals have crossed over the US border and are now causing chaos in major American cities, including Dallas, Miami and Chicago, multiple sources tell the DailyMail.com.
In Dallas, the Venezuelan neighborhood known as 'Villa Dallas' has descended into mayhem. For months, once peaceful apartment complexes have been the scene of illegal street races, beatings, shootings and extortion attempts.
Residents, overwhelmingly migrants who recently made the harrowing trek through several countries to reach America and are seeking asylum, pointed to videos of fights between armed men, broken windows and reckless drivers

Saturday Night Live took on 80-year-old President Joe Biden in its latest episode over concerns about his age.
In a rollicking cold open, SNL’s Mikey Day — taking over the role of the president from cast-mate James Austin Johnson — portrayed Biden as a man wanting to assuage voter concerns about his age. His idea to win over skeptics was to climb a ladder in the Oval Officer to put up Halloween decorations.
“I want to put everyone at ease,” said Day as Biden. “Nothing puts people at ease like an 80-year-old man hanging Halloween decoration.”

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), who is running against President Joe Biden for the 2024 Democratic nomination, claimed he is not running against President Joe Biden for the 2024 Democratic nomination.
Appearing on Friday’s Meet the Press Now, Phillips fielded questions from Kristen Welker.
“As some of President Biden’s supporters have pointed out, you have voted with President Biden nearly 100% of the time,” she said. “So, I guess the question is, do you have any major policy critiques about the Biden administration?”
“Well, Kristen, I admire the president,” Phillips replied. “I voted for those policies because they’re good ones and they will be making a difference over time.

I’ve been saying for a long time that the transgender takeover of women’s sports is going to end only when women stop competing against them. It makes sense that this retreat from competition is happening in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (“BJJ”), which is a close-contact sport in which women can get hurt, unlike racing. At a recent women’s BJJ competition, men completely dominated the event, with some events having only male competitors.
I did BJJ for almost a decade, although I started too late in life ever to be any good, and my joints got damaged before I got my advanced belts. However, I know a lot about the sport.

Jewish students at Cornell University in upstate New York are reportedly hiding in their rooms after vile, anti-Semitic death threats were posted on a student message board. The campus kosher dining hall was singled out with a threat of a massacre. Police are reportedly on scene and the Cornell administration has issued a statement expressing concern. Secretary of State Antony Blinken contends that Hamas would gain no “greater” victory “than allowing its brutality to send us down a path of terrorism and nihilism. We must not let it.”
You can hear echoes of Barack Obama’s insufferable moral equivalencies imbued in that statement.
The contention is a not-so-subtle warning to Israel, who will almost surely enter Gaza and try to dismantle the Hamas terror state — which has been indirectly and directly funded not only by Iran, the European Union, and the United Nations but also by the Obama and Biden administrations.
The insinuation, of course, is that Israel needs to temper its inclination to engage in “terrorism and nihilism.

One CVS drug store in Washington, D.C. has taken much of its stock off the shelves and is using the space to display photos of what customers used to be able to grab for themselves.
Conservative commentator Joey Mannarino posted to X photos he claimed were from a CVS store on H Street in Washington, D.C.
“This is from the CVS on H Street in Washington DC. Due to the out-of-control theft, they have now put away almost all their items and just have photographs of what is in stock. You press the button and the sales associate gets you what you need,” he posted.

A gag order in the federal election interference case against former President Donald Trump was back in effect Sunday after the presiding judge ended her pause on the order.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan had granted Trump's defense team an administrative stay, meaning the gag order was on hold while the defense pursued an appeal. But on Sunday, Chutkan signed an opinion that lifted her Oct. 20 stay, essentially putting the gag order back into effect. The order prohibits Trump from making statements about potential witnesses or disparaging comments about the prosecutors. The team of federal special counsel Jack Smith asked for the gag order to "protect the integrity
