As his first act as Acting Speaker, Rep. Patrick McHenry ordered Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol hideaway office by Wednesday.
Rep. Patrick McHenry (NC) was appointed as Acting Speaker after McCarthy was ousted.
McCarthy chose McHenry as Speaker Pro Tempore earlier this year and he now has all the powers of a House Speaker. McHenry ordered former Speaker Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol hideaway office pronto! Pelosi lashed out at McHenry and said his ruthless move to evict her from her hideaway office is “a sharp departure from tradition.”
The best part about this ruthless move by McHenry is that Pelosi isn’t even in Washington DC right now.

Funny how tradition is all of the sudden important to Pelosi. While Speaker, she broke tradition all the time to stick it to Republicans and Trump. Remember the -itch tearing up trhe State of the Union speech during the State of the Union. Not only did that break tradition, it broke the law. She has no standing to complain about anything. The woman is a waste of oxygen.

I'm sure she has personal slaves who can drag her trash out of the office in her absence. What a difference a day makes. Drag nasty when she gets back. This is good stuff! Have to say I'm suspicious of McHenry since he was appointed by McCarthy, but he can prove himself given time.

In the true and glorious fashion of “…be careful what you wish for…”. Now let’s take it to the next level and make Jim Jordan the speaker. I would love to be a fly on the wall when Jordan gets the gavel, and summons the Sgt. at Arms to arrest Bowman for pulling the fire alarm. Ruthless rule over Hakim and company should start from that minute.

I had to look up "hideaway office". Had never heard of it before.
There are 100 hideaway offices in the US capitol bldg. They are primarily used by Senators but a few high ranking house members can get them. They are assigned by seniority.
These are secondary offices separate from the congressmans assigned office. They are unlisted," that means secret" and identified only by an office number on the door. Supposedly to be used for floor prep but more likeley used anytime a congress critter wants to be unavailable. An out of sight place to sleep, play video games, hold secret off the record meetings, meet folks they don't want to admit they met, plot to rule world or meet unsavory people who are not their spouses.
My guess is Pelosi spent a lot of time there prior to and on Jan 6.

None too subtle warning to the fascist that their coconspirator participation in McCarthy's removal didn't go unnoticed. Wouldn't be surprised if nothing to lose McHenry goes metaphorically Medieval on the Democrats. And moved to put bills in front of McConnell that pushes him towards the Rebublican party and out from under Schumer's spell. Of course nothing is gonna happen but nice to see Naci get a little poke in the eye.

With McCarthy announcing he won't seek to regain the Speaker post, we will now be able to select a Speaker from a longer list of qualified persons. They will not decline the offer this time with McCarthy on the sideline. Will we be pleasantly surprised?

If the ancient drunken, evil, commie witch's crap isn't out of the office by Wednesday, throw it all out in the street for the communist death democrats homeless constituency can cart it all away. All I know so far about McHenry is the ancient and honorable name McHenry. But I love how he started his tenure. If they need a few extra hands to come remove Pelosi's crappola and her Victrola, I can help. Can't you just see nasty Nancy in her black funeral garb dabbing her eyes with a silk hanky for her "dear friend"? She'll be wringing every vote/dollar out of this deal she can.

Well, I don't know if it is a 'spine' moment or an 'ain't got nothing to lose' moment. What's the downside for McHenry for doing this? Nada that I can see. What's the upside? A lot! I don't care if someone does something to enhance his bona fides, if the things he does are positive to our side. That's kind of the point of us conservatives pressuring our squishes to do the right thing. Lots of upside if you do, lots of misery (from your constituents) if you don't. Personally, I'd want Louie Gohmert for speaker. Yeah, he's not in the House any more, but there's no requirement that speaker be a house member!

#3, Come on. How long did it take to make that statement? There are still plenty of hours in the day to work on other measures. However, this one small thing put a smile on my face and I would argue many other faces too. Democrats, Nasty Nan in particular, are petty tyrants that squeal like a pig when they get a taste of their own medicine. It’s all about power and McHenry just hit Pelosi where it hurts, her oversized ego. She is not queen of the House and deserves zero accommodations.

Re #3 - True but until Biden leaves office or is removed, his Executive Orders trump anything Congress passes. We HAVE immigration laws on the books and they have been completely trashed by Biden through his EOs. This country is a Constitutional Republic and it was designed so that Congress would craft and pass legislation - we were not meant to be governed by Executive Orders.
And for all those people critical of Gaetz and the eight Republicans who supported the ouster of McCarthy and crying we have to get control of the White House and Congress. Well, we had that once not too long ago and two people stopped Trump's agenda, our agenda. And those two were Paul Ryan Mitch McConnell. Pretty obvious most Republicans in Congress do not want to govern; swing down hard the gavel of power. No, it's enrich themselves and talk a good talk. McCarthy has not allowed one subpoena to be issued to Wray or any of the Bidens, etc. Three subpoenas were approved by Pelosi to force Don Trump, Jr to testify before Congress three times for Nothing.

I like this Speaker McHenry already. Not only is he coming out with both barrels firing he's stuck it to one of the most corrupt, evil. idiotic members in the House in Nasty Nancy Pelosi. She who now cries about what he did being "a sharp departure from tradition." I'm sure her fellow democrats in that body would like us to forget her very many stunts while Speaker that were "a sharp departure from tradition." She can go kick rocks in rush hour traffice as far as I'm concerned. As for McHenry hopefully he does all he can to destroy everything Milquetoast McCarthy has done and keeps sticking it to the democrats.

By the way, it would benefit all Americans if we expected clean campaigns, clean elections, and clean leadership. We do this by expecting transparency and accountability. To me, it isn't enough just to vote someone out. Terms for various positions are four-year, six-year, or more. That is a long time to serve oneself. Nobody seems to keep DC accountable and I think we Americans should have another venue to keep them accountable. These committees that say they are looking into this or that and it goes on forever is just another form of not being accountable. I would love to see Americans have their own accountability committee.
#44, I am right there with you wanting to know who occupies these hide-away offices. . .

Is there a specific office for Speaker of the House? In that case, why didn't McCarthy ever kick Pelosi out? Why didn't the Democrat Jeffries kick her out?
OTOH, if there is no office designated for the speaker, this is just petty. Pelosi intimately knows petty. No sympathy for her regardless.

Sam Rayburn had a hidey-hole like this back in the day. It was called "The Board of Education." Harry Truman was there one early one spring evening having a "slight libation" when someone came in and passed along a message that the White House had called & he needed to call them back right away. I think that was Harry's last visit to Sam's little office.
