A Maine health-care provider wants the nurses it fired during the pandemic for refusing to be vaccinated against the coronavirus to come back to work.
MaineGeneral Health in Augusta has reached out to health-care workers, many of whom were denied unemployment compensation after they were fired, according to The Maine Wire.
Former registered nurse Terry Poland shared the message she received from the employer that booted her.
“You were once a proud member of the MaineGeneral team. Would you consider rejoining us? We would be pleased to discuss options with you,” the facility told her in a text, per The Maine Wire.

Their reply to the hospital staff who fired them should be not just NO, but HELL NO.

With the trend towards returning to masks and some already making plans for new lockdowns, those nurses might do well to anticipate a replay being queued up. Those hospitals are likely to be demanding a new jab before year's end.

Agree with #1, but make it back pay with interest, along with an iron clad contract that prohibits firing for refusing a vaccine.

My, my. The shoe is on the other foot now. Yes, on back pay. Also fire the hospital administrators who fired them. At the least, demote them to nurse assistant and see how they handle bathing and dressing patients.

I work with a Muslim lady whose husband is a nurse at a huge highly-rated hospital. They did not get covid shots for religious reasons. His supervisor never hassled him.

Rot in Hell you fascists. A company that would do that over covid will do it again on some other issue. They think they have the legal and moral authority.

The nurse's response is pretty typical of people who've been laid off. They move on and find other jobs, but still harbor resentment for the way they were treated. It isn't just "no," it is "no way in [fill in the blank]" if asked to come back.

Guessing the owners discovered they couldn't milk their business like a cash cow and keep the doors open at the same time. Too bad those nurses couldn't sue for wrongful termination. You cannot force someone to take a vaccine. Especially if it could be harmful.

Demand, first a written contract that they CANNOT require any medical shots, treatments or vaccines as a requirement for continued employment, and then a lump sum settlement required. Three years of 100% back pay, plus one extra year's gross salary for 'pain and suffering'.

You know how monumentally difficult it is to fold something "7 ways"?
I'd tell them to fold their offer 8 ways and call me in the morning.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Stay away from these liars.

And in a month will be demanding that they take the new vaccine that is coming out.
And the new Covid Lockdown Dancing Nurses videos being choreographed.... Because , ya know, the hospitals are filled with thousands of people dying in the hallways of Covid 23 and they are so overwhelmed that they just 'Gotta Dance!'

I was thinking that maybe she should go back, with a pay raise and guarantee this won't happen again. Then I got to this part of the article: "The result was that she was fired and accused of misconduct, which meant she could not collect unemployment benefits, according to The Maine Wire."
I can't imagine why anyone would agree to return to that hospital.

I would make a lot of demands, and make them put everything in the employment contract. Then at the last minute demand an apology in person from each of the people involved in firing you. Then if they apologize say you changed your mind and they can go to hel-.

My RN daughter had to put a career that has spanned 22 years on hold thanks to the tyranny of the states and Feds with the lockdown nonsense. I hope they are willing to pay through the nose, this is going to cost them.
Hospital administration has always been the worst enemy of the medical staff they oversee. Simply because they worry more about the bottom line instead of the lives the doctors and nurses are trying to help.

This also happened to a lot of pilots who were fired. I no longer fly but do people ever wonder who they hired to take their places?

Give the high demand for qualified nurses throughout the country, this hospital can beg all they want. Maine is a high taxed blue state. The nurse would do much better and be more valued in a red state.

If so back pay with interest, they must pay for healthcare benefits if they had to buy it during the unemployed period, a raise and more weeks vacation plus a contract stating such.

One of well kept secrets about those fired for not getting the Covid vaccine was many of them had gotten Covid while treating the sick before there was a vaccine and survived. They had natural immunity that was proven to be be better than that from mRNA vaccine. The politics of pushing the mRNA vaccine refused to acknowledge natural immunity resulting in these brave medical staff being treated like dirt.
They should all get back pay for being unjustly fired. And, they should then be able to tell those that unjustly fired them to burn in hell.
