A family-owned convenience store owner shot and killed two of three attackers who attempted to rob him in a “jugging” incident after leaving a bank in Houston on Wednesday. [Video] The owner of Ruiz Cash & Carry convenience store located in Houston’s East End went to the bank to deposit funds from that day’s business transactions. He then went back to his store where he was attacked from behind, according to TheBlaze. He was reportedly bashed in the back of the head with an unidentified blunt object. The owner then turned to see the masked men wearing gloves who were assaulting him.

This will warm your heart. FTA: “ I do want to appeal to anyone who’s watching to please consider your actions, consider your decisions because choices have consequences,” Houston Police Assistant Chief Chandra Hatcher warned. ….” We don’t ever advocate violence or crime, but our citizens do have the right to defend themselves and choices have consequences,” she reiterated.” Very very good.

Well done. Make stupid choices, suffer the consequences. Or as the kids say, "Fool Around and Find Out!" (or something similar) For a moment, I thought 'jugging' was something that an exotic dancer would do after receiving a sizeable tip...[a lame attempt at humor!]

Glad that Texas has 2 less thieves. The world keeps changing. Can't even remember the last time I used coins for anything. Have a few silvers dollars my grandfather gave me but that's it, Almost the same for cash. Used to visit ATMs weekly. Now I use credit cards for everything. This attempted theft wouldn't have occurred if the store owner got rid of cash.

They work in teams; they conduct hours of surveillance, and they are watching for citizens who may walk out of the bank with a bank deposit bag or guns from a gun range,” Hitzman said, according to Houston Public Media. “Juggle” one exiting a gun range after a master session of headshots? The police suggest that they will plan to attack people leaving a gun range with a gun? Wow, they really ARE stupid. Someone who has just spent some time practicing and definitely has their gun with them is the most likely to do a good job defending themselves, it would seem.

"Jugging" is a new word for an old activity. Some people don't ever go to the bank or credit union unarmed for the reasons in this article. You never know if a lurking highwayman or two want to take everything you've got. Always pay attention to what's going on around you. If you have a permit, practice on the range, wear your gun, and be able to draw it instantly. Being able to do so might save your life. There are a lot of criminals out there, and they are bold. Killing you for your cash, car keys, or phone is not a big problem for feral criminals. If they appear, be ready to send them home, two dimensional, to their ancestors.

An article I read several months ago reported that 10% of the Texas population have jumped thru the hoops to receive a License to Carry. Texas also has Constitutional Carry, so the number of legally armed Texans exceeds 10%. (Incidentally, a friend recently reported that he had read that the medium-sized town in which we live has, per capita, the highest rate of LTC holders in the Lone Star State.) So, if that 10% state-wide figure is correct, we have some percentage much greater than 10 when you add in all those Constitutional carriers. I am not a statistics whiz, but, for the sake of argument, let's say an additional 10% of the population carries. Is a 20% chance of being shot worth the risk? Besides, I would think that in a business such as a convenience store, which likely sells not only beer but liquor, there is a high probability the owner and staff might be armed. I can tell anyone reading, having myself sustained a thru and thru gunshot wound during service in Vietnam, while possibly survivable, some degree of bodily damage from a bullet(s) can be permanent. In answer to an earlier question, some areas of Texas haves experienced an uptick in crime since some of the Katrina refugees stayed on here.

Dates have been proposed for former President Donald Trump’s four criminal trials, and they appear to follow a suspicious pattern. Each of Trump's trials will take place at a crucial point in the GOP primary, guaranteeing it will dominate news coverage of the primary from start to finish. The trials will likely hamstring Trump’s efforts to campaign, and this could undermine his appeal if voters decide the former president is too bogged down to effectively run for a second term. Given the polling and fundraising boosts which Trump has enjoyed after each indictment, however, the trial dates could also push Trump to victory.
