The Weaponization of Justice

If you read nothing else this week, read Victor Davis Hanson’s article in American Greatness detailing how Obama began “the most radical revolutions” in our history. As legal matters -- the lawfare waged against former President Trump and the Department of Justice’s pussyfooting around the Biden bribery took this week’s center stage, it’s useful to note his remarks on the weaponization of justice in this country. The weaponization is on two fronts, the Department of Justice and individual judges. If this continues the republic will cease to exist.

Can someone who is a criminal defense attorney comment on the statement in the article that orders that affect pre-trial detention are immediately appealable? From what I have found, it seems only the government, not the defendant can appeal to the Appellate Court.

The justice department was weaponized under the illegal obama regime...he made sure he had control of the courts and Nia and Cia and FBI....he even used Lois Lerner to attack and hound the Tea Party...it's becoming very obvious that obama....who is in charge of the White House again...is out to destroy America....he needs to be stopped....

Another great column from Clarice, who is not a wet behind the ears journalist writing on legal issues. She has practiced law in many venues. Read her bio. In this piece she cites not only Victor Davis Hanson but Shipwrecked Crew, a legal expert (as I recall he was a prosecutor for 20some years) who knows his stuff. Glad to see Clarice is back in Must Reads.

Re #9, is this what is being discussed? I am not a lawyer. c) Appeal From a Release or Detention Order.— An appeal from a release or detention order, or from a decision denying revocation or amendment of such an order, is governed by the provisions of section 1291 of title 28 and section 3731 of this title. The Constitution applies to everybody. Some people in Washington need to get that through their thick heads. We had a fake theatrical insurrection event in Washingon on January 6th, 2021 that involved many people in the government. Their Capitol Police murdered two unarmed women, the same people who are persecuting Donald Trump today. He was nothing more than the target of that Pelosi-created carnival side show. He doesn't deserve any of this and if he is charged in one of their Kangaroo courts and imprisoned, the people will not be intimidated this time because the facts are well known. I hope Garland and his compromised lawyers and judges are aware of that. This is not government business as usual, this is the future of our country. We can not let it stand if we wish to keep this country.

IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley had a lot to say about the decision this week by Attorney General Merrick Garland to make U.S. Attorney David Weiss Special Counsel in the probe into Hunter Biden. (snip) Neither Biden nor Harris will visit the devastated Hawaiian island despite the destruction, according to Harris. “We don’t want to distract from the resources that need to go in to the victims of this tragedy, and of course, the needs of the first responders have to be able to focus on that issue and not worry about focusing on us [because] we’re there,” Harris told reporters before boarding Air Force Two for Chicago.

US Rep. Cori Bush pocketed $15,000 for teaching a university summer course on reparations, according to her financial disclosure report. The Missouri congresswoman — and longtime champion of offering cash payments to black Americans as compensation for slavery — earned the dough from George Mason University for co-teaching the class “The Public Pedagogy of Truth and Reparations.” The course is expected to focus on “truth telling processes” as well as “state sponsored violence against African Americans and other targeted groups,” the school said in a news release. Bush is a member of the Squad — a loose alignment of far left House members led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens).

Naturally, left wing heads exploded all across the country. You can’t do that! Only left-wing judges can demand that right-wing fascists attend ‘sensitivity training’ and other bogus seminars. More than that, the left immediately leapt on the charge that ADF was a “hate group” because the Southern Poverty Law Center says so. Since they’ve never been wrong, it must be so.
