Vivek Ramaswamy suggests he would let
China invade Taiwan post-2029 if elected president

Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy said Monday that he would be less attentive to China’s threat to Taiwan once he’s had four years to attain US “semiconductor independence.” “Xi Jinping should not mess with Taiwan until we have achieved semiconductor independence, until the end of my first term when I will lead us there,” Ramaswamy told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. After that, our commitments to Taiwan — our commitments to be willing to go to military conflict — will change after that, because that’s rationally in our self-interest. That is honest. That is true, and that is credible.

Once the US declared that Taiwan is Chinese territory, the invasion by the mainland became just a matter of time. Vivek is correct that the only reason we care is because the idiots in Silicon Valley ceded Chip manufacturing to Taiwan because it was cheaper. What he is saying is that it will take till 2029 for us to be able to build our own chips in the US. Once that happens, China can take back control of it's territory. Again, if the US had not recognized Mainland China as owning Taiwan, we could work to protect Taiwan.

but the reality of this whole situation is ... that no one can stop the Chicoms from invading Taiwan which is only 100 miles from Taiwan, which is about the same distance as from Cuba to the USofA and with the commie underlings in the diaper administration there would be no preparedness or assistance

I’m unaware of any Soros connection to Ramaswamy. I did see a story alleging that a scholarship he received when he was a youngster on his way to college was from a source that was partially funded by a Soros scholarship entity. If there is something actually more sinister than a young man accepting money to pursue his education I’d be happy to hear it.

It isn't just semiconductor stuff we get from Taiwan folks. Take a look at the labels when you are in the store sometime. Taiwan produces a ton of other products that everyone uses everyday. Taiwan's wealth is being eyed greedily by the flailing China tyrants and they are licking their greedy chops at the idea of stealing all that wealth. I don't trust any candidate that says he would let another country like China invade an island nation that doesn't want to be part of the mainland.

He just lost my vote. Taiwan is about a lot more than semi conductors. If we don't defend a country we've said we would for decades then our word is no good. Anyway, every day that goes by, China becomes weaker than us militarily, not stronger. By the time NGAD is flying in numbers their chances are zero. They already can't deal well with the F2w and F35 and the navy is slowly getting their act together. NGAD will be decades ahead of anything they'll have. Turkey shoot as the entire Chinese Air Force goes into the water and without air cover an invasion is impossible.

What a message to our non-totalitarian international "friends." We support you so long as you supply a commodity we need but besides that, you're on your own. Ramaswamy appears to be a mile wide but an inch deep. He's riding the popularity he received from praising Donald Trump. Communist China's in-roads made into the U.S. and other Western Hemisphere countries leave them as vulnerable to being sent packing back across the Pacific as Taiwan, aka The Republic of China, is to Communist Chinese invasion. I bet Trump knows that and would not be disinclined to play that card, as well as punishing economic measures, if sufficiently provoked. To Ramaswamy, U.S. commitments mean nothing.

My wife recently returned from visiting family and friends in Taiwan. They don't seem to be too worked up about the prospect of being absorbed into China. I think they view it as natural and inevitable. They also think the US is just stirring up trouble. That's the report from one Taiwanese ex-pat. Ramaswamy, like Trump, does not want the US to get involved in foreign wars unless our vital national interests are at stake. Here, I had to laugh when he explained that Taiwan Semiconductor is our only vital interest in Taiwan, and would be for the next four years. It's the kind of in-artful but brutally honest comment that I would expect from Trump, and what I like about both men.

Population of Taiwan is 23.5 million. How many soldiers would it take to pacify Taiwan? What would be the price tag? China should think twice. Especially if other nations start supplying the Tiawanese people. As for Ramaswamy, he's not the answer. He never was.

ATLANTA (AP) — A grand jury in Georgia heard from witnesses into the evening Monday in the election subversion investigation into Donald Trump, a long day of testimony punctuated by the mysterious and brief appearance on a county website of a list of criminal charges against the former president that prosecutors later disavowed. Prosecutors in Fulton County were presenting evidence to the grand jury as they pushed toward a likely indictment, summoning multiple former state officials including the ex-lieutenant governor as witnesses.

Roughly 100 years ago, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson admitted that, as a player for the Chicago White Sox, he and seven other teammates had intentionally lost the World Series to the Cincinnati Reds in 1919. When a kid stopped him outside of the grand jury room and asked “It ain’t true, is it, Joe?” Jackson responded “Yes, kid, I’m afraid it is.” This is not a case of history repeating itself. After being confronted by allegations of a fixed investigation, Attorney General Merrick Garland just sent Shoeless Joe back into the game,

He could have appointed someone else as special counsel, and he could have expanded the mandate. He could have said, look, there are a lot of concerns about influence peddling crimes associated with the Biden family. We're going to have all of those investigated independently, and the facts will take it where it needs to lead. He didn't do that.

Ronna McDaniel saw the writing on the wall — Donald Trump, the most popular Republican candidate in history (by far), refuses to quit in spite of the endless legal and political witch hunts — and something had to be done. So Mitt Romney's niece threw a hail Mary, and back in February, McDaniel mulled the idea of a "loyalty pledge" before promptly instituting it. Here's what she had to say at the time about the tactic, during a chummy conversation with CNN's Dana Bash, via Politico:

‘You know, if you let me write $200 billion worth of hot checks every year, I could give you an illusion of prosperity, too.” That was then-Democratic Sen. Lloyd Bentsen back in 1988 arguing that the Reagan boom was a myth because it was bought and paid for with deficit spending, then running about $200 billion a year. What would Bentsen say today about an economy that – instead of blasting ahead at more than 4% a year at it was in 1988 – is barely eking out gains and appears headed to a downturn …

It’s the economy, stupid. For decades, that’s been seen as a sound political strategy behind every effective presidential campaign. Focus on the economy and people’s pocketbooks — and get some good luck in terms of how the economy is actually running when you run for office — and voila: You get elected to the White House, and you win reelection. The question a growing number of Democrats are asking, however, is whether that’s still the case, as President Biden deals with stronger economic numbers but low approval ratings.

It is sometimes said that the prosecutions of former President Donald Trump are "backfiring" on Democrats. That is, instead of lowering Trump's political support, they are raising it. That is indeed happening among Republicans and some independents. But many Democrats still hope the cumulative weight of multiple indictments -- there will soon be four, when the Georgia case is added to the New York case and the two federal cases -- will make it impossible for Trump to win the general election.

According to the Wall Street Journal, “State and federal aid is trickling into the region in the wake of the deadliest U.S. wildfire event in over 100 years.” So after a full week, aid is just “trickling in” from FEMA to deal with the destruction of most of the Western part of Maui?
