The Fake Climate Consensus

We are told climate change is a crisis, and that there is an "overwhelming scientific consensus." "It's a manufactured consensus," says climate scientist Judith Curry in my new video. She says scientists have an incentive to exaggerate risk to pursue "fame and fortune."She knows about that because she once spread alarm about climate change. Media loved her when she published a study that seemed to show a dramatic increase in hurricane intensity. "We found that the percent of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes had doubled," says Curry. "This was picked up by the media," and then climate alarmists realized, "Oh, here is the way to do it.

There isn't even a consensus that the increase in carbon dioxide is caused by the use of oil and coal. Additionally, there is no reason to believe that an increase in temperature is detrimental. Consensus (group think) does not equal science.

Judith Curry has seen firsthand how the climate alarmists and grifters work - she's been canceled such that she had to become self-employed. She says she makes less money than she did as a professor but no longer feels conflicted about what constitutes the truth about the weather. Here in NC, I think we're still dealing with the weather effects from the Hunga Tonga volcanic eruption from early last year where 40 *trillion* gallons of seawater were blown into the upper atmosphere. This year, we've had torrential rains with multiple flash flood warnings, and the summer is coming to a close as one of the mildest we've had in recent memory with temps just barely hitting the 90s. Of course, you can't count on the various "official" weather entities to give us the real scoop on what's going on - they're too busy trying to scare us...! greyseal

Living in the deep south, frequently inthe path of Gulf of Mexico hurricanes, we used to rely on the 'Weather Channel' during hurricane threats. Not so much anymore, since they've been pushing the 'climate change' BS. Our locals, out of New Orleans, do a better job. They're liberal, but at least the weather is straight up!

I’ve found the Weather Channel is about as useless as CNN. Half don’t know what they’re talking about and the other half is making things up. Entertainment programming.

Please forgive the 2nd post, but it's raining here again with a half inch of rain so far, and the current temperature is 70 degrees - for the 10th of August in central NC. We've had ~2.5 inches since the first of the month. When I moved here 35 years ago, the most common forecast for this time of year was drought with brown lawns the norm. We didn't see this kind of rain until September, and only then when there was a tropical storm or hurricane (also strangely absent for the last decade or so). The point is, it's called weather, and it's always changing. When you have a global event like the Hunga Tonga volcanic eruption, it will have an impact. But they can't honestly report that - they'd rather scream "Climate change - we're all gonna die...!!" greyseal

Facts is there is no overwhelming scientific consensus on climate. If there ever was a debate about what the real scientific consensus is, democrats would be exposed for what they are. Liars and cheats. That's why they will never debate a real climate scientist. To democrats it's not science, it's a religious cult.

First, they should produce the formulas and computer models that they're using to come to their conclusions (more like hypothesis). Second, none of their "solutions" are about climate change, they are all about reducing pollution, but pollution doesn't get people as excited. Especially when the United States has some of the cleanest air and water already. Third, why isn't India, China, Russia and many other countries as concerned as the people in Europe, Canada and U.S.? Are they stupid? Just don't understand what's happening? Or, do they know what's happening and not that stupid to follow the same expensive schemes?

Why Wouldn't Americans See Politics in

It is sometimes said that the prosecutions of former President Donald Trump are "backfiring" on Democrats. That is, instead of lowering Trump's political support, they are raising it. That is indeed happening among Republicans and some independents. But many Democrats still hope the cumulative weight of multiple indictments -- there will soon be four, when the Georgia case is added to the New York case and the two federal cases -- will make it impossible for Trump to win the general election.

Proterra, an electric bus company that received heavy backing from President Joe Biden’s administration, filed for bankruptcy on Monday. The Burlingame, California-based EV company has been a source of controversy for the Biden administration because Biden’s Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm hyped the company in her official capacity despite the fact that she previously served on Proterra’s board and held over a million dollars worth of stock in the company even after she was confirmed as the head of Biden’s Energy Department.

What should happen... when it is virtually impossible for the defendant to get an impartial jury in that state or district? The prosecution of Donald Trump for the events around January 6, 2021 would seem to call for a change of venue. The District of Columbia is the most extreme Democratic district in the country. Approximately 95% of the potential jurors register and vote Democrat. Whereas approximately 5% voted for Trump. Furthermore, the anger against Trump is understandable in light of the fact that the events of January 6th directly involved many citizens of the district.

This voice of the establishment Left explained that Continetti, besides being an AEI senior fellow and a onetime distinguished editor of the Washington Free Beacon, may be the premier intellectual historian of the American Right. WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s defense attorney says the former president never asked Mike Pence to overturn the will of the voters in the 2020 election, but only wanted the former vice president to “pause” the certification of votes to allow states to investigate his claims of election fraud. Those baseless claims had already been rejected by numerous courts.Speaking on several Sunday morning news shows, Trump attorney John Lauro said Trump was within his First Amendment rights when he petitioned Pence to delay the certification on Jan. 6, 2021.

Britain slept in the 1930s as an inevitable war with Hitler loomed. A lonely Winston Churchill had only a few courageous partners to oppose the appeasement and incompetence of his conservative colleague Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. One of the most stalwart truth-tellers was a now little remembered politico and public servant Leo Amery, a polymath and conservative member of Parliament. Yet in two iconic moments of outrage against the Chamberlain government’s temporizing, Amery galvanized Britain and helped end the government’s disastrous policies.

Brett Baier is not qualified to moderate the Republican debate on August 23 in Milwaukee. Mr. Baier had a much-publicised interview with President Trump a month ago. This interview amply demonstrated Baier’s antipathy towards the President. Most of the time he appeared to be cordial towards the President, however, when Trump brought up the topic of the stolen election, Baier became abusively hostile and interrupted his guest incessantly and would not let the President talk. Right after the election the charges of fraud surfaced, and at every opportunity, the Republicans were asked by the media and Democrats if the election was stolen

Mayor Eric Adams issued a dire warning to President Biden, cautioning that the lack of federal funding to help the migrant crisis will eventually “decimate” the Big Apple — which serves as the “economic engine” of the country. Adams slammed border states for creating a “funnel” to New York on “CBS Mornings” Thursday, saying, “New York City is the economic engine of this entire state and country. If you decimate this city, you’re going to decimate the foundation of what’s happening.” That foundation finally began to crumble earlier this month as dozens of migrants were left sleeping on the streets of Midtown outside the intake center at the Roosevelt Hotel

The independent senator's committee cut two $100,000 checks to the Sanders Institute for reported charitable contributions in January and March, its Federal Election Commission records show. The expenditures are the largest from the Sanders campaign to any entity this election cycle. The senator's wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the Sanders Institute in 2017 to act as a think tank to promote progressive voices, The Washington Post wrote at its launch.
