new online marketplace that promotes itself as a conservative and patriotic alternative to Amazon is preparing to ring the bell on the New York Stock Exchange and take the company public.
According to the Daily Mail, the San Diego-based PublicSq, which first launched in August of 2022, has already drawn the support of prominent America First figures such as Donald Trump Jr. and former Arizona Senate nominee Blake Masters. The company plans to attract more investors by highlighting its status within the so-called “parallel economy” of conservative alternatives to larger, left-wing businesses, according to excerpts from an investor call on Tuesday.

PublicSq. Oh how I’ll be looking forward to that. Can’t stand Amazon and refuse to use it. Hate when my wife does, even though I rag her about it, doesn’t faze her. We sure need the cavalry to come rushing in about now.

There was another such site advertising on the conservative pages over the last couple years. I logged on and they wouldn't show me anything until I gave them all my information first. No thanks.

They want you to have an account and it seems to only work with a phone app. No thanks.

If successful this will give Bezos the heavy board upside the head that he deserves.

I make a great effort to not buy via Amazon. I'll check this alternative out.

We buy a lot from Amazon. I know the politics, but I don’t care. They have the product we need and they ship right away. To apply your political beliefs in purchasing is impractical and unrealistic. Do you go to Costco? Sam’s Club? How many things in your home are labeled “Made in China?”
Do you care if the girl or guy behind the donut counter is a liberal or not? Or the donut shop owner? As long as the donuts are good and reasonably priced, that’s all I care about.
FYI: I shun woke movies. I don’t read liberal or leftist rags.

This is not the first company to try to compete with Amazon. Love them or hate them, Amazon has led the way on eCommerce sales and distribution. They are a huge company with a huge supplier network. They won’t be taken down by a startup but everyone’s welcome to give it a shot.

I agree with #8. I hate Amazon, but their inventory is so vast, and service so fast and easy to use, it's near indispensable. Plus, they weave in the entertainment product, and have an almost unbeatable 'return' policy. I would be willing to try a competitive product, and maybe this is it. And yes, I do hate myself in the morning...

Works fine for me on a desktop - need a larger view for these old eyes! Looks interesting. But it took forever to figure out how to log out. And I agree, it'd be nice to be able to just browse and not have to sign in every time.

#10, there is a story about a child and some seastars that ends "I made a difference to that one."
I am always making a difference, many millions more will also make a difference. It's a good way to fight evil, which always wins if we do nothing.
But PublicSQ doesn't even show what products it sells without an account. How do I know if I want to use it?

What’s the problem with signing up for PublicSQ? You can browse on Amazon any time, but you must have an account to order and you have to give them your credit card and contact info.

I use Amazon to find what I want, then plug in the Seller or product into Brave search engine.
Usually find it cheaper.

Just opened up an account on the site. Not much to it as yet. I do use amazon. It's easy and has just about everything... I do check for alternatives most of the time.
This site has a ways to go

I have used Amazon Prime for years and especially liked the free shipping. Now, however, I notice that they are burying the shipping cost in the price. They charged me ten bucks for a three dollar bottle of steak sauce I couldn’t find locally. Henceforth, I will just shop different sites for a fair price.

These comments are all very curious. I've been boycotting Walmart for about 25 years, and don't know of anyone else who has been doing it that long; ever since I saw they were a sellout to the Chikoms and that most of their merchandise was sub-par slave labor, I stopped going there, with one exception: their local deli, because it's clean and they use local suppliers. But I've also divorced Chase, Khols, Amex, T-mobile, BedBath (so happy they've shut down) and others, because of the way they insult conservative customers. I also quit Target years ago, the minute they started allowing men in the women's bathrooms. That said, I find it hard to be consistent and close my Amazon account, because there is really no one out there who providing similar service. When I was unable to shop for about 3 years due to major surgery, I was grateful for Amazon; in addition, they employ a great number of people who may not be able to find work in certain communities. They also sell "banned books" --- many conservative and Christian books you cannot find elsewhere.
So..... I check the manufacturer on everything I get from them, and if it's Chinese, I don't buy it. But let's get real: do we stop buying iPhones or androids or new cars, for that matter, just because they have chips/parts made in China? My approach is to avoid anything that will give the CCP any funds, whenever possible. But until an alternative shows up in the marketplace, I'm not canceling my account. What's more, some of these so-called patriotic, conservative vendors do not always give you a good price, and fail when it comes to customer service.

I signed up. Cannot navigate the site, it’s too cumbersome and lacks ANY semblance of order or convenience. They will have to do a lot better than that, both phone app and PC app. Nope. Not yet.

I just joined using my iPad, it should work on desktop and iPhone. Amazon has another competitor called Rakuten.com. I shop exclusively online and Amazon is the best due to its enormous inventory. I will use PublicSq though it’s minuscule in comparison. Every business starts small, so I’m willing to help out.

I just signed up. It is nothing but a link aggregator for independent websites. They have no warehousing or sales system in place. The pickings are less than slim. Ideology doesn't trump a better business plan.
