Finnish politics could dramatically shift to the far-Right on Sunday as an anti-immigration party aims to replace Sanna Marin's Social Democrats Party.
The 'rock star' prime minister, who took office in 2019 as the world's youngest PM at 34, is Finland's most popular leader this century, polls show.
However, latest figures put the mother-of-one's centre-Left SDP in third place behind the anti-immigration and nationalist Finns Party and the centre-Right National Coalition Party, which held on to a thin lead. (Snip) A win for the far-Right Finns Party, and a far-Right prime minister, would be a first in Finland - but the party has previously served in government in a coalition.

During a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, members of the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) left the lower house of Austria’s parliament.

However, he also said that it is essential “not to be morally neutral towards evil”. (Snip) Instead, at the beginning of the speech, the Blue Party took out placards with the inscriptions “Place for Peace” and “Place for Neutrality”, which they placed on the desks in front of them before leaving.

As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt sat in his wheelchair in the Oval Office, dictating a letter to his secretary, in sneaked William Donovan, the head of the Office of Strategic Services, armed with a loaded pistol. (Snip) That summer, “Wild Bill” Donovan had also appointed Dr. Stanley Lovell as the director of research and development at the agency.
A renowned industrial chemist, Lovell was a blue-sky thinker long before the phrase even existed.
His more left-field ideas were developed by Division 19, a hush-hush branch of R&D tasked with performing “frequently bizarre tasks,” writes Lisle.
Nothing was a bad idea, at least not initially.
