The United States Senate voted to enshrine the right to same-sex and interracial marriage into federal law on Tuesday.
The Respect For Marriage Act passed on a 61-36 vote. Eleven Republicans voted with Democrats on the measure.
It now heads back to the House of Representatives, where it's likely to pass the Democrat-controlled chamber swiftly enough to head to President Joe Biden's desk before the current Congressional term is over.
Democrat Senator Tammy Baldwin, who helped spearhead the bill, appeared emotional on the chamber floor before the final vote.

Both of North Carolina’s scumb#g RINOs voted for this. Burr should be in jail and is totally worthless, Tillis lied to us all about what he is and he will never be elected again.
Mocking God isn’t the smartest move for any of these pathetic politicians.

The RINO'S come out in full force. BTW, many of them voted to confirm Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro "Monster" Mayorkas. They don't want you to know that. RINO pukes.

"Respect for Marriage Act" ranks even above the "Affordable Healthcare Act" in its Orwellian deceit.
Sickening.
BUT.. on the other hand, and I have not read the bill, the Federal Government does have a role to play here as the inconsistency of State's laws have impact on a number of Federal legal issues and going across state lines cold turn a 'married filing jointly couple' into two 'single filers' as well as issues dealing with spousal social security payments, federal pensions etc.
Not saying it is a good thing, but when you open up that can of worms on the state level - what is the answer to these questions? I can see how some of these issues could have propelled this through in a mildly bipartisan manner.

This is purely for show.
Or maybe there are too many stupid Senators who can't understand the Constitution.
If, like abortion rights, the Court doesn't see a right in the Constituion (no matter how many "penumbras" the Dem justices claim there are), then gay marriage goes back to the states just like abortion.

So, two people will now be able to have a ceremony and then file joint tax returns?
Yeah, this is me not caring. Not exactly a five alarm fire. Joint taxes. Not exactly barbarians storming over Hadrian's Wall. We have more important stuff to deal with. Like rigged elections.

Cardinal Carlo Caffarra revealed these prophetic words in an interview with Aleteia in 2017, explaining how he had received a handwritten note from Sr. Lucia.
The letter ended, saying (in 1983 or 1984): “Father, a time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family. And those who will work for the good of the family will experience persecution and tribulation. But do not be afraid, because Our Lady has already crushed his head.”
Pray hard.

I'm not troubled by same-sex marriage. I just don't believe it was ever necessary. All of the so called injustices against the homosexuals could have been addressed outside of the marriage act. Still, it's all quite silly.

Let’s not be naive. It’s not about marriage and taxes and equal rights. It’s about destroying churches who refuse to marry anyone, it’s about punishing photographers and bakers who refuse to participate, it’s about opening the door to polygamy and sex with minors.

Redefining God’s definition of marriage is not in any way respect. Regardless of what any human says, God is the ultimate definer of marriage, one man, one woman.
Can we now just bypass the government all together and go to church to get married. No need for government interference. Stop getting a license for something that has been redefined. Say your vows before and forget it.

These Republicans voted for this because the districts they represent might be less conservative than other representatives, and by doing this, it takes away any future attack the demosluts might throw at them in the next election.

#27, These fools are senators so they are supposed to represents their respective states, not districts. Most, if not all, of their states had enacted laws or state constitutions prohibiting same sex marriage.
In voting for this law these senators not only codified a law that is superfluous but also kicked their constituents in the rear.

Can’t we pass some laws that are worthwhile and save our country, not destroy it. This should be a state decision, not federal.
