Elon Musk has announced that a wireless device developed by his brain chip company Neuralink is expected to begin human clinical trials in six months, and one of its first targeted applications is restoring vision.
The new Twitter CEO held a 'Show and Tell' event on Wednesday where he spoke about how the brain chip interfaces could enable disabled patients to move and communicate again.
'It's like replacing a piece of the skull with a smartwatch,' he said.
The first two human applications targeted by the Neuralink device will be in restoring vision and enabling movement of muscles in people who cannot do so, Musk said.

This scares me. Anybody that knows the Bible knows why this scares me.

Now that is thinking outside the box. If his devices can cure blindness, or palsy, or Tourette’s, or deafness, or garbled speech, why not? I don’t get the reluctance. Maybe God’s way of doling out some mercy is to use Musk for such purposes. Certainly there is the possibility of abuse, but there is always such possibility when dealing with human beings.

Yes, I'll say it again. Musk cannot be trusted; he's not on your side. He got Apple to back down. Hmmm. . .

Not if the blindness is due to retinal degeneration and if a person has no legs. He's appealing tot he "I want to live forever" crowd of Hollyweird and Washington DC.
I'm a Christian, my true home is in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ, my time on Earth is but a mission to proclaim the Gospel of Him who saved me. I intend to turn in this body like I do my rental cars, very well used.

We've spent trillions of dollars customizing businesses and streets. We've even passed a law that requires businesses to pay for these changes in order to do business. If there was a way to eliminate blindness or deafness or make people who are paralyzed be able to walk again. I don't see a problem with it. We've been doing transplant surgeries for decades that have had an enormous benefit to many people. One can even donate when getting your driver's license renewed.

This is actually an old idea that has been worked on (especially by the gov't) for years. The brain learns by trial and error, so if a device can intercept a brain signal and produce a response, the brain can be trained to produce a response on command with that signal. The interface needs to pick up some distinct signals and an app can be designed to train the brain. The software is probably more the challenge that the hardware.
Don't forget to turn it off when not using it.
I have sold equipment to Neualink and would love to work there if it weren't too far a commute. I was reading about this technology in Omni magazine back in the 80s.

All of the monkeys they experimented on died. Let's not try and play God ok. Nothing good can come of this. Neuralink will be tied to Elon's Skylink global satellite system. Add in the vax and its nanotech and boom you've got quite a method to cause massive destruction of humanity.

He should hire Elizabeth Holmes. That would be perfect.

I would urge anyone here to actually view the presentation on YouTube. I was flabbergasted at what I saw. Elon's scientists managed to map the brain of the monkeys and then actually pick up the responses. The Monkeys can play video games using only their minds. The monkey plays a mean game of Pong. They also have a letter game, as they high light individual letters, the monkey using just his mind can move the computer cursor quickly to each one. Imagine a paralytic being able to dial a phone or control a wheelchair like that. For this Elon should be lauded. BTW, I know how EV's are viewed here but is it great to have an American car being the top seller in Germany (yes not just EV's but total car sales).

When you can't raise your arm above your shoulder, you are very grateful for the advances in artificial shoulder joints. Same with the latest ankle joints, heart valves and other implants. Easy to say no to things like this until you are in incredible pain or you lose a vital function. Unlike most of our other 'notables,' he is not afraid to go big and make things happen that doubters still can't believe. I hope he helps people who are suffering.
