Big changes are coming to Disney, and though I would have never suspected it given past history, it looks like Bob Iger is looking to turn away from overt political activism. Iger returned to the role of CEO in the last few weeks, having started Disney’s woke revolution many years ago. Yet, the company’s disastrous battle with Florida’s Ron DeSantis has him ready to change course. According to Iger, he regrets the clash with the rock-star Republican governor and will look to move Disney toward a more neutral position in the culture wars. A federal appeals court on Thursday overturned a judge's decision to appoint a special watchdog to review documents seized by the FBI from the Florida residence of former President Donald Trump in August as part of a criminal investigation.
The Department of Justice had objected to the appointment of that watchdog, known as a special master, by a federal judge in Florida who was nominated to the bench by Trump. The DOJ said the special master appointment delayed DOJ from using the seized documents as part of that probe until they were cleared.

The Washington Post will end the print edition of its Sunday magazine, Executive Editor Sally Buzbee told staffers in a memo Wednesday. Its last edition will be December 25. Some of the magazine’s features will move to a “revitalized Style section,” Buzbee writes in a short note, adding that Post remains “committed to longform journalism.”
So what will happen to the magazine’s content? Tom Sietsema’s dining column and the crossword will run in the Sunday print edition as well as online of course, Post spokesperson Shani George tells Washingtonian. “Other features will be sunset,” George says. You know what that means: No more Date Lab.

Striking a contrite tone, former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried said he "didn't do a good job" at upholding his responsibilities to regulators, customers, and investors in a hotly anticipated conversation with CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin at the Dealbook Summit.
Bankman-Fried's FTX imploded in mid-November after Coindesk reported irregularities in the company's balance sheets. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware on Nov. 11. "I didn't ever try to commit fraud on anyone," Bankman-Fried said. "I saw it as a thriving business and I was shocked by what happened this month."

Ever since the 2020 presidential election, we’ve been told that election deniers are threats to democracy. The only cure for that is to not vote for an election denier to ever hold elected office, they said. House Democrats voted Wednesday to make Rep. Hakeem Jeffries their leader in the next Congress, replacing 82-year-old Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Jeffries won the post in an uncontested election after Pelosi and the two other incumbent members of the Democratic leadership, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, opted to step down. Jeffries, a 52-year-old New Yorker, will be the first African American to serve as House Democratic leader.
