It's Time For McCarthy and McConnell to Retire

Original Article

Americans are ready to move on from the current Republican leadership, choosing to vote out Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. According to a new Rasmussen Reports Poll, just 28 percent of likely voters have a favorable view of McConnell, while 61 percent say the GOP needs a new leader. Following his win, McConnell, who is the longest-serving GOP leader in Senate history, said that he doesn’t plan to give up his position anytime soon. However, several Republicans feel that new, younger leadership is needed in Congress. "Nobody, not Republicans, not independents, not Democrats in my state are happy with the leadership in Washington. I'm not either.

Comments:

Absolutely agree. We need bulldogs, all teeth, bite and bark! Those two are milquetoast "cross the aisle" types who are more worried about cocktail party invites than they are about getting things done. Begone, vermin!!

Thanks to Mitch we lost Alaska and AZ and others and Mitch gets to keep his beloved job as a minority weasel. Despicable and unacceptable to have a leader working AGAINST the best interests of the party and working in the best interest of his own political power.

I know: Let's put in Marjorie Taylor Greene and Josh Hawley, that will really bring in the independents and we'll probably get lots of Democrats crossing the aisle, too, so races won't even be close. s/o By the way, McConnell kept Merrick Garland off the Supreme Court, ushered through the nominations of three Trump Supreme Court nominees, and protected Trump from conviction following impeachment in the House. Oh, but he recognized that the Trumpy candidates were abysmal and that we can't win by harping about the 2020 election, so he has to go.

The last good thing that came from California politically was Ronald Reagan. McCarthy isn't Ronald Reagan; he couldn't even shine his shoes. I keep looking across the nation and I see all of these viable, dynamic leaders who are ready to lead. But the corporate (the Republican Party is a corporation) will not advance them. Nothing proved this more than when McConnell froze spending that could have resulted in a Republican senate. Why? Because that aren't the right kind of bought-and-paid-for Pubbies. Let's face it. The likelihood of saving our Republic is growing slimmer and slimmer. And the alternatives are drastic.

agree totally with the sentiment of your headline and body of the article but have a problem with one word: "retire" - as for Kevin McCarthy he hasn't proven sufficiently that he is not going to be a valuable asset to the repubs but, in the case of Hong Kong Mitch, he definitely needs to Leave because retire kind of infers that he leaves his post in a credible way, he has not and doesn't deserve any benefit of any doubt also, those jelly spined senators who are aligned with him need to Leave, too and everyone knows who I mean.

To me there is a big difference between McCarthy and McConnell. McCarthy is no ball of fire but under his leadership the Republicans have picked up seats in both elections. Perhaps he has earned the trust to be Speaker. Obviously McConnell during this election cycle has proven himself unfit to be leader. If he resigns, however, the Democrat governor will appoint a Democrat to take his place.

Democrats have turned politics into warfare. Since 2015, they have outwardly declared war on any opposition. After President Trump won in 2016, democrats went berserk. They actually lost their minds. Now it was politics at its worst. Truth wasn’t even in their vocabulary. They said whatever they felt they needed to in order to not just defeat their enemy, but to destroy him too. They abandoned all semblance of comity, and became vicious liars throwing hate bombs from every direction at Trump, his family, and his supporters. There was nothing off limits. They gave President Trump no quarter and treated him as no other President had ever been treated. Democrats created this toxic political atmosphere and it is going to take someone who is able and willing to fight hard to overcome their perfidy. The very thing that the holier than thou crowd hate about Trump is the very thing that a leader now needs in order to beat back the vile cabal the represents every contingent of the democrat party. They need to hear harsh brutal truth. I challenge anyone to point out one reasonable individual in that rank mishmash of anti-Americans. Does anyone believe that an attempt to reach across the aisle will be met with anything but obstinance and ridicule or even more likely, a full frontal attack? Democrats want to destroy the opposition, Republicans for the most part want to believe that these lawless, vicious, and depraved individuals can be trusted. There is only one way forward and that is the complete and utter defeat of the democrat party. These people cannot be reasoned with because they will not yield. They will not willingly surrender. It is going to take a force so relentless and determined that they have no other option than accept defeat. McConnell nor McCarthy are up to that task. They don’t understand that fight we are in or they are actually complicit in the democrats desire to fundamentally transform this country. What we all know because of past experience by these two men, when they could have made a real difference in the country, they chose to do nothing. These are not the kind of men who frankly, want to pry the democrats death grip from the Republic. They instead will work to protect the status quo. We have left whatever remnants of good and honest government we had in the rear view mirror years ago. We either forge a better and more robust government of, for and by we the people as much as we are able to in the next couple years or we are toast as a Representative Republic. We must hold the line and more importantly hold democrats accountable for what they have done. McConnell and McCarthy just do not have it in them to fight this fight. The next two years are crucial. We need to present a united front with one goal in mind, kick this foul democrat party to the curb and show no mercy.

Certainly McConnell, and I don't particularly trust McCarthy, but he isn't so 100% certainly a bad guy, as McConnell is. But McCarthy seems, at minimum, to be too easily pushed into doing nothing useful, or helping the Dems that I wish we had a strong, brave conservative in that slot. McCarthy is definitely not that.

I just want fresh faces in leadership. The republican party needs to freshen itself up and prepare its youth for the future - whatever America's future is. Leaders who have a soapbox and are willing to use it and can force the msm and SM to listen to and report it. Leaders who know what effective messaging is. Leaders who remember America, as founded. Leaders who represent the interests of the American people, not the establishment, not only their donors, and not foreign interests. Having McConnell and McCarthy continue in their leadership roles is like having one's infirm elderly parents visiting one's house. After a few days, the visit gets real old and they start to smell.

America is in the fight for her life. We are in a fight so brutal, it is akin to some of the hand-to-hand battles our brave soldiers in WWII engaged in to save not only our Republic but the rest of the world. We had Patton, in WWII and we still have Donald J. Trump. Both men know how to wage brutal warfare, and win. And both men were and are victims of a relentless pursuit to destroy them with Patton dying under very suspicious circumstances. I pray for Donald Trump every night. Kevin McCarthy is a wimp, pretty boy, and appears not even to know how to throw a punch let alone engage in hand-to-hand brutal warfare. And Mitch McConnell is a traitor to republicans and the entire country. Pure and simple. He should be tried for crimes against this country with his business dealings with the CCP. He should never, ever have a leadership position in the Senate after his very public campaign against republican senatorial candidates leading to losing races that could have and should have been won. And both men have never even acknowledged the J6 political prisoners still laguishing in the DC gulag. Just for that neither man should ever hold leadership positions. However, with the exception of Donald J. Trump, there are NO republicans that are capable of engaging in brutal warfare against democrats and the insidious global deep state.

On Thursday morning, news broke that Brittney Griner was headed home. The embattled WNBA star who once asked her league to stop playing the national anthem had been imprisoned for months in Russia, after being caught with hash oil. A blockbuster trade was made to secure her release. Or at least, it was a blockbuster for one side. Russia received notorious arms dealer Viktor Bout. The United States got Griner and no one else. But while the deal was lopsided, it was arguably necessary. The Biden administration swears that imprisoned former US Marine Paul Whelen wasn’t being offered by Russia, and anytime you are dealing with a dictatorial state,

There was a time in America when Abraham Lincoln was perceived as pretty upright — people even elected him president. Fast-forward to honors such as the penny (1909), the five-dollar bill (1914), and the Lincoln Memorial (1922). But a man born in 1809 is unacceptably out of step with today’s superior sensibilities. Such is the assertion of an article published by Syracuse University’s student paper, The Daily Orange. Per the piece, Joe Biden’s former campus home hosts two statues honoring Lincoln — portraits of “a president worthy of our admiration and sympathy.” However, don’t be fooled: [S]uch awe-inspiring statues can be deceiving,

Why Does the GOP Elite Hate Its Own Base? 30 replies

It is one of the most bitter and tragic ironies of our contemporary politics that the leadership of one of America’s two major political parties, the Republican Party, utterly despises that party’s very own voting base. The GOP elite’s scorn for its own voters has, at this point, been a long time in the making. The trend accelerated during the 2009-2011 rise of the Tea Party, a grassroots movement fueled by constitutionalism and anti-elite populism. The crustier elements of the Republican establishment ran as far away as possible from the Tea Party, and the 2012 presidential coronation of private equity plutocrat Mitt Romney effectively killed the movement.
Does Trump Really Want To Be President Again? 30 replies

Team Trump has sometimes compared former President Donald Trump's current quest for a non-sequential second term to two-term President Grover Cleveland's similar three election bids. Cleveland remains our only elected president (1884) to have lost a reelection bid (1888) -- in a disputed vote -- only to be reelected four years later in 1892. Yet Trump seems determined instead to follow a different, and bullheaded, Teddy Roosevelt model. Roosevelt left the presidency in 1908, sat out four years, and then lost a reelection bid in 1912, split and alienated the Republican Party, and ensured the election of the progressive Woodrow Wilson.

The Georgia runoff is over. Raphael Warnock came out on top (as expected). And Republicans are once again running the “quality candidate” canard as the reason for Herschel Walker’s loss (in addition to the overblown, overused, Trump scapegoat). Yet despite the fact Walker was outspent by Warnock nearly 3 to 1 (Warnock spent $126,232,942 to Walker’s $48,455,356), Walker performed remarkably well, netting 48.6 percent of the vote to Warnock’s 51.4 percent. This as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp only came out in full force for Walker after he coasted to reelection in November (loaning his field organizing team to the Senate Leadership Fund — the GOP’s Senate super PAC which backed Walker).
