Grocery bills are too expensive for the average American and customers are changing their shopping habits, according to a survey released Wednesday. The True Cost of a Grocery Shop survey conducted by Swiftly, a retail technologies company, was given to a random pool of 1,500 participants. Results measured the habits of consumers and how they navigate inflation as it drives up grocery costs. The survey found that more than two-thirds of consumers are struggling to afford groceries. About 83% of respondents said they rely on coupons or some form of customer rewards when they shop.

It has hit some of my adult children hard. They are coupon shopping and buying less meat, getting by on what they’ve grown or raised. One family I have to assist financially every month. How long can this continue? They are all fully employed at what used to be respectable jobs - they are just at the expensive phase of family life with hungry teenagers.

I feel for the families in the northeast where their heating costs will be up 45%. But doesn't the northeast usually vote for democrats? I'm a widow on a fixed income. It's not the groceries hurting me. It's the 20% increase in everything else in my life. Taxes went from $592 last year on a one year old car to $800 this year on a two year old car. Insurance in August went from $560 to $800. I guess I'm supposed to pull $2,400 out of the air for the pleasure of driving in a small town for a year.

And the other 1/3 (really a little more) gets foods stamps / SNAP benefits and keep getting generous benefit bonuses due to inflation and government whim. Many I know with these benefits have lots of unused benefits thanks to government generosity. They have no problem getting their groceries or anything else thanks to all of their "free " benefits.

I hate using coupons and discount schemes almost as much as I hate the customer in front of me using them. That's the one and only advantage Wally World has over the other chains although their customers present unique challenges as well.

Sorry folks. I live in NW AR. I simply do not see such gnashing of teeth with the population here. The stores are full of people. People seem to be buying whatever they want. I do not hear much grumbling. Yes, they are starting to notice that bags of chips are a few cents higher, but mostly that the contents are less. They are buying anyway. No layoffs. Yes utilities are higher but not causing anyone to stop putting up Christmas lights. Sorry if major cities are experiencing such awful conditions (nyc, houston, east coast, west coast). They have been living in squawler and crime for decades. Stop electing dems. Stop allowing crime! Don't move here. We don't want takers, moochers. Bail yourselves out of your deep dem hole.

It isn't just groceries that have me struggling. Winter is coming on and fuel oil for heating was $5.95 a gall when they filled me up. $1250 dollars worth. I have stopped all but totally necessary driving ,gasoline is too high. I feel like I should raise my hands over my head at the hardware and lumber store, their robbery prices are so high. The struggle is to end up the week without having to dig into savings. Thank You Joe Biden and the idiots that voted for this.

My son in law started and owns two small businesses, one of which sells wood stoves. Given the price hikes in heating fuel, he can’t keep up with the demand for wood stoves. His business is booming but, like so many others, he has trouble finding and keeping employees. Which means that he works 12 hour days 6 days a week. They have an oil furnace in their home but filling the tank is just too expensive so they have installed a wood stove and a pellet stove so they don’t have to depend on the furnace.

It’s not just the extra cost but also the scarcity of normal items. When I went to Safeway yesterday, they were out of whole milk and even 2%. Some of the shelves were empty. In the the checkout line, I caught myself feeling envious of the woman in front of me who got the last of one of things I wanted to buy. Just thankful that my exchange students weren’t with me to see how what used to be a “land of plenty” has been reduced to a “land of scarcity.”

FTA: "Three-quarters of respondents said they have changed their overall grocery shopping habits in the last year. This may include selecting more affordable alternatives from the shelf, searching for deals or even foregoing certain items." I don't see any deprivation here. It's people who were "buyers" paying attention to price and relative quality, and taking advantage of deals and discounts. Store brands and generics put food on the table. Children of Depression parents, we have been doing that our entire lives. Thrift is a forgotten virtue. Food prep and cooking are lost arts for many. Rather pay $5 a pop for a Happy Meal. And those who "cannot afford" their rations can always wheel their late model car to the nearest food pantry for the freebies. Or, apply for that EBT card at the welfare office opening that cornucopia. No one is starving in America. Very few are truly suffering.

See, the Dems and WEF destruction of the middle class is proceeding apace. I'm convinced that rich folks looked around and saw that the average middle class person was living, eating and driving about as well as they were.....NOT enough "gap" up to the ultra rich. What good is it being a billionaire if just any middle class person can have almost as good food, homes and cars? What if they can just fly off to Europe or wherever for a nice vacation, too? What "good" is being a billionaire if there isn't a lot of "special stuff" that only billionaires can have? So.....if they make the middle class into peasants, that "elevates" them - and THAT is what they are doing. Making sure that middle class life is no longer as good and pleasant as it has been for the last 20 or 40 years....to make their lifestyles "better", even though nothing for them actually changes, they only impoverish the rest of us. This is all as planned.

My 92yo father used to have money left over from his SS at the end of the month, now I have to supplement him to the tune of $500-$1000 a month, while my income has dropped by more than 1/2. I've started doing odd jobs in the neighborhood to make up the lack, things I would have done(and did) for free 2 years ago. I have not gone out to eat this year, I used to eat beef three/four days a week....now once a month, and I generally only eat one meal a day anymore. I have the house I found for him totally paid off, and zero credit card debt, have his cards paid down to under 20% of available credit. In January I'll be having to look at taking some equity out of the house, divide the lot, and building another house to sell. I have dozens of sets of plans from houses I built for others over the years, and by running the build myself, doing much of the work myself...while I still can, I'm 64...It's my last gasp at a decent lump sum return instead of a "just a job" at Home Depot or some such thing for the rest of my life, or rather the rest of HIS life. When he dies I can go to somewhere an income is easier to find.

I'm with #6 - my car insurance on two cars (4 and 2 years old) went up 10%. My last gas/electric bill is the highest I've ever seen. My property taxes are guaranteed to climb into the stratosphere because several houses around me have sold for twice what I paid for mine ten years ago. It just goes on and on. Yes, we're getting COLAs on Social Security, but any increase is getting eaten up by inflation.

Biden voters and Democrats are giddy with excitement over the way things have turned out. Hey, it only costs $20 to buy a T-bone steak. That is one steak mind you, but delicious. I saw a very poor looking elderly lady ask the butcher for a quarter pound of ground beef to go into her cart with food from the outdated or damaged discount bin. I saw an unopened but crushed flat box of rice-a-roni, $0.75. Welcome to Democrat America.

Go to Walmart grocery and it becomes very obvious who is on food stamps. I see full-to-overflowing carts which are easily $1000 of stuff. That's why Biden increased their allocation by 25% not long ago. Food stampers don't give a flip about prices. Joe's got them covered.

This is affecting EVERYONE but not at the same level of impact. My family only goes out to eat twice a month now. We prepare food at home and have cut down on beef. Pork (except for bacon) has not skyrocketed here yet, but beef and chicken are quite a bit higher now. The SAME item at Walmart I liked to buy has gone up 4 times since March for the same thing-- 58 cents to 65 cents, to 72 cents to now 78 cents last week. I stopped buying it when it went to 72 cents. It would be interesting if it was possible for people to see the cause and effect of voting for MORE of the same in the last mid-term, but people DO NOT think long range, and the media and Big Tech keeps the majority at a "Low information" level with all the stories that don't matter to their daily lives. The Twitter scandal due to the Hunter Macbook story is suddenly now news being beaten back yet again while the REAL story about how shadowbanning and deplatforming attacked those who would speak up and speak out-- is really an attack against ALL who would dare to go against the grain under the guise of "free speech". People are being taxed out of their homes and things are going to get much worse for some during the Winter months.... meanwhile, the republicans are selling U.S. out making deal with the demonrat socialist marxists--- even stalwarts like Kat Kammack and Elise Stefanick are listening to the call of the Rino....

A newly released investigation reveals the extent to which American taxpayer-funded non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are sending tens of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens to towns across all 50 states. The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project obtained data showing about 30,000 unique mobile devices at 35 NGO centers and one Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility stationed along the United States-Mexico border. Ultimately, the investigation “confirmed that a host of NGOs are actively facilitating” large scale illegal immigration into the U.S. interior as CBP transfers border crossers and illegal aliens en masse to NGOs, funded by taxpayers, which then provide transportation services so arrivals can be sent to all 50 states.

It is one of the most bitter and tragic ironies of our contemporary politics that the leadership of one of America’s two major political parties, the Republican Party, utterly despises that party’s very own voting base. The GOP elite’s scorn for its own voters has, at this point, been a long time in the making. The trend accelerated during the 2009-2011 rise of the Tea Party, a grassroots movement fueled by constitutionalism and anti-elite populism. The crustier elements of the Republican establishment ran as far away as possible from the Tea Party, and the 2012 presidential coronation of private equity plutocrat Mitt Romney effectively killed the movement.

Team Trump has sometimes compared former President Donald Trump's current quest for a non-sequential second term to two-term President Grover Cleveland's similar three election bids. Cleveland remains our only elected president (1884) to have lost a reelection bid (1888) -- in a disputed vote -- only to be reelected four years later in 1892. Yet Trump seems determined instead to follow a different, and bullheaded, Teddy Roosevelt model. Roosevelt left the presidency in 1908, sat out four years, and then lost a reelection bid in 1912, split and alienated the Republican Party, and ensured the election of the progressive Woodrow Wilson.

The Georgia runoff is over. Raphael Warnock came out on top (as expected). And Republicans are once again running the “quality candidate” canard as the reason for Herschel Walker’s loss (in addition to the overblown, overused, Trump scapegoat). Yet despite the fact Walker was outspent by Warnock nearly 3 to 1 (Warnock spent $126,232,942 to Walker’s $48,455,356), Walker performed remarkably well, netting 48.6 percent of the vote to Warnock’s 51.4 percent. This as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp only came out in full force for Walker after he coasted to reelection in November (loaning his field organizing team to the Senate Leadership Fund — the GOP’s Senate super PAC which backed Walker).
